The Labyrinth

Slendermane nods. He is not the most talkative pony, if that is what he is. He looks around at each statue, then stays still and waits.

 

(We are getting close to the end of this challenge. Does everyone want this to be the final challenge, or are you up for more? If this is the end, the statues will open a gateway back home. If not, I will have to take some time to come up with more challenges.)

Garth sees a pony walk in through the wall. "You're HappyMaskPony, right?" Garth removes both masks from his bag and tosses them to him. "These are your forte." He sits back down next to Slendermane.

 

(My guy doesn't like The Happy Mask Pony so he will continue to use HappyMaskPony.)

(Good question. I'm up for either. If this ends though, I'm gonna need something else for that slot of my mind.)

"I guess we can go back... Maybe Garth got the mask already..." Lyra follows the strange pony back around the corner to the room with the statues. She sees the slender pony sitting in front of the statues, looking at the sky. She was frightened by his awkward demeanor, but he almost seemed humbled...

 

But Lyra was still weirded out by the odd creature and was going to keep her distance for a while "I'm just going to sit in the corner and keep the mask of truth safe..."

 

(If you want to end it, that's fine, but these are awesome! If you can make another challenge, that'd be great!)

"Ah, so it seems that you have found one of the six masks. That's good. Very good. You must be a clever one."

The Happy Mask Pony walks over to Garth and takes the mask from his talons.

"It's interesting that these ponies would be the masks, seeing as they were the wielders of harmony so many years ago. What calamity could have set their spirits to unrest, I wonder..."

He puts the mask back in his bag, while glancing back over to slendermane. Why was he still there? Did he really want to see how they solved the labyrinth? Did he enjoy watching them struggle? Did... Did he want to get out too?

"Oh yea. Here is the other one." He hands him the Purple and White mask to add to the Orange mask he had already given HappyMaskPony. 'Care to explain what these 'Wielders of Harmony' were? All I know is that stuff happened years ago and that Equestria stayed the same during those years because of them."

The Happy Mask Pony sighs.

"Honestly, am I the only pony who reads anymore? Ah well. The story goes something like this.

Twilight Sparkle, the personal student of princess Celestia herself, was sent to ponyville on a mission to explore the magic of friendship. However, she did not want to go. She had read the legends. It was said that on the thousand year anniversary of the Summer Sun Celebration, Nightmare Moon would once again return and plunge the land into eternal darkness. She pleaded for the Celestia's aid, but with little avail.

When she arrived in Ponyville, she met the ones who were to become the other elements of harmony. Applejack, of honesty. Rarity, of generosity. Fluttershy, of kindness. Rainbow Dash, of loyalty. And Pinke Pie, of laughter. Also, Twilight's deepest fears were confirmed when Nightmare Moon returned as per the legends.

However, these six ponies would not back down. They followed Nightmare Moon to her castle, discovering their elements along the way, and using them to vanquish her evil. The Elements were unstoppable. No foe who challenged them could ever defeat their combined power. One day, though, the Elements simply vanished. Nopony ever did figure out what happened to them. Of course, new elements arose to take their place, but no one has found any clues as to where they went..."

The Happy Mask Pony looked Garth straight in the eyes.

"Until now."

"Ooooh mysterious. So you are saying, those ponies vanished and became masks? That... is hard to believe." Garth laughed a bit. "Anyway, take the mask and do what you must. I wanna bring my friends here to explore this labyrinth already. So since you know so much, how about explaining this guy?" Garth points at Slendermane. "It seems all friendly and such but I'm pretty sure it is the reason we are here."

"Well, Slendermane tends to pop up in legends quite a bit too. In fact, the last time he showed up was just before the disappearance of the Elements. I've dealt with near-deities like him before. I know what he wants."

The Happy Mask Pony turns back to Slendermane.

"You're lonely, aren't you. It's not easy, being so powerful. You just scare everypony away..."

Slendermane looked over at the Happy Mask Pony and nodded. A tentacle appeared from his back. In the tentacle was a letter. "I am what I am. That is all. I do not know where I come from. I do not know my purpose. I exist on a different plane of existence from you. I traverse the multiverse, observing the many worlds. I have even been to your world, Happy Mask Salesman. All I know is what I have seen, nothing else. I observe, but I do not understand. These masks are not the elements of harmony, merely representations. I wondered if I could understand the concepts of harmony or friendship, but as I am alien to you, so are you alien to me. I apologize. I meant no harm." Slendermane got up and backed away, as if worried or ashamed. A strange voice rang out, as if from everywhere. "Everypony I get close to, I hurt." After the voice, everypony present had a terrible headache, and was doubled over in pain and nausia.

