What do you count as a "brony"?

I'm asking this question because the meaning of "brony" really fascinates me. While I'm a massive fan of the series, chat on forums and consider buying a T-shirt of the show, I could definitely call myself a brony - however, my brother who's only watched six episodes, acknowledges that it's a good show but doesn't spend a lot of time with it, would you call him a brony?

 

What I'm trying to say is how much inclusion does someone need in both watching the show and the fandom to consider themselves a brony? Where do you see the line between a brony and a simple watcher?

A brony is a boy who is not obsessed with the show but likes the show to a certain degree where they want to represent the show and spread it around. Some people (mainly the ignorant), think that bronies just become bronies because of sexual pleasures, but that's completely wrong. 

 

There are certain degrees of brony. There's as low as a closet brony to as high as a completely obsessed brony. I'd say I'm in the middle. 

 

So, in order for someone to be a brony, they must like the show and the fandom as well.

to me, a brony is simply a guy who watches the show and likes it, nothing less, nothing more, but of course if you also like the fandom youre still a brony, the minimum is just watching and liking the show

Any male or female (I despise the term 'pegasister') aged 13+ that watches MLP and decides to take part in the fandom. (Not necessarily contributing, just acknowledges him/herself as part of the fandom)

 

And considering the fact that I don't really have a good way to say why watching the show in itself doesn't make you a brony, I'm just gonna leave this video here:

Anyone, guy or girl, that likes the show, and watches it, is a brony. Unless they are in the targeted age, and demographic. Cause thats normal. (According to society) Like has been said before, there are different types of bronies. From closet bronies, to completely obsessed bronies.

A brony is objectively no more than a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, no matter the gender, age, lifestyle, location, etc. If you like the show, then regardless of what you like to call yourself, regardless of how much work you display in the community, you're a brony. The community in itself is a welcomed bonus.

Yes, he is a brony, too. He doesn't religiously watch the show, but he's a fan, nonetheless. Therefore, that makes him a brony.

I would classify a brony as simply someone who is older than the "target age" male or female who is a fan of the show, some are just casual watchers and some go the full nine and have merch up the yin yang while I am somewhere in the middle. I have read quite a few fan fics and see quite a bit of fan art and have started writing fanfics myself but the only pony merch I have or will have once I get it in the mail is the season 1 MLP DVD and a Discord shirt.

It's actually really simple: Someone who likes the show. Doesn't have to be male, but everyone already knows that the majority of the fanbase is male. (85 percent.)

A brony is anyone who enjoys watching the show. There is really nothing else to bring a brony. Age, ethnicity, or gender are not defining factor to whether or not you can be a brony.

I think its pretty simple. If the person considers themself a brony than they are a brony, Even if they have watched only a few episodes.

If they just like the show but don't really care for the fandom than they are not a brony, They're just someone who enjoys the show.

Like the show and/or like the fandom? Great.

Wanna call yourself a "brony"? Have at it, hoss.

Don't like that term? Call yourself something else then. (Fan, pegasister, etc.)

So, pretty much anyone who is a fan, who is not a little girl.

 

This is an all-encompassing term, meaning it includes everyone outside the demographic, male or female.

First of all, I like to think of bronies as a gender-neutral term. I think you can be included as a brony, whether female or male. I see no need to separate between bronies or pegasisters or whatever you wanna call them.

 

To me, a brony is just someone who considers themself a brony. It doesn't matter how much of the show they've watched, how many t-shirts they have, how open about it they are, or even their age or gender, anyone can be a brony, but only if they wish to be considered one.
