I was gonna stat in WoW but tempted over to EQ2 instead because for two lizard races.

I may have a slight bias in that regard.

Oh, geez, EQ is so boring to me. Lots of waiting for spawns, too much grinding...

Oh I absolutely love it. I kind of play it on and off but I'm always in love with the evolving story. Which is strange as I haven't even personally been to Outland yet.  :P

What I do like about it is how liberally it mixes genre conventions, different cosmic powers, and their own creativity to create such a rich, if at times confusing, universe.

I'm a RPer in the game. Even if no one is around, I still prefer to act and speak in character and only take quests that my toon would be interested in pursuing. It makes my play experience all the more immersive.

My two mains are a Draenei Vindicator (Paladin) and a Pandaren Monk.

Then why are you in this thread?

Because I am posting my opinion, if you don't like it, tough.  :dash:

Okay then, slightly more constructive post. I used to play this game for 3 years inbetween the age of 14 and 17, it completely ruined my social life back then and I realized it was a massive waste of time, all of the traditional MMO's are. Spend your time in a virtual world gearing up, leveling up, then the next game comes out and now all your gear is insignificant so you have to do it all again.

WoW and Blizzard are using outdated formulas / methods to addict players to the game to farm as much money out of them as possible. Realisticly theres nothing good about it anymore.

  • Hugely outdated Graphics
  • Traditional boring grind / quest system
  • Totally Linear Quest line
  • Very little in game story
  • You can now BUY levels / experience
  • Game rampant with people with illegally bought Gold / bought accounts.
  • Games out there with far better story, combat, graphics and over all everything

If people want to play it though it's their choice and I don't knock anyone for it since I wasted 3 years of my life on it. You should try games like EvE online which actually offer freedom, require intelligence and a very respectable company running it with frequent updates, though of course as any online game that too can become very addicting.

I could have seen your point up until you insulted my intelligence. Also, the grind in EVE is FAR more boring than WoW's.

So, if I said that connect the dots doesn't require intelligence and you were doing it that means im insulting your intelligence? Please stop being so oversensitive. also im not here to argue / defend EvE but yeah it is a really grindy game if you go the boring PvE route and don't use imagination

Maybe you could have worded your argument in a better way instead of coming in here with extreme hatred against WoW and spewing whatever first came into your head. Honestly, it's like going into the PC Master Race thread and posting why you love consoles over PCs. It's irrelevant and not much fun to deal with, as opposed to sharing stories and making friends with the other bronies who happen to like the game, which is what this thread is here for.

And, to further damn yourself, you refused to apologize and explain your wording in a kindly fashion and then accuse me of being oversensitive, and then imply that I don't have or use imagination.

Honestly I don't see why you are getting so wound up, I posed constructively of why I thought it's a bad game, someone else posted 'I quit that drug a long time ago' previously, he didn't get ripped on. As I said earlier it's simply called having an opinion and this thread does not specifically say that it's just for positive opinions.

Now, as I said earlier, please stop being so sensitive on an internet forum, there will always be opinions you don't agree with, it's just the way the world works, to be a little blunt you just seem a bit self absorbed saying 'I should apologize', agreed if I did something wrong then I would but in this case, nada, I don't think you are in any position to say i've 'damned myself'   :toldya:

I hope this is the last post I have to make here. I leave you with this:

  • 2 weeks later...

Did a heroic dungeon for the first time, Bloodmaul Slag Mines.

Wiped 3 times before both healers left, and then the tank, and then everybody quit. I love doing dungeons, but it's annoying to group with people who can't heal for shit, and then the tank goes afk and yeah, it was a waste of time. Then I did the annoying train dungeon on heroic and only wiped once.

Anypony else here more into the RP side of things rather than the PVE or PVP? Not that I have a problem with either of those, just that the first is chiefly why I play the game.

In addition, anypony pick their class/race combo based off of some reflection of your personality?

I don't engage in RP myself, but I like being on RP servers because its cool seeing people interacting with each other out in the world.

I don't really like the controls much in world of warcraft. If I can change them i think id try it for longer.

I prefer LOTRO kinda as well. But it is still a good game.

Oh and the south park episode is amazing.

I was did the play free until level twenty thing and I really enjoyed exploring the world, though I didn't get to see very much. what I did see impressed me a lot.

I played as a gnome and I'm always been a fan of mountains, so the starting area was perfect for me.

but I can see this game getting old pretty fast unless I managed to make some friends there.

It's always been a game that I wanted to try out, and I can see myself getting it once I've gotten my new laptop.

I like the game play, (even though I tend to like first person view for RPG) and I really liked the fact that when you die you become a ghost and have to go to the place you died.

it was so cool when I first heard about it. :3

Why don't you RP then? I mean if you like RPing, why not try it yourself?

Honestly? Social anxiety.

Usually I can talk to people online without much difficulty, but every time I try to RP with people I get really nervous about it. When I can get my head in the right place, I'd like to actually RP sometime.

I'm on the same boat as Banul. I have a character on Moon Guard that I would get on every now and then, mainly to observe the RP that's around me. If I am familiar with a person, I may be able to engage in a legitimate (albiet short) RP. But improvising one with a stranger out of the blue isn't something I'm able to do often.

Maybe you could try some WoW RP here for practice?

Most RPs aren't that improvised. The two characters know they are going to meet and a little about one another. This is especially what makes RP guilds great.

True, that was just one example I was using. I wouldn't be able to do a formal RP either. Maybe I'd be a little more comfortable doing something spontaneously comedic, as that wouldn't require much design or coherent thought, something I'd get nervous trying to produce in a normal RP.

On the other hand, what you describe is also one of the easiest to misinterpret and frustrate in someone who doesn't know you're trying to be comedic or isn't in the mood for comedy roleplay.

I used to play only to RP.

I was in a Tauren guild for years, where we would sit every evening around the campfire, telling stories. It was amazing. I loved this time so much. But our guild leader was quite a big personality and got a lot of hate from other guilds so he slowly disappeared and the guild disbanded.

Then I joined in some Blood Elf Blood Knight guild. It was really cool in the beginning, I started as an initiate and worked my way up the ranks up until I had my own squire. I even commissioned a drawing of my girl and my mentor:

But then I stopped. Usually RP always ends up with someone falling for the other and then people get hurt etc.

Good Luna, does anypony besides me have a WoW experience that they would call a net gain positive experience with no tragedy or sad endings?!

That being said that is a really cool story and rendering. Am I the only one who kind of liked the Blood Knights better when they were still jerks?  :P

I do a lot of PvE/PvP, so I still have a lot of fun. My guild raids regularly, and we all have lots of fun.
