Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!

Seems to be a lot of Christian bronies here :D

What denomination of Christianity do you guys belong to? I am a Unitarian.

I don't really consider myself as "belonging" to any denomination. I presently attend a Reformed Presbyterian church, even though I attended a Charismatic church for most of my life. Far as I can tell, we're all just Christians, long as we believe Christ was who He said He was!

I didn't mean it in a "Let's divide ourselves up" kind of way! I apologise, I'm quite tired and my wording was bad. I'm just genuinely curious as to which denominations people belong to and which doctrines they follow or don't follow or what type of church they attend :) I like learning more about religion, my own and others, when possible.

Over in the UK, I've never really known or experienced Presbyterianism. I'd love if you could tell me a bit about it (:

I'm non-denominational. We believe in the individual's personal interpretation of the Bible; mavericks to put it another way. But any denomination or any train of thought that brings people closer to Christ is okay with me.

Well, I'm fairly new to the Reformed Presbyterian Church, but one of the big things I've noticed is that they hold to the Regulative Principle of worship rather than the Normative Principle—i.e., they believe that only what Scripture expressly prescribes is acceptable worship, rather than that anything not expressly forbidden is acceptable. This usually boils down to exclusive Psalmody, or only singing Psalms in corporate worship. They also don't believe that musical instruments are to be used in worship.

Considering I came from Charismatic, where there's a worship band and people jump up and down and dance and scream and shout in worship, it's a bit of a change. I'm not sure I agree with the necessity of exclusive Psalmody, but at the same time, I do see the value of singing Psalms.

Reformed Presbyterian theology also seems to hold to the idea of predestination. I'm also not sure where I stand on that issue.

They also believe in infant baptism, at least for those born into Christian families. Obviously, if someone isn't raised as a Christian but comes to Christ later on, they'd be baptized when they came to Christ, not as an infant. But the reasoning is that they believe baptism to be a sign of the new covenant just as circumcision was a sign of the old covenant. Baptism doesn't guarantee salvation, just as even circumcised Israelites could be cast out of the nation for one reason or another.

Reformed theology also asserts the absolute sufficiency of Scripture. This leads to the belief that God no longer speaks directly to His people, but He speaks through Scripture. So according to Reformed theology, there's no more prophecy or direct revelation from God, and speaking in tongues no longer happens, either. The sufficiency of Scripture is also further support of the Regulative Principle of Worship.

There's a whole lot more to it than that, I'm sure, but I don't know it all. I do understand that they hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith, but I don't know what all that entails.

I used to be baptist, but now I guess I don't have a specific denomination anymore. I didn't learn about branches of Christianity til I was 10, and I always went to a baptist church with my Grandma whenever I visited her. I don't go to church otherwise for some reason.

Yo! I'm Shenron00, but you can call me “Shen” if you want!

Thanks to WheatleyCore for the sig! BTW, yes, I do realize that's Carnage and not Shenron.

I find it ironic that this thread seems to introduce and have more Christians than the amount I previously thought. On the religions thread on the forum, there is only about a few dozen Christians listed in the poll.

You make an interesting point.  It's hard to say how accurate that perception is without going through this thread in detail and counting up the number of individual contributors.  Still, if your hunch is correct -- and the poll in that other thread under-represents Christian forum members -- it could be a simple mater of "nope, Nope, NOPE" that a lot of people think regarding the entire Debate Pit.

I used to get WAY too involved in the debate pit. I've actually requested (and succeeded in getting) a ban from that part of MLPForums so I cannot even access it.

A lot of it seems to be just atheists bashing Christianity, Christians bashing atheism and everyone bashing Islam.

Well, for starters the church I attend is part of the SBCT ( Southern Baptist Convention of Texas ) although both the Elders, probably most of the members, and myself are very Reformed (e.g. Calvinist ) in our theology. I was raised in a Christian home, converted about 6th or 7th grade ( funny part is I can tell you almost the exact moment I became a brony though; I truly believe God likes to show me his sense of humor ), became a Calvinist around age 20, and felt called to become a missionary at most a year later. I'm currently working on my BA in Biblical Studies and feel called to Southeast Asia.

I know there's a place you walked
Where love falls from the trees
My heart is like a broken cup
I only feel right on my knees.
I spit out like a sewer hole
Yet still receive your kiss
How can I measure up to anyone now
After such a love as this?

The best of luck to you in your studies! I'm getting my MA in Systematics, but I have a profound attraction toward the study of Scripture.

Ehh... i have a hard time defining the word christian. i truly dont believe that the vast majority of people who say they are "christians" are in fact such. Im not saying we should have to make everything about Christ (but we should, actually) im saying that if a persons really been a christian for multiple years, should they begin to resemble Christ, at least a little bit? BC the vast majority of people i know irl and online who say they are "christians" dont act any different than another atheist, or more accurately humanist. Also, those who say the bible is up for "private interpretation" confuse me, much the same way as the people who say "shall not be infringed" is an unclear statement.

There's the rub, isn't it? The term Christian (especially when it first came into usage) would denote a "Follower of Christ", which would imply that such an individual would do their best to emulate Jesus and his teachings (which are only recorded, wether one considers it accurate is another question, in the Bible). But this deserves it's own topic so I'll leave it at that for now.

I'm a Christian. Not a fake 'American' one, but a true follower of Christ. I'm glad I can find some people who share my beliefs, (and my love for ponies) at the same place. I take the WHOLE Bible as absolute truth. The holiness of God, the sinfulness of man, and the Trinitarian view of God. I believe everything in the Bible is God's Word and should be obeyed as such. I'm not a very 'tolerant' person, ESPECIALLY over homosexuality (Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:26–27, 1 Timothy 1:8-11)

This would be a great topic for a debate. (This thread, of course, really isn't the place.) The issue of personal interpretation (that is, how far one might go in personal interpretation) of Scripture fascinates me.

Oh oh oh! Me me me! ^^   Nice to see a good amount of Christian Bronies in the forums. ^^   † <3

Somebody took a poll on a different forum thread. About 25% of the users are Christian. That's not bad.

I suppose you could say that i'm Christian in practice, however I believe that a single divine bieng has simply showed himself to different people in different ways they'd better understand. Even in polytheistic religions, as whats to say that the different gods aren't just different aspects of himself such as Jesus or the Holy Spirit in the Christian religion? Anywho, I'm not gonna explain my entire beliefs to you :P just saying that i suppose you could say I'm kinda Christian

I'm a Christian and proud! *raises hoof*

I like this fandom a lot because it supports the idea of loving and tolerating, just like Christianity. I hope you guys don't judge me for this, because some Christians act like they are holier than thou and such. I hope you guys know im not like that and don't mind. ^_^
