Your thoughts on OCs

I personally love OCs if time and effort are actually given. I enjoy making them, but I make sure they have real character and aren't just something I threw together in 10 minutes (this is for any OC I make, not just ponies). They need to have strengths, flaws, fears, loves, hates, history, relations, memories, etc.. I suppose it is similar to what a DM (dungeon master if you don't role-play) has to do when making a campaign for their players. A really awesome DM is able to flesh out their NPCs (non-player-characters, essentially OCs) and make them seem truly alive and reactive to the world being explored. A poorly created OC/NPC seems flat and one dimensional.