Struggling to his feet, Garth looks over at Slendermane. Walking towards him, he staggers and falls again. Getting up once again, he grits his beak and gets closer to him. Garth punches Slendermane. "Get a hold of yourself and stop that!" He falls over, doubling over in pain.

*It is so...cold.....Where is my warm bed...*

Slowly John opened his eyes to darkness, and a sharp streak of panic ran through his side.

*Where am I....Where is everyone....Wait, how did I get here.?"

Slowly getting up, he looks around, his level of panic rising as quick as it could.

Slowly he began to whisper "Hello...Hello...?"

He then yelled as loud as he could "Is any pony there!?"

John began to take controll of himself, and began to travel through the maze

(I could always do a years latter sort of thing. Any player who wants can join in. New maze with new challenges. Next maze might not be Slendermane's doing though. Now to actually come up with some challenges. I may work on that tomorrow.)

(well, i'll make this as believeable as I can)

John closed his eyes out of fear and just found the wall near him and hugged near it while walking, slowly thinking to himself

*There is nothing to be afraid of..there is nothing to be afraid of*

As he was walking, he stumbled into the room with 6 statues.

(Well...I tried I will do better as I learn how to do this section of Rp. Never tried this kind before ;D)

Garth looked at the new pony who had his eyes closed and just entered the room. "What? Oh whatever. You are still teleporting new ponies in at this point in the challenge?"

 

(@Slendermane: A year later? How about a year later in the world they live in and 100 years later in the Labyrinth? The cobblestone flooring now has moss and such. So if it's not Slendermane's doing... who would be the dungeon master?)

Fa stumbled. There was not much around that could help her.

 

Scratching her hair, she undid her mane, taking the silver chopsticks out and letting her silky hair flow down. Then she used her unicorn power to push the sharp end of the stick into the large keyhole. She started to pick the lock.

 

"If there's one thing my husband taught me is that a true warrior can use any object to his advantage."

 

After slipping and sliding the stick in and out of the keyhole, the lock clicked and the door swung open.

The HMP (saving typing time) looks distractedly at slendermane.

"Few have known the solitude and isolation that this pony has endured. Power is a double edged sword. Not even the power to destroy and raise civilizations in the blink of an eye can give you the hearts of other ponies. Loneliness... I..." He turns toward the statues, unable to face the other ponies.

To St. Pinkie: Fa enters a dark room. At first, she can't see a thing, but her eyes begin to adjust. She sees what look like party decorations strewn around the room. She sees a table with a cake with no candles, a toy alligator, a ball of lint, a sack of flour, a pile of rocks, and a bucket of turnips. She hears the sound of sobbing. The sound is coming from a corner in the room. As she gets closer to it, she sees a dark pink mask, with the mane fallen all around the face. She sees a birthday card nearby. "Abandoned and alone, this is a soul lost to the darkness. Only with the friendship of others can she see the light." Next to the card is a box of birthday candles and some matches.

"This looks like that Sugarcube place..."

 

Matches and candles? This was like a puzzle of some sort. She glanced back at the puzzle box. Nothing new had happened to it.

 

Fa wanted to take a better look around the room. She lit a candle and noticed the cake on the table.

 

"It's like...a birthday party, where the only common thing missing is the candles on the cake."

 

She took a few candles, stuck them into the cake in the middle of the room and proceeded to light each of them with the candle she was holding. The room slowly filled up with light.

To St. Pinkie: Suddenly, as light filled the room, the sound of crying was replaced with the sound of laughter. Fa turned back to the mask. It had changed somehow. It was bright pink, and the straight hair had become frizzy. But the most noticeable difference was the face itself. Before it looked sad, like it had been weeping. Now it had a big smile. The puzzle was solved. Now just one more puzzle to go, the puzzle box. After Fa picked up the mask, Slendermane appeared behind her. It left a message for her on another birthday card. "The others are waiting."

"That looks much better." Fa walked out of the room and closed the door behind her. She carried the puzzle box on her back and continues walking back in the same direction she came from. Somehow, she seemed happier now.

 

Then the road split again. Something was really creepy about the labyrinth. If you retrace your steps, suddeny things can change.

 

Fa took the left road and continued on.

(Since a new character just joined, maybe I should continue this maze, or just have a new one appear right after.)

(Maybe the new character can go pick up Dave. Seeing as it seems that Dave has yet to grab his mask. Or maybe he can go collect Twilight's mask, but I'm pretty sure you might have the same plan for that mask as me. Plan is in the spoiler.)

 

 

When all five masks are collected, the sixth will appear.
