So, Cracked just angered a chunk of the fandom...

It's just that...

You saying, "get a sense of humor," implies that the article is funny. It's not.

Like, at all.

It's lumping us all in one cage and telling the masses to laugh at us because we're all weird and crazy like this one dude, just because we share a favorite show with him. The reality is not that we're all weird and interesting like that fellow who wrote that weird-ass food fic, but we can get along with him because we're bigger mentally, collectively, than these writers. We don't start a problem because people are different. The only reason we all get along together is because we're all deviated from the norm, together.

It's wrong and it's stupid. It's not funny. More importantly, we're not complaining because they're making fun of us. We're complaining because a website that is usually of the utmost quality posted an article just to continue to circulate amazingly intense stereotypes, and the TWO writers who did it are complete assholes that don't deserve to wear the Cracked badge.

It's just disgraceful. I'm surprised you can't realize at least that. It's just completely disgraceful, and there's no other word for it.

Edit: And honestly, there is nothing inherently wrong with being anti-brony. If you were anti-brony, I would urge you to share the details with me, nice and slow, and I'd love to have a discussion. But this isn't discussion material. This is a major website using their already massive influence to slam a fandom that has no quarrel with them.

I haven't been this peeved about anti-brony propaganda since Fox News. (See what I did there? Propaganda? Fox News? So clever, man.)

I'm not saying it's not wrong of them, I'm saying we shouldn't react with complaining and emails to editors...I'm not saying the page itself is humorous, I'm saying we should have a thick-enough skin by now to brush these things off. the whiny contingent has gotten the fandom nothing but shit and reacting the same way isn't going to fix anything.

Obviously it's just baseless assertions and generalizations, but it's a humor site, do you expect a team of comedy scientists to research every facet of the fandom and make quaint little jabs at it? Sure these writers are asses, but judging by the comments section underneath the page itself, very few are saying it's based in reality.

In the long run it's not going to hurt us, people who like ponies will still like ponies, and vice-versa...

Another one of these?  Oh man, I can't tell you how little I care that someone outside the fandom has gone out of their way to bash the fandom.  Like, seriously, these turn up because we're a flavor for the time being and a fandom that is seen as outside the norm.  The uninhibited loud shouting in response does very little in the way of helping to prove the article wrong.

These things happen.  To every fandom.  Look at what the Harry Potter fandom went through with crazy religious people saying the books promoted witchcraft.  It happens.  Just move on, down vote, or voice your opinion in a calm fashion.  There's no reason to get all bent out of shape.  Haters are out there and hating on the popular thing is just what they do.

In closing,

To all of those syaing it's just comedy or you don't get what's hateful, they say we were  "confusing individuality with "being a sociopath."".

I found that part kind of ironic, though I know it was in jest. The people with a bully sense of humor (spew insults at people, doesn't matter what as long as it's angry and/or degrading) making a joke about adults watching cartoons and getting too into them having a personality disorder marked by, among other things, being destructive, lacking an appropriate sense of guilt, and having a warped sense of right and wrong. It's like they just picked the first derogatory term that came to mind without even thinking about how it could be applied realistically or comedically.

I hate that brand of humor whether it's ponies or weathermen. It's no-talent, repetitive, relies on the "ha! losers!" factor, and the kind of people who are partial to it are the ones I see stirring shit just to stir shit because making people feel bad about everything from their weight to their orientation on everything from Facebook to YouTube is enjoyable to them.

It's not the article itself, it's the nature of it - I normally like a laugh at my own fandoms. I don't care if it's stated that the communities in one are the largest gathering of 40-year-old men and 14-year old girls outside of a Chris Hansen sting. It's hilarious and totally true.

Huh?

Someone made an article that duplicates us incorrectly?

It attacks us?

*reads it*

Ah, I've seen better stuff.

Seriously though I'm not offended because

A) it's wrong

B ) it's wrong

C ) it's wrong

We've been attacked on several occasion, but we need to not freak out. Violence an the answer.

If we stay calm and civil we may be able to change some view twords us.

We must not let this affect us.

I thought the article was relatively harmless. I mean, c'mon. This is Cracked we're talking about here. They're like South Park - they make fun of everything.

But it's usually funny, darn it! I feel so betrayed that this article was both a straightforward attack and not even remotely funny.

It was a meh article...I mean every fandom has it's darker side, it's like this guy just got the internet last week and everything is blowing his mind. Even the stuff he pointed out isn't that far out considering some of the really disturbing stuff out there. O_O The article was weak sauce. Not to mention it looked like the comments were filled with people punching holes through his arguments so I don't even think we need to fight any kind of battle over this. Internet is doing it for us. Ignore the man and let him get on with his life, in a year or two he'll have come to understand the internet has dark sides to it and all he did with that article was glance at a shade of off white.

maybe our community should lighten up and not care anymore? Cracked makes fun of everything and everyone, and this time they mocked the part of the fandom that most of us hate to begin with, so whats the problem?

same story everytime. same 2% getting 90% of the attention and bringing 100% of the problems to the doorsteps of the innocent ponies. you guys did nothing wrong, so dont feel offended over that article.

