Mind Uploading and Ponies

Has anyone else on here heard of mind uploading. It's where your mind gets uploaded onto a computer and you can do all sorts of cool stuff like fly around in space or live in a virtual world. (Google mind uploading if you want to learn more). Now I was thinking about this and I realized that if this were to be possible in the future you could live in an exact copy of Equestria! You might be thinking that I've seen one to many episodes of My Little Pony, but I think it would be awesome to become friends with the Mane 6 and go on all sorts of adventures. What would you do if you had this opportunity, would you take it?

Screw virtual copies. I want the real deal. Even if there are practically no differences. The real thing is always better. Why the real deal? Because no animation errors, no character inconsistencies, no removed Ditzy, plus we would not be limited to what we already have in the show, and expand our own knowledge from the characters themselves, as I assume that if there's a  limit of what can happen in the virtual copy (for example, I would ask about Discord's past. If, in the show, Discord's past had not been explained, then the virtual reality wouldn't explain it either).

All of the above is written under the assumptions that the virtual reality takes the episodes as its base.

If mind uploading would be possible, I don't see why inter-dimensional travel would not be possible. After all, both are impossible. As of yet.

Ah! But everything is possible!

The problem is, that finding a dimension with ponies would be, well... Somewhat a little bit more dificult, don't you think?

I don't think that if you ever dreamed of being in equestria you sayd. Screw this! I don't want to dream equestria! I want the real deal!

I understand what you're trying to say, and i would aswell like the real deal more... The problem would be, what is the real deal? Where is it? and so on...

I get what you're coming from. But mind that I sometime practice the dark and evil art of Lucid Dreaming, which is basically staying "mentally aware of the fact that you're dreaming at the very moment". So far, every fantasy I had in my dreams had been pretty underwhelming, and always left me feeling like I did not experience the true potential of the real thing.

Not as in "oh man, I could do so many things!", but more as in "well, okay. That sucked."

...actually, on second thought, I think I just sucked at the thing, and that's why my dreams were so lacklustre.

But hey, this is a thread about what-if's and science fiction. Sorry for getting such a aggressive start at it... :P

This seems like a very complicated system but the result would be very euphoric. I would enjoy this very much but as soon as I was done, I would have a very intense sadness come over me when I get released from paradise.

The mind of the host will desperately try to create memories where none exist. Simple right?

How would you even know that it works it could hust create a digital copy of your conciousness while you are stuck in reality

I would probably be really nervous at first, but after a while I might actually get used to it, it seems like a pretty awesome concept in which one could live their wildest fantasies :3

Mind Uploading is possible and according to Ray Kurzweil (a leading scientist in computer science and the future of technology) will be possible by around 2040. And I think that the computer would take information for the source material (the show) and create a world from that. You would still be able to interact with the chaaracters and ask them questions or anything like you normally would do with a real person in reality. It would be exactly like you were actually there.

Ooh, I once read a science-fiction story that was very similar to this. In it, senior citizens, who don't have a lot of time left to live, volunteer to have their minds uploaded into artificially-created life-forms that could survive the hostile conditions of Jupiter. They end up not wanting to go back to their decrepit bodies, and opt to permanently stay as Jovians to colonize the planet.

If something like that were to ever happen in real life, I'd be all for it. If I get to wander around Equestria, so much the better.

"The wisest people are always smiling. This is because they've realized that life is one big joke, and they've figured out the punchline."

"When you've decided to do something, either do it with style, or don't do it at all."

"Every atom in our bodies was forged within the fiery heart of a dying star. We are all connected to each other and the universe."

"Before I was born, I was dead for billions of years and it hasn't inconvenienced me one bit."

I don't think there would be a central Administrator that would be able to control the computer that you are in and dictate what happens in it.

Then who would be in charge in the maintenance of the server in the physical world? Pretty sure you can't simply leave the server and the electricity running and hope it will goes on until the end of time

I guess I'm not exactly sure how the whole mind uploading thing would work or who would make sure everything is up and running. However, I still believe you could live in any virtual world from the Star Wars Universe to Equestria.
