Any military bronies around?

Well I've been on the forums for a few months now, mostly being active on the weekends only due to being in camp during the week. As I approach the end of my obligatory two-year service in the army, I'm just curious to find out if there're any military bronies (past/present/future/reservist) around on the forums :)

Signature to come soon. I think. Yeah. Once I think up a nice one. Or when someone makes one for me. Damn it. I need more time to draw and animate poni. >_<

I am a part of the United States Marine Corps. Unfortunately, I work in administration for my unit, HMLA-773 (-). It is an attack helicopter unit with Hueys and Cobra choppers. I've been in for 3 years now and I am approaching my fourth and final year in active duty. I'm actually willing to bet I'm the only military Brony in my unit. :S

I don't know if I should post this here but...there is a brony that is handled and is made for any military bronies out there:

http://www.fobequestria.com/

It's like EQD, but done by militaries and a bit more focus on that regard. Maybe you guys should check it out if you haven't already ;)

Also, I wonder if Blackgryph0n, pretty much the most known military brony out tehre because of his vids and music, is in the forum  . i'm not a military myself, but I admire you guys a lot  .

My dad was a tank officer. Honestly, I'm considering it, but I have flat feet... can't run long distances. I was thinking maybe a mechanic.

Well don't let something like flat feet stop you! If you're really interested in joining the military there're lots of vocations that don't require pure physical abilities. :)

Administrative work is just as important as any work done by the guys with their boots on the ground (or in your case, in the air :P). I'm a signaller by training but from where I come from, signallers tend to do quite a bit of admin work during non-operational periods so I've been able to relate to the clerks, I/Cs, admin NCOs, etc in the various HQs and over my two years, I've come to hold a deep respect for some of the really hardworking ones. I'm not a military person, but I had spoken to one through email, he's in the U.S air force and he came to Guam before deployment, before that, he looked at deviantart, where at some point he managed to find me then he asked for my email, eventually, this resulted in a little chat, I'll paste our conversation:

Me: So your a brony, just came to Guam and your having trouble finding bronies, yeah, you can't find so much bronies here on the island, it's very nice to see a brony come to Guam, but how did you manage to find me on Deviantart?

Him: I was looking through Deviantart at random pics and I saw you're sleepy one and when I saw your name I thought it was kinda funny and I was curious if you did any naruto stuff as well and when I checked your profile my eye caught the word Guam and I had to write something. I was just sent to guam a few months ago and ever since then I've been made fun of for me likeing mlp. I used to have alot of brony friends in the states but being a military brony is tuough.

Me: Let me guess, you came to Guam because of Geiger Fury? I thought so, that's been going on in the island for a while, if you have a lot of time, you can check out this site:

http://mlpforums.com/.

It's a forum dedicated to the brony community, and yes I'm Narutardedscum!! over there (http://mlpforums.com/user/820-narutardedscum/) , nice meeting you!

Him: no I came to guam because I'm in the Air Force and I didn't have much choice. I have no idea what Geiger Fury is.

Me: Well, Geiger Fury is a U.S Marines exercise that's happening in Guam as well as a smaller island called Tinian up north, So I see that your in the Air Force, that's cool, Guam is known in the pacific for having an Air Force base as well as a Naval base too, anyways, Welcome to Guam, I hope you'll enjoy your stay here.

Him: thanks, I'm enjoying it so far but I wont be here for long, we are deploying to Afghanistan soon. You originaly from guam?

Me: Nah, I'm originally from the island of Saipan, also up north after Tinian, My family moved here to Guam because my dad's working here. Good luck and take care on your way to Afghanistan, hope we'll meet again.

Posted ImageIt was nice talking to him, and that was the first time I had ever spoken to a brony who's actually on Guam.

I was about to enlist in the military, but right before I did for whatever reason I just said "nah nevermind this". However there are tons of soldier bronies around, which in a way surprises me because I usually don't consider my own mental image of soldiers the internet saavy type.

inb4 somebody who's in the service tells me that they are actually all internet saavy nerds.

well it really depends on what branch of service, i think most if not all armies practice some form of streaming with regards to manpower allocation between formations. some jobs (like artillery and signals) naturally require soldiers who are more educated/tech-savvy. it might be true that some types of soldiers aren't really the internet savvy type but i would try to avoid the stereotype

Active duty USAF pilot with 11 years. As far as I know, there are no other bronies in my squadron. On the other hand, I keep my bronieness on the down low, so there might be others out there.

Sup big sarge? A fellow grunt!

I'm an 11b myself. E-4. Went to a MTT team from the schoolhouse in Benning at Knox and got my B4 identifier in 2012. Deployed with 1ID to Iraq (Taji) in 2010. Still in 1ID at Riley, finishing out my last four months before ETS (FTA, ETS!)

As far as I know, there's a couple other guys on here who're army. One used to be an MP from Leonardwood, if I'm not totally fucked up.

Also, good luck with the Q Course, dude. A buddy of mine just finished it up a while back and said that Robin Sage was a motherfucker.

Also, just outta curiosity, when you were at Drum, did you ever meet a Zachary Borja, E-6 type?

Thanks, bru! I'm fairly certain you and I are the only two blue cords around these here parts.

Aw, man fuck Polk though. We went to JRTC there, before deployment, and I literally wanted to kill myself. Mad props for making it outta that shithole.

@@Seaweed@,

Hey guys, just wanted to say thank you for your service!

To answer the thread's question, I am not in the military, but I have been accepted to the Naval Academy, and I may attend there for college, in which case I would be serving in the military upon graduation.

Lol, shut up, squid.

Just kidding :P

From what I hear, the Naval Academy has a phenomenal education system, not to mention beating our asses in football every year.

Yeah...I got discharge from the Air Force early after my training in my AFSC. I was and A3: Airborne Mission Systems Specialist which I heard they merged recently with the A4: System Operators. Either way...I live in a ton of regret and sadness as I miss those great memories and dreams I once had...There was so much pride.

Thank you all for your dedication and perseverance. Hoooah!

I was in the navy reserve as a hospital corpsman, my rank and rate was an E-3 Hospitalman for four years, on my last year I was briefly stationed in Norfolk to provide extra assistance in the naval hospital, and it was stressful, we had sick from H1N1 swine flu, and wounded from combat zones, I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown. When my service was over, I went back home where I was discharged at the reserve centre, now I try to cope in civilian live with anxiety and depression, now I help veterans who come back home, and talk to my step brother who just entered his second year in the 82nd Airborne, I always have the need to help people, even now I don't have anyone to help me with my stress, but the bronies have been there for me and I for them, so I say thank you.

Yeah, the Naval Academy is an amazing education! I'm not fully sure where I want to go yet, but it certainly is a strong contender! And yeah, sorry about the Navy killing Army every year in football!
