What is the Superior Species?

Part of me worries I already know the overwhelming answer to the post, but I have wondered about this for a while. Often times we discuss who is our favorite of the Mane 6 or our favorite CMC, but I wonder what is your favorite species of the mane three? Earth Pony, Unicorns or the Pegasus?  and what are your reasons for thinking this?

 

I personally feel that the Pegasi reign supreme over the races of Equestria, though they are the least populated, they have the greatest impact on the world and the greatest power. What does everypony think?

I believe the Unicorns have the biggest advantage over the other races simply because of magic. For example Twilight Sparkle can't fly since she's a Unicorn but her magic is getting stronger and stronger.

 

How many coins do you want to bet one day she'll be powerful enough to engulf her body with a magic aura and fly faster then Rainbow Dash?

 

• You need to fly? Magic can help
• You need to teleport? Magic has your back.
• You need to hold your breath under water for long amounts of time? Magic can help.
• You lack hands so lifting things is a challenge? Magic can help.

The list can go on and on.

 

I like all the species of pony in Equestria but the Unicorns are at a higher advantage.

Though two alicorns do it now, it was shown in the past that it was the unicorn's jobs to raise the sun and moon. Note that, without the sun and moon, weather won't have as much an impact on the planet. Rain to water plants? Won't matter if the sun isn't up to provide photosynthesis. Furthermore, unicorns use magic to manipulate the world around them, and -could- manipulate the weather if need be. I have to say it's unicorns. Pegasi have built-in magic so that they can walk on clouds, and they can manipulate weather without magic, but really, in the world of ponies, magic is everywhere and in everything, and by having the ability to control magic, you can pretty much do anything.

 

Not all unicorns have the ability to manipulate weather or move the sun and moon, but if we're only looking at this at a species VS species basis, then capacity for what they can do is what matters. So, yeah, unicorns. Obviously all three are important, though. Earth ponies grow food better than the other two as they have magical connections with the earth, pegasi are basically everything to do with the sky, but in a 'wild card' sense, unicorns dominate.

Note that that's not my favorite species, that's my 'they're at the top' species. Pegasi are my favorite species.

Draconequui are the most powerful species. Just look at Discord, he turned everything upside down in no time. He is pretty powerful, more than any pony species, but he isn't the brightest. He's also probably color blind, not seeing the mane six aren't grey anymore. Lol

 

But for ponies, probably unicorns. Specially the ones like Twilight, which can learn a lot of magic crap.

Fair enough, but I really think that is because of a lack of continuity in regards to the power of unicorn magic, we have situations where unicorns can barely levitate things, and other times they are controlling gravity and space. Where the Pegasus have been shown a pretty consistent power levels, though I think history wise, the Pegasus are the most important serving as a military masters of the land.

The unicorns are my favs. They're intellectual snobs... and I like intellectual snobs, lol. More than that though in my head canon the unicorns are responsible for creating most of Equestria's technology, which is primarily magic based, and they mine the gems in the mountains to use in their arcane machines... and that makes them really cool IMO. If its turns out to be true, that most of Equstria's technology was made at the hooves of the unicorns, then yeah I'd say thats a pretty big advantage they have over the other races, which is to say nothing of their magic.

There's no proof that Discord isn't the only one of his kind, though. Being a spirit of a fundamental law of nature, it's fully possible that 'Draconequus' isn't a species of creatures at all, but just a description for what Discord is; chaos (represented by a creature made up of numerous animals). I'm afraid without any evidence of there being more Draconequui than just Discord, it doesn't really count.

 

Besides, if we're talking closest to gods/most powerful, the obvious answer is alicorns, as they can do everything the three pony species can do. This is strictly between earth, pegasus and unicorn ^^

Every skill and ability takes time and effort. Twilight was a little weakling when the MLP series started. By the end of the show she'll be powerful. If the series kept going on forever we'd eventially see a version of Twilight where she's an elder magic user and her magic would be so powerful she could probably blow up sides of mountains and throw buildings at ponies if she needed to.

 

After all, Celestia is her master. Anyone who works by Celestia's side is someone to fear or to be in awe of in the future.

Specifically Flim and Flam's cider machine which doubled as a means of transit and was also powered by magic. And I've seen earth ponies 'using' technology, but only with Flim and Flam is it implied who actually built it (they did, and they're unicorns).

i admit, I am making assumptions here, but was when was the last time you saw a unicorn participating in athletics events (other than Twilight, who was basically there less for racing and more for culture)?

 

As for pegasi... Well you've got me there. They apparently do train up for none wing-based events since Rainbow vould easily keep up with AJ in Fall Weather Friends.

 

I don't dislike either, in fact I wouldn't mind to have freedom of flight or the ability to change reality at will. I find that if you had those talents you would use them is all, whereas Earth Ponies don't have the option to make things easier for themselves.

I suppose you're right of course; it takes equal effort to achieve with wings what it does with legs, and if not more so with magic as it takes hours of study. I like to root for the underdog though, and my favourite ponies are indeed earth ponies. I can't put my finger on why I like them really, I think it's because they're just... normal, I suppose.

The Unicorns have the best advantages but they're not necessarily the "superior" species, none is really. But Unicorns are able to do most out of the other species.

Unicorns without a doubt, sure they can't fly but though it is difficult to perform there is a spell to allow temporary flight as we saw in one episode. They don't have the strength of earth ponies but with magic it dosen't even matter.

Well, as far as "superiority" goes, I'd say there's no doubt it's Unicorn.

If they learn to control magic well enough, they can pretty much "emulate" the characteristics of both pegasus and earth ponies, and do much more.

You want to fly? Magic. Need physical power? Magic. Need to reverse gravity? Magic. Need a gun? Magic. Need to be young again? Magic. Need to make food? Magic. ... And that goes on and on.

 

As to what my favorite type is, I don't have one.

Earth pony segregation! Which does exist since EPs can't really get into Cloudsdale without assistance. 

 

No earth ponies allowed bathrooms/restaurants/water fountains.

 

Unicorn or Pegasi parents not allowing their children (if they're not already EPs) to date EPs in fear of disrupting the genetic code.

 

Being a EP would be looked at as a birth defect, and Unicorns/Pegasi would hide their EP children from the world, or put them up for adoption.   

 

I'm thinking too hard.
