gaming I just had the creepiest if not weirdest dream o_O

So I literally just been woken up after a brain storm and it has been a really weird moment, I had this dream about a horror game that kinda scared the hell out of me, so I decided I wanted to try and recreate it lol even if I have no skills in programming whatsoever, i kinda know what style I wanna go in and which direction to take it, considering that the dream I had scared the crap out of me xD

Funny, I just had a dream about Minecraft. It was very frustrating, and I think it came from this one dungeon on the forums server not working for me because my connection was too bad to get through pistons in time.

The basic concept before I was rudely awoken because It scared the hay out of me but I will explain what I caught; it was quite a surreal game, cause i was dreaming as if it where an actual 3D game, but there was a song it aswell lol can't remember that though. but you are just a normal guy, who lives life in a city struggling to make ends meat. and the game is started where you meet you best friend (The Evil one that basically tries to kill you throughout the game (The Lurker?) - just a quick something I put in because it seemed to fit the bad guy) and you have to run and hide, but make sure you choose wisely or he will get you, so hiding in toilet stalls, under beds, anywhere. with a couple of jumpscares adding in here and there. it is kinda a multiple choice game but not one that veres off of story line so one scene for instance (your hiding in the toilet stall with one of those half doors that only comes upto your waist (the lurker is after you and you gotto hide *there will be hints on where you gotto hide at certain points because this bad guy will look for you and he will find you, so your in pitch black can't see alot it's a fairly darkish game and the shadows are sorta your friends but not all the time, the stall curled up in a ball covering yourself up trying to do the whole if I can't see him he can't see me act, but you peek through a gap in your hoof and he has gone "this is the first time you see his face" so here is where multiple choice comes up you can stand up, stay there a bit longer (although if left to long he will come back) or crawl and peek under the door and *jumpscare right there* if you stand up he jumps up at you from out of the shadows, if you peep under the stall door his he comes at you from below, if you stay there too long and he finds you he will basically tear you to peices) although he has no physical form he can change throughout the game, depending on how much you hide, and how long you hang around. so he will either become angrier, scarier, move faster, or do more jumpscares

 

P.s Oh yeah and also no pony else can see him only you, so if he chases you in the middle of a busy town centre everypony can see you acting insane, but they can't see him at all, not yet at least

It's a cross between Silent hill, amnesia, and a few others.

 

oh yeah and also not only do you have to deal with the whole going insane with the Lurker after you, you also have to deal with problems in everyday life, i,e in one scene your sticking up for a homeless guy, another one you try to save a childs life, your attacked by a gang, you sneak into a club with your friends and get busted and thrown out (and you hide again even though it isn't the lurker ) so it has it's moments

 

but this is only a dream so i got some studying if I am gonna make this into a game

Sounds awesome. Curse you now I want to play this. Funny thing, I was actually thinking it sounded a lot like Amnesia while reading it. Quick idea, you should choose one song, and have it come back through out the entire game. And now I have this vision of hiding in a toilet while something like that hop-scotch song plays... Well, I'm not sleeping tonight.

it is very much like amnesia but in my mind alot more interesting the only issue I am really having is I have no idea what programs to use how to do any of this kinda stuff I can think of a good idea no problem making it happen a whole different story so if anypony can kinda point me in the right direction cause I am kinda lost xD

 

oh yeah one of the main aspects of this game is that this creature lives off of fear so the more scared the character is the quicker he will find you

That sounds like an interesting idea to turn into a game. A bit similar to a few other indie horror titles I've played before, but I can't help but love those types of games. The right direction would be to start learning the basics of programming and perhaps looking into python and the pygame module. Pygame is primarily for 2D cross platform games, but it's a good start to understand how to design a game in general.

 

From there, I'm not sure. Java is a possibility, but every time I think about java, I think of Minecraft's shoddy performance... There are also those game makers, but I've never really liked them that much.

I have the books to study (Twilight Sparkle coming back into action) I would like to try and stick with a 3D concept though I may be aiming high, don't suppose you have any source or links to a website by any chance
