English translation of the video: "When you're making music and you want people to like it, you have to make music with in a certain vision. I mean I can come up with a drum & bass track (that is really fast, weird, hard, gabber like music). Then everybody will say: what the hell is this?: nothing. You have to make what will fit in the market"

I shared this video in a status update earlier, but I wanted to know what you people think of his view as well. I simply think he should fuck off. He's obviously just in it for the money... sigh...

I feel so hipster, I saw your status update before it went mainstream. Ugh.

Either way, is anyone surprised? I mean, let's face it, how many musicians are there for their art? I mean, honestly, with the quality content heard of radio these days, no one's in shock. What's funny to me is that he thinks that he somehow sounded artistic. I bet he thought he was giving an excuse. But really he was quite literally saying, I'm in it for the money.

This one is a tad less creepy. Wouldn't you agree?

I know it's not a very big shocker at all. Of course most, if not all, of the mainstream artists are in it for the money.

But what ticks me off here is the way he's saying it.

You have to make what will fit in the market

If everybody did that, there'd be no variety at all.

The path to success is not misleading; It is the intention to walk the path of success that's misleading. It's a creativity killer, it's the cause of most writers blocks, it turns you from an artist into a hungry crowd pleaser, always one step behind chasing success, instead of the step ahead you were before you became big - Maybe, if you give up the need to be successful, the magic begins to happen once more.

This is the challenge of a career in music.

Any genere that takes a step into the mainstream spotlight will feel the effects of

. Thankfully, not all artists have their sights set on monetary gains - it just means we have to dig a little deeper to find the real music. Edited by Swoop
