I recently played Year of the Drago, I never 100%'d it so I started a new game, and I completed the first two worlds... I'm on my way to the third one now...

 

I forgot how cute and well designed this game is.

 

I need to play the previous two on an emulator...

Yeah, you really should play the first two! In my opinion, Ripto's Rage/Gateway to Glimmer (Spyro 2) was the best Spyro game ever made.

@@Vengeance, Yeah, I hear that a lot, but I only had Year of the Dragon when I was a kid (actually, it's not mine, I borrowed it from a friend, and he never asked me to give it back xD)

If I remember well, there was a demo of the first one on Crash Bandicoot 3 : Warped, so I played only the demo lol

I just 100%'d (120%, actually) the first game !

 

Wasn't too hard, I found the game is relatively easy.

Awesome I loved Tree Tops, but it was SO hard to get all the gems from every little place...

Actually, it is kind of ironic that in Spyro you can get 120% completion, as if it is adding the 20% cooler...

 

I did like how they had rewarding bonus levels in each game.

Well I found the bonus level in Spyro 1 kind of fun, but it's nothing special. You just collect tons of gems

I was confused when I entered the level, not knowing what to do, until I realized you can actually fly in this level lol.

Yeah, that's your "reward" for completing the game 100%, now you get to collect lots and lots of gems and be 20% cooler than before.

I have maxed out all of the games when I was a kid. But my favorite game in the entire series is Year of The Dragon. Many people love Riptos Rage, but I just found year of the dragon more memorable and I liked the villin better. Don't get me wrong I love the whole PS1 trilogy

Ive played the first 3, enter the dragon fly, a heroes tail, the legend of spyro series and the other little spin off games they made of him. LOOOOVE SPYRO. Not tryna start anything about the whole VS. game thing, but I never liked Skylanders and that's where it ends. Anyways, The games were all good. The classics were awesome too. I loved the first one A LOT! It was all adorable and he was so young and it was just them one easy, adorable games

 

What I disliked about Spyro was them Flight games...the ones where it was timed and you had to collect them things before time ran out, them thieves, some of the mini games to earn..like an egg, gem, or whatever the goal of the classics were, Like some of the mini games were HARD. The first spyro didn't have them mini games, it was catch a thief for an egg or find dragons. And some of the bosses were a pain in my rear, but other wise, I LOVE SPYRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, speedways... So challenging yet very fun at the same time. It's things like those speedways and the egg theives that make Spyro, Spyro.

I didn't like speedways in Spyro 1, because they were quite hard, but in Spyro 3 they were really fun, especially thanks to the races and the turbos ^.^

Im kind of a sproy fan, loved the orginal psx games back in 97, PS3 version was awesome, the epic ending on the Legend of Spyro rocked. you can never have to many purpul dragons.

 

From 3" to 28" tall and ever thing inbetween including a Pillow.

I think that now sky landers is here spyro isn't gonna be popular to kids these days:( I used to play year of the dragon all the time. I never finished it though cause i had it on ps2 and u need a ps1 memory card for it to save ps1 games.....

My PS2 cards always saved my PS1 games. In fact I still have all of my PS1 and PS2 cards with those save states.

 

I hear you can get the first games on the PSNetwork for the Playstation 3.

My PS2 cards weren't able to save PS1 games... My PS2 also wasn't able to play PS1 games without moving the console up and down at the very first loading screen, otherwise the screen stayed black with no sound. There was one way to find out if I moved the console correctly. While there it the effective sony computer entertainment intro with the cubes around, there is the effective sound with it. And if the sound fades out very early (you won't hear about one half of the sound), it loaded the PS1 game correctly. naughty console

I'm so glad I found this topic, I LOVE Spyro! I own 1 - 5, but don't really like 4 & 5 because they're just not like the 'old' Spyro.

Spyro 1 was the first game I got when I was little, I played it every day. First, I was unable to beat the game because for some reason my game always froze when I entered Stone Hill. Man, that really pissed me off. Also, it took me quite a long time to finish the Doctor Shemp level because I was afraid of that guy.

So many good memories... I could talk about Spyro all day. The music, the gameplay, it's just awesome!

Actually, I want to play it right now after reading this topic.

I hope Spyro finds redemption some day (nothing against Skylanders, but it seemed like they only used spyro to promote the game). I would really love to see TLoS 4, but I know that is not going to happen, and insomniac is done with spyro. How awesome would it be if Naughty Dog bought both spyro and crash. That would be awesome. But I know that's not going to happen either. Dammit, activision please do something with crash, dont let him die. And also, please give spyro more gametime! PLEASE!!!!
