So, Cracked just angered a chunk of the fandom...

So yeah. The comedy site Cracked posted an article bashing the brony fandom.

http://www.cracked.com/quick-fixes/4-insane-pieces-my-little-pony-fan-art-by-grown-men/

Personally, I might look at it every once in a while to giggle at the shitstorm they've brought down on themselves.

The gist is, a writer posted an article talking about the odd side of the fandom. Now, there wouldn't necessarily be anything wrong about this, but he heavily implies throughout the whole thing that this is the entirety of the fandom.

So, I thought I'd bring this to everypony's attention, for whatever reason. I'm not telling you to go and raid the place or something. That would be immature. However, if you want to read the silly thing out of curiosity, guess you might as well post a comment expressing disapproval of it since you've already given them the page view anyway.

Well here's another "crack" of bullshit we have to deal with. Seriously, this is getting old.

Famous people/tv shows are messing with us for attention and money.

Wonderful.

Couldn't care less about 1,3, and 4 but #2....

THEY WILL PAY FOR WHAT THEY SAID!!!! THEY SHALL REGRET THE DAY THEY MESSED WITH VAULT BOY'S ASSISTANT.

Okay, I might be overreacting here.

And OP, how are we Fallout:Equestria fans the bad side of bronies, might I ask?

Its human nature to lash out at things we don't understand (or agree with) but seriously? The fandom's been going strong for a couple years, I thought haters would have gotten bored by now.

When I said that, I was referring to the porn. I should have been more clear there, sorry.

I was at this in the comments an hour or two ago under the username Harmonic. I am angry about this, but it is a comedy website, don't forget that.

Being a comedy website doesn't excuse what is pretty much a hate-filled attack. Putting a clown wig on something hateful doesn't make it less offensive.

Eh. so what. We get positive and negative press in this fandom, yet another negative thing means nothing to me.

What? We are not, I don't see how loving an extremely well-written grimdark crossover fanfic is the bad side of anything...

Yeah, I read this site everyday, and I'd like to point out that this writer is a newbie, or a one off author. The regular staff would never write something this immature and poorly researched.

I wouldn't be surprised if this one gets pulled off the site before it's all over.

And seriously, if Rainbow factory is the most screwed up Grimdark she could find, she didn't try very hard.

She also made the epic fail of including a entry on someone, who I understand was a crackfic/trollfic writer and isn't even active anymore.

I am offended, but not enough that I'll do anything stupid. We shouldn't overreact. You shouldn't respond to haters for the same reason you don't talk to homeless people shouting nonsense about the end times.

Agreed. I don't even recognize the authors. Eric Axt, Dustin Koski? Never heard of them.

I tend to dislike anything on that site that isn't written by John Cheese, Christina H, Soren Bowie, David Wong, or some of the other top writers on the site. The newbies think that writing for Cracked makes them able to get away with writing anything... and to that I say bleeeeeh...

I wonder if there is a way to complain to the head editor... that would be something.

Eh, what did you expect? I think the reason they write things like this is to piss us all off. Looks like they succeeded. I really don't care that much.

I'm offended, and a little disappointed, but I think the best thing to do is just to shrug it off.  Their ignorance may hurt us, but we can't let it get the best of us.  Just keep calm and pony on, everypony.

lol this cracked article sucks. Usually they have something entertaining but in this case the only two things that actually made me laugh just a ltitle bit were the first two. The bottom two just are actually surprisingly normal and yeah.

This would be the mature thing to do. I'll try to find a way to do so, and I encourage others to do the same. All I have found is a generic "Contact Us", but there is no specific category for complaints as far as I can tell.

I wouldn't mind if most of it wasn't so terribly written. I can laugh at my own fandoms, no problem. I just hope Cracked doesn't become another Encyclopedia Dramatica, where proper satire and real humor and originality are swapped out for the easier game of just calling everyone autistic, virgins, basement-dwellers, etc. The first thing I noticed was the term "sociopath" being thrown out there just because it's edgy and cool.

Whoa look at all those free views that site got from the fandom...

I personally won't give too much thought of it. Cracked.com made fun of almost everything. Edison, Americans, Tesla, JFK assassination, Muslims, Christians, Atheist, Hollywood, even Earth and lava lamp, you name it. Everyone knows not to take anything in that site too seriously, at most Bronies only got some weird glances (nothing new for us anyway), while Cracked.com got a shitload of new readers from the fandom.

The difference is, when other articles have made fun of those things, there were obvious nods to it being done in the name of humor. This article comes across as a hateful attack under the guise of humor, kind of like how certain sites like Encyclopedia Dramatica go all pro-KKK and pro-Nazi and then go "oh wait nvm it's totally a joke guise we're totally not hateful pieces of shit!".

I didn't ask for a raid or anything. In fact, I said so in the OP. I'd rather have people calm-and-collectedly ask for the article to be removed. Sure, "publicity is publicity", but there's a difference between enjoying something and detesting it.

Uh, people? This is what Cracked does, lol. It's a comedy website. Anything and everything that comes out of it's mouth should never be taken seriously.

I'm not mad about the subject matter of the list(hell, it could've been funny if someone like Seanbaby wrote it) I'm complaining about the fact the tone is really just immature complaining, and insults and that it's full of research errors.

Clearly you do not read anything written by John Cheese or David Wong.

It is a comedy website, yes, but it is the kind of comedy website that, in their best of articles, contains truth and writes that truth in a way that is hilarious. Or at least chuckle-worthy. But strangely enough, I also find that their best articles are extremely informative. The one recently written about the Middle Ages? The one about what people don't tell you in history class about the founding of America? The one about the religious symbols that don't mean what you think they mean? Those articles are awesome.

This article just contains, "herp derp let's make fun of bronies because they're fucked up!" That's not informative, and that's not funny.

And yet I don't care, I mean this isn't the first time a site/person made remarks about bronies that were untrue. I mean just give it time it'll go away.  By all means just ignore it.

Damn. That piece of an article got like 7,000 views since the last time I clicked OP's link

Really? Terribly sorry if I missed it, but I don't really get which part of the article that is hateful attack. :o

Cracked's style of humor is very different from ED's, and much more better than that. There will always be a bad part of everything, and the article simply made fun of ours. No matter how bronies often claim that the show is very well-made and watch-able for adults, we can't dismiss the fact that show was originally meant for little girls, and of course any kind of fanmade materials that is above PG 13 would be seen as damn freaking weird by anyone outside the fan community. The article didn't really attack the entirety of the fandom, it just pointed out some of the weirdest shit we have buried under our midst. (well, maybe only the 1st sentence, but it's not even that severe.)

I rather doubt they will remove the article for anything though.
