I try to play all classes to practice at them.

I'm best with Pyro and Scout, though.

The new scattergun is kinda annoying, being a backburner for a scout....but eh. Now that stupid new demo shield, that thing is really stupid. Makes being a soldier a pain in the ass...but they is no match for my mad syringe gun skills!

They did "nerf" the Tide Turner, since it unexpectedly refilled the charge meter for each melee kill before they debugged it.

I kinda have a feeling the Tide Turner was inspired by this TF2 bug where, if you had a 120Hz monitor, you had 100% turning control with the Wee Booties.

There's also this bug where the announcer would repeatedly say "Overtime!" that was added back to the game as a server cvar.

I kinda get the feeling it's overtime.

Woohoo I got TF2! Only at the cost of some lag and low definition graphics. Dang PC...

Although I heard about "Chris configs." Has anyone used them?

I used them on my old laptop. They make the game look like shit, but it runs smooth as butter and was really really useful for competitive where low FPS would have been my downfall had I not been playing engineer in highlander at the time.

I use pokemon showdown because I can't afford a 2DS :c

Yeah, I learned some startup codes to make it even better!! It runs just as good, if not better than ZDoom. And my CPU is horrible, at 2 cores 1.4 Ghz.

Although my version couldn't run the facial animations and so I got this:

Nothing to do with 120hz monitor afaik. The more frames you had, the more you could turn with the wee booties, Star_ actually explained it by using different quality configs, capping/uncapping his fps, etc...

I use them to gain better fps, works fantastic. The quality is awful though, but that's the price for more frames. :P

Still, I'm afraid that with your CPU, your performance won't increase so much. TF2 is terribly optimized, so you might get a stable 30+ framerate at best using Chris' maxframes cfg. Running TF2 in fullscreen with a smaller resolution (800x600 or even 640x480) can help as well.

Yeah, that's what I meant. If you ran the game at 120FPS (which would typically require a 120Hz monitor), you had insane turning control with the wee booties.

You don't need a 120hz monitor to run at 120 fps,

It's just that if you don't run the game at at least 120 fps, a 120hz monitor is pretty much useless. But turning with the booties is possible even with a 60hz monitor as long as you get enough frames. Nothing in TF2 depends of your refresh rate, it will probably depends of your frames.

Ah, forgive me for that. I'm on a laptop, so getting 120FPS ain't as easy for me.

No problem, I'm on a laptop as well :P Maybe Chris' configs could help you a bit to run the game better.

Nah, I'm fine with 60FPS. Still smooth enough for smooth gameplay most of the time.

That's nice to know. Especially since I barely get any money and It'll be a while since I get some upgrades to have a fully complete mid-end PC. Also I found codes online for the properties like: "dat_dxlevel" (I think that's the name.) and "-threads 2" which uses both cores instead of one. (Or more cores if you have any.)

And yeah, I can agree frames is better than looks.

Reading the description, the Tide Turner and the new scout weapon seem to be op. The Scattershot is a very strong weapon, and giving that minicrits on close range hits seems like overkill.

The Backscatter really isnt all that OP. I crafted it about a week ago, and while it is one of my preferred scout weapons, it isnt all that great. Mini crits are good, but you only get in like 1 or 2 before youre killed.

Not sure at all about dat_dxlevel. I'm pretty sure it would be useless, but if you go into your lanch parameters (TF2 "right click" > Properties > Launch parameters), you can use dxlevel 8.1 by typing -dxlevel 81.

Here are the Chris' configs if you want ! https://chrisdown.name/tf2/

Chris doesn't keep them updated but it still works like a charm. <:

So this is my first time playing TF2 in a while (haven't been able to play lately because of medical concerns)

I'm willing to bet the server has at least one shpee, one w+m1 pyro, and/or one sticky spammer

It's not very surprising is there are zero Medics on both teams, actually...though it is a bit justified since it's not a "fun" playing the Medic due to the general lack of kills on that class. (Though it doesn't make the Medic any less important in more serious and competitive matches.)
