So what's the consensus on pony TF2 parallels. Fluttershy is Medic, and Rainbow Dash is obviously Scout. Pinkie Pie seems to be Pyro, and Applejack is Engineer if for no other reason than she has a southern accent. Rarity is Spy because fashion? Who is Twilight? I'd peg her as Medic or Engineer, but with those taken, nothing else seems to fit her. Certainly not Demoman or Heavy. Sniper makes no sense as well. For some reason, I see Luna as Demoman. No clue who would be Heavy and Sniper though.

I would say that most people portray Twilight to be the sniper due to her over-obsession with precision (headshots) and that they both seem rather crazy and talk to themselves.

Man, I'm surprised I've never posted in this thread before! I love TF2!

My favorite classes to play as are normally Scout and Pyro (contrary to what might be expected from my avatar), but I'll generally play as whatever is needed on team.

"Burger Sniper" is just a sort of TF2 persona I use when making GMod and SFM videos.

Haven't played for a while, but I might pick this up again, I used to be pretty good. You guys have a dedicated server? I used to run one, not very good at modding though.

I just got into Team Fortress 2 the same time I became a PC gamer and I play as the scout class. My problem is as stated above my aim is horrible. Don't get me wrong, I do get kills as the scout but that's only sometimes.

-----

If anyone would be so kind to help me out, how can I improve my aim as a scout?

Do you have the Force 'o Nature? That taught me how to conserve my shots and aim well. Make sure you get in close to your target. Scout isn't about mouse aiming as much as timing. Strafe past your target, timing your shot to hit as you fly by. Don't shoot blindly, dodge around and wait for the right moment.

As Righteous Fury says, you might want to try aiming via strafing; basically not using your cursor to aim at the enemy but rather running to the sides and shooting whenever the enemy meets your crosshair.

I don't do that myself, though when I play the Scout.

I'd say that you'll get your aim up time and practice!

I think I'm going to try that with the Force A Nature. I've never been all that great at Scout. Mostly I just empty my clip and run away. After awhile that amounts to some kills, but there's not much skill in it.

FaN isn't as good as the scattergun (some people kick ass with the triple jump, but the general consensus is that it's a downgrade) but it will teach you to get the most out of your shots. The scattergun felt so damn OP after I switched back.

The strafe-aim thing works for me, but then I suck at mouse aim. Can't play sniper to save my life. But as a scout, you should be moving constantly, and it's hard to move your viewpoint while running around without making a big mess.

Playing Spy will help your movement skills.

I can't play Spy worth a damn, and I don't see how anyone can. It seems very slow and based on camping where after you get one kill, someone somewhere sees and kills you. I can understand picking off targets on large maps, but places like 2 Fort and Dustbowl seem pointless, that I'm amazed when anyone playing Spy gets a lot of kills there. There's always a Heavy or Pyro nearby or a Soldier who comes out of nowhere and kills you with one rocket. Even before I get into killing position, everyone spy-checks everyone.

Spy relies heavily on your own team distracting the enemy team. It's easy to kill enemies when they are shooting at other people or distracted in some other way and after the stab you should have some time to cloak and run away if the others spotted you. It's also easier to kill players who act in a predictable way, so try to be as unpredictable as you can.

I gotta say I am average joe at playing TF2 and I do enjoy sniper, medic, and scout because those classes are just really entertaining to play as.

I almost stopped playing because I was getting mad how my bro is finding all the hats, miscs, etc.

it's mainly about choosing a good time to uncloak. as has been said, wait until the team's distracted, they'll all be facing one way, uncloak behind them and start stabbing.

know each map, learn the ammo caches and side routes. still, sometimes you will die because of bad luck - the secret is to take advantage of cracks in the enemy's defence and exploit them as much as you can.

It's old, but it's gold. I'm also serious with this, I suggest watching and reading what you will see in this video.

Once you feel you have the general feel of how a spy shall act, you can adjust your loadout to fit your gamestyle.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-qD30EOO-o

A couple of things to note:

The teleporter effect was updated and won't give off your spy identity anymore.

As shown in a bubble; wandering infront of a firing zone is generally a bad idea since you might flicker; giving off your position.

Players with sharp ears hears you uncloak if you're too close, try to find a safe spot to do that (Unless you're a saharan spy). This applies ESPECIALLY to deadringer.

Discussion starting thing: If you were absolutely forced to choose a single class to be removed from TF2, which class would you choose?

Myself, I'd probably choose Sniper, since the game is largely mid-to-short-range, and here you have a 1shot-from-safe-distance class. He takes fun from the game because instead of it being "I better be careful to watch the entrances to make sure nobody rushes the point!", it's "I better constantly hop around like a rabbit on cocaine so that a sniper doesn't instantly drain my 450 HP!". It feels like he breaks the game in a way. He's not like the spy, who has to rely on stealth skill and getting close to the target to get his instant kill. The sniper just lines his cursor up over the target's face and clicks from a safe distance. While aiming for a headshot, simply repeatedly scoring bodyshots can be enough. It's why the Sydney Sleeper exists. On top of that, he gets a guaranteed crit combo that is also capable of random crits, the Bushwacka and Jarate. So not only do you have a long-distance killing class also capable of a variant of Puff 'n Sting, but his version can also randomly crit, so it doesn't even matter too much if he misses with the Jarate.

I'd take out the sniper too, he just doesn't really add much to the game IMO

pyro's pretty weird too, but it has it's uses, sniper's niche is basically covered by spy

although if you take out sniper heavy will need a pretty big nerf to compensate

Lone snipers behind the enemy lines are huge spy targets.

Soldier might be a class I could do without. I like the class and all but he doesn't really do anything special. Nearly everything he can do can be done by other classes like demoman and heavy.

What's even more fun is who's on the blue team. I see Trixie as snoiper, Nurse Redheart as medic, Flim/Flam as engineer, Derpy as demoman, Scoot as scout... Pyro, Spy, Heavy, and Soldier still need ponies. Care to help me complete my headcanon?

Spike as Pyro, Donut Joe as Spy, Snowflake/Roid Rage as Heavy, Spitfire as Soldier.

Derpy as Demoman makes a frightening amount of sense.

Pinkie as Soldier

Rainbow as Scout

Twilight as Medic

Fluttershy as Pyro

Applebloom as Engineer

Spike as Heavy

Rarity as Spy

Applejack as Sniper

Discord as Demoman

I don't know why.

I'm now imagining Spike firing a minigun that's larger than he is.

Also, these: http://stupjam.deviantart.com/gallery/33743294

Thought you ought to know. The Sui-cider made me laugh particularly hard.

Dammit, I cannot get Spy right. It's such a tedious play style, where you either have to be careful as hell and cloak whenever you're within 100 meters of an enemy. Even if I was good, the most I'd be is a mega dirt bag - camping and backstabbing. You get booted from servers doing that shit in other games.

yes

all of that is true

but when everything goes your way

it is GLORIOUS

you are dominating half the enemy team and everyone goes pyro to vainly try and stop you

best feeling ever
