Fluttershutter 3,355 May 24, 2021 Share May 24, 2021 In answer to the first post: I usually only read the first post. Unless there are only a couple and they're short.

Prospekt 11,037 May 26, 2021 Share May 26, 2021 I've been in a bunch of forums and this applies to any of them. I only read the entire thread if it is a page or two long. Otherwise, I read the first couple of posts and then skip forward to the end. Or, if it's a long, ongoing thread that I've participated in before, I just skim through whatever has been discussed since my last post (unless I have to read through a bunch of pages, in which case I just say forget it and skip to the most recent one or any posts I've been quoted/mentioned in). Luna the Great of all the Russias 3,219 May 27, 2021 Share May 27, 2021 (edited) If a thread has extended discussions, then I am more inclined to read the entire thread. I usually do not fully read threads like this: threads where users tend to leave one post responding to the OP but not talking to other users who have also posted their thoughts. Longhaul 9,852 July 9 Share July 9 I'll read the first post, then the posts on the most recent page just to see where the conversation is going, but I mostly don't have a lot of time to read the entire thread. Especially if the thread is hundreds of pages long. 1 Signature wanted -- inquire within
Raskolnikov 1,751 July 9 Share July 9 Not anymore, I used to but these days I just read the first thread and maybe the last couple pages to know what was last discussed. Unless the thread is super interesting of course - but especially in the Off Topic section, I'm more inclined to read recent posts because it's from people still active and seeing how people talk and interact informs how I can approach them on a social level in more casual threads. :p 2 "None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free." Iforgotmybrain 7,826 July 11 Share July 11 I read posts up until the July 2023 mark, any older than that I’m probably not going to know any of the users posting, or if I do it was so long ago they’ve likely posted in the thread again.

Night Sky 1,174 July 15 Share July 15 While it depends upon the nature of the original post, generally not. Especially if it's a thread that's more or less asking for everyone's answer to a question. If it's more of a discussion about a nuanced point, then I will peruse. But I do not spend long amounts of time scrolling through page after page of years old replies to long standing megathreads. I do keep track of what my friends are saying though, if like this place the forum allows me to follow their comings and goings. That is one thing I keep tabs on. 1 FRIENDSHIP FINDS A WAY