Just another article that talks about 1% of fan activity and acts as though everybody apart of the fandom does it.

That'll be my first and last time visiting cracked.com

Really, having read it, I don't think there is any need to react to this at all. It's Cracked.com, they make fun of anything and everything. Why should the brony community be excempt? And in fact, this offering is so lame that I find it strange that anyone should be offended by it at all. The same old clichés we always get and only 4 examples of insane fanart? Hell, give me 2 minutes on the Internet and I could probably add another hundred to their list. I think bronies are a little too sensitive to such things.

Using the most extreme examples of a given group to make generalizations on the whole? A totally original and unprecedented tactic, I'm sure. How dare they?

And speaking of generalizing, isn't this topic itself a generalization? The OP presumes to speak for the fandom itself, and there are many posts on here that disprove that presumption off the bat. He didn't add the almighty "some of” clause either. The title should be "So Cracked just angered me and I'm guessing some other fans, too".

I've been thinking.

Cracked actually has some funny and awesome articles, and even some awesome and heartwarming life advice articles, so it makes it that much more maddening that something like this got through.

I'm not mad at this, but maybe because I've seen some "good" (and I use that term incredibly loosely) attempts to troll this fandom so here it just falls really short. I could kinda agree with four and three, but chances are if you look hard enough in any fandom (Pokemon and Transformers come to mind) you'll find not only equal works of NSFW but even worse things, so the mere existence of such things is no real surprise these days.

On Fallout Equestria...where did they find that poster image? That's kinda awesome actually! As a fan of Fallout Equestria though, I'm wondering how they make the jump from this fic to mental unhinged individual sharpening a bone saw. Regardless of the material, wouldn't that make anyone who's ever played a Fallout game equally as crazy?

And lastly...why Rainbow Factory? Sure, it's a rather grim/troll story but it's certainly not the worst. What about the infamous among infamous Cupcakes, Rarity's new Dress, Sweet Apple Massacre or even more cringe worthy fics that I refused to repeat here because I have meticulously scrubbed any trace of them from my brain for the sake of my own sanity? Come on, it you're going to make fun of us like everyone else, at least put some effort into it!

Yeah, that's the other thing - it didn't bother me, but it didn't amuse me either, which is atypical of Cracked. Maybe it's because I know of all this stuff already and they're trying to play it off like it's horrifyingly vile, when in actuality there's way worse things to be found on the internet. I mean, really - it's like the article is written by someone who just discovered the internet.

There's worse. Oh, way, waaaay worse >:]

People will never get what they deserve. I admit I go on Cracked everyday and just know which writers' articles to never read. Some of them literally just rant and rant, there isn't even a joke in there and they get a thousand compliments in the comments section. It's unfortunate but I don't know what else to do besides not read those articles. There are other writers who would never say such hateful awful things(I mean hateful, way worse than the Brony quickfix article in question) and I feel they should not allow it just because they don't hold others to their own standards.

Sorry not to pick on you in particular, but people say this about shows like South Park and others all the time. In fact, even Cracked.com has an article about why this isn't a good argument. Doesn't making fun of everyone just make you MORE of a jerk? And there are some lines that shouldn't be crossed, and certain respectfulness that should be upheld. I won't say this article crossed the line but don't blame the offended person for the offense. If someone says something rude about me, I reserve the right to be offended. It's great if you are able not to take it personally and let it slide. I did that with this article, but others, even on my favorite site Cracked, not so much.

Wow.

I would love it if South Park could do an episode on bronies.

That would be the best. Seriously. When these guys make fun of Catholics, I laugh the whole way through. They make fun of things the right way.

I am currently banned from Cracked.

I was tired and annoyed when I posted this

"Oh fantastic! Ripping into a fan base. This is sooooooooo funny and informative.

I didn't expect s**t stirring like this on Cracked. What the hell was this done for? Give the haters more ammo? Piss off the Bronies? Lie about us?

Remove this."

I'll admit that I could have handled it better, but I don't think I deserve a ban.

Hello!

This isn't something to get to freaked out about. We get negative and positive reviews all the time. I'd suggest, paying more attention to the good ones.

Quite simply, this article was a pathetic attempt at attacking bronies, showing a distinct lack of research and a willingness to appeal to the lowest common denominator. As such, I do not find it worthy of the time of any brony. Any response to it at all, let alone a defensive or indignant response, is giving it more credence than it deserves. Be offended if it offends you, but acting on that feeling of offense is, to me, a waste of time. I feel that a brony looking to fight the haters should pick their battles. It's not worth getting oneself into a froth over it.

Wait, you got banned for that?

I see comments written like that almost every time I look in the comment section. Do you just have to get thumbs downed enough or do the staff actually go in, remove your post, and ban you?

I agree that you don't deserve a ban. Unless you have done that sort of thing multiple times. Which I am guessing you haven't.

Is this a permaban or just a temp?
