Most annoying/common grammar mistakes

Why is it that so many people don't realize that there's no such word as ANYWAYS? It's ANYWAY! That's my most annoying one. I also hate how people keep adding commas to keep their sentence going; that's called a Run-on sentence. I HATE THOSE!

People "setting" down instead of sitting. I hear that all the time in the South, and it bugs the shit out of me. It also bothers me when people use semicolons incorrectly; they try to make themselves look intelligent by throwing them in every so often.

Oh boy, I really missed my calling as an editor...

There's a car audio place not too far from here that has had this huge banner on its building ever since I moved here, which reads "CAR STEREO'S".

Car Stereo's WHAT!?

Condo's For Rent!

And then there's the Mens Room at one of my favorite restaurants.

"SMILE YOUR ON CAMERA"

I could go on and on... but let me just finish by saying that it really annoys me when people don't finish their

I am kind of a grammar nazi too, and something that really gets me is uncapitalized 'i's.

It is so annoying; it makes me want to punch a hole in whatever device I am using at the time. Also, using the wrong 'there' in a sentence.

EDIT: I sometimes go to this optometrist near my old house, and in this picture on the wall they have this written-

"It's no suprise, when it come to your eyes, you deserve the best..."

Every time I walk in there I'm extremely tempted to tell the person at the front desk. XD

Some that come to my mind:

"Definately" instead of definitely

"legit" instead of "Legitimate"

"Then" instead of "Than", and vise-versa

I absolutely hate grammatical errors.

Yes, I am a grammar nazi, and will be very annoyed if someone makes a mistake in their punctuation or spelling.

I sometimes talk in the "internet slang language" using "u" "dat" "der". But only if I'm acting goofy.

If I meet someone that uses this 'language', I instantly dislike them.

Ponys instead of ponies. Studys instead of studies. Babys instead of babies. Summarys instead of summaries. SO ANNOYING! It's not hard to change the plural ending!

I don't usually care much about spelling and grammar. (Because my grammar is also pretty bad lol)

But one thing that bugs the hell out of me is

When People Type Like This I Don't Know Why The Heck Are They Doing This It's Just So Painful To Read.

That hurt to type >_>

I agree with you 150%

People using capital letters at the start of every word is, (I'm not joking) VERY painful to read.

Like I said, I'm not joking. It IS painful.

I'm also a bit of a grammar nazi. I always feel very annoyed when people use your/you're wrong.

The reason: I'm from Belgium, I learn English by myself, and it's better than some American people.

How is that even possible?!

(It isn't perfect at all, but at least I TRY to spell everything right. sleep.png )

Oh grammar. why do you have to aggravate so many people. There, Their and They're annoys me the most but your and you're is pretty bad to. Title case when not required and no title case when required is also bad. Why do you hurt so many people grammar?

Oh, also, I saw a truck a while back that read, "IF YOUR GONNA DO IT DO IT RIGHT" (I think it was advertising a moving company - not sure.) Wish I had gotten a picture - I would have sent it in to one of those wtf sites.

No offence to anyone, also because a number of people have used this spelling in the thread itself, but "grammer". Yes, it is fairly phonetic and follows the basic rules of English orthography, but the correct spelling is "grammar". This is not a debatable issue, as in "color" and "colour", the latter of which I personally prefer, but grammar is grammar is grammar, is not grammer.<br /><br />When someone makes a common typo, like if instead of of, I can understand because it's a short article (so checkers tend to skip over them subconsciously) and I and O are close together on a keyboard, both in Qwerty and Colemak, and I'll be damned if using your right ring finger to type an I without moving the right pinky for O isn't hard.<br /><br />I rarely have issues with people who start sentences with conjunctions, but please, for the love of a deity, use a comma! "And he went to the store." makes it seem like you ran out of breath. "And, he went to the store." Ah, so he did it as well?<br /><br />"But I didn't know!" You even sound whiny over the internet.<br />"But, I didn't know!" A fair rebut, if not quite powerless.<br /><br />I'll admit, I'm a grammar speckler to the point of compulsion (in that I once spent two hours fixing grammatical errors in someone's essay which they never asked me to do), but I never correct someone's statement without giving a rebut of some sort. So if they say "ur opinyun is rong", I'd reply: "What, in your view, is faulty with my own personal opinion, and how would you change it? Oh, and for the future, it's 'Your opinion is wrong'."

EDIT: Oh yeah, and "alot" and "a tun".

A pet peeve of mine is when people use apostrophes to pluralize something, such as "All bread's on sale" etc.

Otherwise, people's grammar mistakes do not usually bother me.

Well, in that case, "All bread's on sale" could mean either "All of our multiple breads are on sale", or "All bread is on sale" - both are technically and grammatically acceptable.  On the other hand, my "CAR STEREO'S" example above has no such excuse. :)

I saw someone mention "For all intensive purposes" earlier.  That one is a pet peeve for me too - the correct phrase is "For all intents and purposes."

Here are some infamous ones that grind my shit and bring my piss to a boil:

Your/you're.
Were/we're/where.
Hear/here/her.
Weird/wierd.
They'reTthere/their.
Should have/should of.
"For all intensive purposes".
Grammar/grammer.
And lastly, "ur", "u", "u r", "u're".
