I have been reading reviews on the new movie Red Dawn. I also had a friend see it recently...Its horrible. The character acting is obviously way over done, its anti-climactic, predictable, and un-believable. I mean come on... North Korea invading the USA, Please! Came you come up with a better idea like China! North Korea does not have the military, numbers, strength, training, weapons, transportation, etc to even come close to invading the USA. And if North Korea did parachute onto the beaches of California, they would probably hit the ground, immediately put their hands up and say "I SURRENDER, Please take me to the nearest McDonalds!" plus the director was a stuntman for 30 years, and its believed he should have stuck with the job. So in essence the movie is not worth seeing.

I didn't like the original, but wouldn't mind checking out this new one. I did like the original cast, but the final product just wasn't my bag. Going from Russians to Koreans is kind of odd, but I'll have to see how it turns out before passing judgement.

If North Korea even thought about attacking the United States, the entire country would be torn to the ground before they launched the three, maybe, two planes they actually have that are capable of trans-pacific transport.

I read that it was actually china but they edited it to be north korea so the movie wouldn't get banned in china and cause a boycott of US products, I remember they they even used the distinct CCP symbol with Chinese letter on it for their teaser site.I think that they should've made a movie about how CPUSA won and started to kill Americans from within instead coz it's 1000X more likely than some foreign country attacking a nuclear superpower.

Ugh, they really need to stop with these useless film remakes. It just looses so much of what made the original so special during the 80's, that it might as well be another movie altogether. Plus, the entire thing seems pretentious at this point.

North Korea does anything stupid it's their untrained army against the entire world. China only supports them with trade. They are quite critical of their antics for the most part. No matter how many personnel they have they are essentially a very large militia that could not in a million years take America.

Whoa! Hold on! North Korea IS allies with China. And even though China's military is not well trained or well supplied, they have massive numbers. And if China and Korea teamed up...WE would be screwed. We can't take on that many troops by ourselves, And thats when our Allies come help...or not. But the possibility of them winning an invasion teamed up like that could be likely. But WE don't only have a US Military...we have the worlds largest guns to person numbers. In the US guns out number citizens 9-1. And armed citizens can be very dangerous. So the possibility of us winning and them winning could easily be 50-50.

North Korea could admirably defend their own country. I have no doubt that any attempt to invade would result in massive losses for the attacking nation. However, North Korea has absolutely no potential whatsoever for invading somebody else. Most of their infantry's equipment is ancient Soviet stuff and their vehicles are pitifully obsolete. They have one model of aircraft that has a chance against modern jets from the US, but ours still outclasses theirs and our pilots have way more experience. Their navy is entirely diesel.

The idea of North Korea invading the United States is so absurd that I can't suspend my disbelief enough for this movie. It'll be relegated to one of my bad movie nights at home on a rainy Saturday evening.

I don't know why people keeps repeating this mantra when their military tech is on par with the US.They create copies of US drones they obtain from Israel, modern aircraft carriers and modern fighter planes. The average chinese soldier is better trained than their western counterpart since the autocratic government doesn't care about human rights and deaths in the training process, physical fitness and firing accuracy of ground troops is way above any other country.

Then you assume that they would care for taking prisoners if they ever manage to somehow defeat us military and play by the geneva convention, it's easier to kill all survivors and move in 100 million of their population and implement a 10 child policy.

I wasn't expecting much, but to be honest it wasn't that bad. Sure, there's not much of a story (and obviously it's not a very plausible story at that), and the overall feel isn't as polished as other movies, but there was a lot more shooting than most other movies, and relatively little blood. As a young adult male who enjoys such activities that involve firearms, I enjoyed that quite a bit. XD

It wasn't that bad. I mean, no, it wasn't a great movie, but I liked it.

Honestly, I don't really care how plausible it is if North Korea invaded, or a bunch of kids becoming skilled at urban guerrilla warfare in a few weeks. Plenty of action, shooting, and at the end, there was a mustang with a 50-cal mounted on the top :)

Sometimes you don't need good acting, well-written plots, or anything like that. It's why Transformers: Dark of the Moon was worth watching :)

Just remember that this is through my opinion. Im not saying that you don't have to like it or that you can't  go watch it. I just said this stuff because im a very logical person. Kind of like twilight. If it makes no sense or seems weird, strange, implausible, or just impossible...I don't like it. Kind of like...MATH!

Oh, I know. I wasn't trying to argue with you or anything, I was just surprised that everybody in here was railing on it when my friends and I all thought it was a decent, but not great, movie.

I'm also a very logical person (ask anyone here who has ever debated with me :)), I just go into an illogical mindset when I watch most movies, otherwise I wouldn't ever be able to enjoy them. And sometimes, I still end up just laughing at the stupidity of the whole thing (every Tom Cruise secret agent movie ever comes to mind).

I was pretty excited about this movie for a short period, then the reviews killed it. Then I realized "Well wait a minute. Critics bashed Battleship and the 2009 G.I. Joe movie, yet I loved both of them". I'm probably gonna watch it when it comes out on DVD, just to make sure. I learn that listening to critics has nearly prevented me from watching movies I loved or liked :P.

Besides, I like a good action movie. I don't really care about acting for the most part, as long as it's action is awesome and stuff like that, I'm gonna like it. But then again, you never know....

Hahaha. My problem is I just don't like turning off logic for a while. It's kind of like how my family did not get home from a Ghost Tour they were taking until about 12:30 am. I hear the dogs barking outside go down stairs and my parents ask "how did you know we were home" My answer was " I let the dogs inside an hour ago, and I heard them barking...Logic did not take a holiday while I was sleeping." So in essence I don't stop thinking logically...Ever, even in my sleep. And i know you weren't arguing. And I hope I didn't put it across that way either.

Setting aside the fact that I have not seen this movie and never will...

North Korea. Attacking the U.S. And getting their asses kicked by football players and cheerleaders.

Seriously?

If any Asian country attacks us it's going to be China, and they'd have to be crazy. We're their biggest trading partner. We have many common interests. And finally, we'd beat them and use the "war crimes" excuse to wipe out the zillions of dollars we owe them.

WooooooHoooooooo! Another BattleShip fan! That has to be the best movie ever in my opinion. And I also want to go into the Navy to pilot the US Navy Hovercraft. I want to because 1: my dad was in the navy, and now works for a company that supplies the Turbine Gas Engines for the Hovercraft. number 2: Whats not awesome about a hovercraft?

Damn Straight! Their entire economy is based on the USA buying CHINESE goods. If the attack us or if we pay all are debt to them...We would be sunk and they would be right behind us. Because we would stop buying their products. But if they were crazy enough to attack us...We would be screwed. They out number us like 7 to 1. Owch.
