I don't know what it is about MLP servers, but the players on there are always too good for their own fucking good. One moment I'm in the top three on a server, yet I can barely get a 1:1 kill/death ration on the fucking pony servers. I'm up to my eyes in fucking elitism with this goddamn fandom.

I used to play Team Fortress and Team Fortress 2 until I got my mobo burnt, so now I am not playing any computer games.

My fave class is the Spy class (though I have been playing as Medic most of the time).

Which reminds me of this one........

I've had so many different experiences with TF2 during its 4 years. I've played the classic game, been a trade addict and been a casual player as of recent.

Have to say my favourite class as of now is the Sniper, mainly because of how rewarding a headshot can be, especially one of your friends heads. laugh.png

I really regret the amount of time I spent on trade servers instead of playing the actual game, 'cause at the end of the day, all you have is a bunch of virtual hats. Not sure what made me crave for more. I play the game for what is is now and I enjoy every bit of it!

Of course, I "tweaked" it slightly to my liking!

I know the feel bro, but there is a happy medium with the whole trading thing. I currently have a misty skull tricorne among other things but still spend most of my time moderating servers or playing mann up mode. The virtual hats are cool as long as you play the game they exist for, which is team fortress 2, not trade fortress 2. Obviously I main demoman, its just so fun watching people explode on the press of  mouse2 while they may not even see you from all the way across the map, and how many times they probably need to change their pants when they stumble upon a stickybomb trap. Btw guys add me on steam, name is watamacha

How do people actually get enough to trade for unusuals and buds? Each would cost hundreds of refined metal. Do people just buy them with real money and then start trading because I don't see how anyone could ever amass enough metal.

I'd say luck...

...but those who manage to save up for it, usually trade in their metal chunks for keys which are then used to get said unusuals or buds that also leads to it.

Idling with a bunch of accounts is the ub3r h4rdc0re tr4d3r way. It's funny, the traders dump all this metal in the "economy" like that, but it rarely gets used, so it just piles up.

It's a shame that the only things worth anything are unusual hats and buds. All that metal could make a ton of other hats. I agree with you though on how broken TF2 trading is, and it bothers me when people refer to it as an economy.

The problem is, obviously, the people who are setting these item values are the same people who profit when keys are suddenly 6 refined each. The only way the TF2 "economy" could be fixed would be for Valve to step in and set their own item values. Valve themselves does not trade (Unless you call the "micro"transactions trading) so they wouldn't have the traders' motive to artificially alter prices for their own gain. Plus, Valve did hire an economist, so it would only make sense they'd put him to use, right?

I'm pretty sure if Valve set up their own chart, especially if it was accessible from a button in the TF2 menu for convenience, then these run-by-greed trader sites would shrivel up and die.

Keys are another thing I don't understand. Why are keys even currency? You have to buy them with real money, so they already have a fixed price. The idea that keys can change in value is beyond ridiculous. I don't care if metal is deflated. It makes more sense than using currency that has a set exchange rate while simultaneously having a second, changing rate.

I'd like an MMO style auction house more than the threadbare method that exists now. There are a panoply of TF2 trading sites, and all of them seem to have different values for items, and they all support auctions and trading, probably based on their own values as well. The only reason I would even look up values is to keep from being cheated by this stupid kid who keeps trying to by my items for nothing, telling me it "wouldn't hurt" to have two strange stickybomb launchers or trying to get me to give him two Mint paints for one hat.

It's not complete yet, but it is run by Valve so you can't be scammed out of your items, and the currency used is real money so it's easy to understand exactly what the values of the items are. Valve does make a profit, but the maximum profit is made by matching the price to the market, not by just jacking up prices (at least in this model). I personally love it and wish they would expand what can be traded (and maybe start cleaning up the garbage offers, you can store stuff there indefinitely just by posting a ridiculous price for it that nobody would pay).

That works for item-for-money transactions, but it doesn't solve item-for-item transaction problems. Not only that, but there's the 200$ cap on sales profits due to legal reasons.

I think there needs to be some form of automated trading post, where you can put up some items and select what you want for them, then people can browse through the listings and if they see a trade they want to do, they provide the wanted items and the transaction completes, with the two users never directly interacting with each other.

Wow, cents for vintage items. Part of me just wants to get all of them for peanuts. I made the mistake of breaking down most of the vintage weapons I originally got from achievements back when I started playing. Also I wish I could petition Valve to give me one of those swanky Veteran badges, given that I was playing TF2 on the Xbox for Orange Box when that came out.

I was just wondering, what is everypony's favourite Saxxy Award video? There are some really good ones out there, some of which don't get the recognition they deserve. Post your favourites!

Tried playing Pyro earlier. Cannot do it. I can never seem to get the timing on air blasts right, and I can't aim the flare gun worth a damn either. I also have this problem where I get nervous and can't concentrate on switching weapons and performing complex tasks, like setting someone on fire, air blasting them upward, and then immediately switching to axetinguisher to kill them. Don't even bother asking me to set them on fire, air blast them backward, and then switch to flare to shoot them. I just blank out in those situations.

You can still be helpful as a pyro. Extinguishing burning teammates and spy-checking are both very important things to do and that way you can be helpful even without getting much kills. I sometimes like to just ditch my Axtinguisher and Flare gun for the Homewrecker and the Scorch shot and then just stick near a sentry nest, protecting it from stickies, übers and spies. Engies will love you when you do that.

Figured out that I LOVE Mann vs. Machine. I either play Engy and have fun with my Wrangler or run around as Scout and whack people with my Frying Pan.

As far as normal RED vs. BLU playing goes, I suck horribly. But still. BATTLE ENGY ALL The WAY.

Can somebody please tell me why people hate battle medics? I think playing a battle medic is awesome, and they can usually be a "credit to team". Please explain!

If the medic is just syringing and sawing people, he isn't doing his actual job of healing and providing ubers...which is FAR more important than getting kills yourself. It renders him basically useless by doing something he really shouldn't be doing anyway.

Well, I was thinking more about the medics that do healing, but also are partly combat based. The ones that will still help out the team when they need healed, but also will fight when there is none of the team around. Like the medic in the video, "Dumkopfs".

That's not called battle medic. Battle medics are roughly equivalent to SMG snipers, thought slightly more effective due to having a slightly larger and regenerating health pool, and the multiple options for the syringe gun and melee.

What you described is called "realizing that each class has multiple weapons for a reason".

Oh right! Oops! smile.png I still hate it when you pull out the syringe gun to defend yourself, and then your team starts screaming "BATTLE MEDIC!!!" at you and call you a disgrace to the team.

Well if you go into a place with your team, they all die, and then you take out whatever the threat was... they're just going to have to admit that they suck and get on with their lives. Or whine about the fact that you are better than them at their job AND your job, that's probably the more likely outcome.

Oh, but being a battle medic is so much fun!

On a serious note, you know what I find amusing about the topic of medic?
People who complain in this fashion:

"Noob you had medic". XD

I just went on the most amazing medic ham-streak ever earlier, and I caught it all on demo. I'll upload it some time in the future.

I shall name the video... HAMPAGE.

Edit: I actually went on several streaks and even managed to dominate 2 players and kill a few heavies.

@@Jozzeh,

"Noob you had medic"

- Someone who thought they could outsmart bullet

...

They were wrong.

They couldn't outsmart Medic either

Heck, they couldn't even outsmart Heavy. (He has a degree in Russian Literature you know.)

They couldn't even outsmart Sentry, and it doesn't even have a brain (yet).

Mini-sentry too, and that's like, tiny baby sentry.

I should probably stop this at some point, most likely now considering I don't have anything else to say.

Yep, definitely now.
