I've always downloaded, god bless nopponsei, the soundtracks of any anime I've completed. Only recently have i started listening to them again though, plus all the awesome opening and ending songs even if most of it was Naruto related which used to be good but somewhere along the lines it just got kinda boring. I'm thinking about getting back into it though, reminiscing about all the good old episodes has given me new hope.

Okay so I gotta say I love anime dances, I love fluid animations in general, and I love this song and video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2q0VrxfT6c

But seriously, there needs to be more dancing animations. I've have literally seen all of these animations used over and over and over and over and overandoverandoverandoverandSHUTUPDISCORDIAN. My point is, there needs to be more because as much as I love videos like this I'm tired of seeing One Piece, Yogurting, Lucky Star and Haruhi dance animations every time I click on these videos.

Anime dances are fun! :D

Just finished "Voices From a Distant Star". It's a 25 minute long film about a girl and a boy who are separated after the girl is drafted to serve in a war against aliens. She gets stuck out in deep space and the farther she and the armada go the longer it takes for her messages to reach the boy, who waits patiently back on Earth. The ending was pretty open but it is implied that the guy and the girl meet up halfway through the solar system so eh, I'll take it. It wasn't "HEART-WRENCHINGLY SAD" like all the reviews said. The animation was awesome, so there's a plus.

Anime dance can make for a good idea!

I wish some anime would do something with freaking kabuki!   They

have a lot of dance and art!  Gaaahh anime why do not give into my rants!

Anime of this Week: Shinsekai Yori

"The story is set in Japan a millennium from now. Five children—the
protagonist Saki, Satoru, Maria, Mamoru, and Shun—have been born and
raised in a tranquil town that can be described as a utopia, overflowing
with water and green foilage.

After a certain incident, Saki and the others come to realize the true
nature of their world. The five throw themselves into life-threatening
adventure and fighting to protect friends and a world on the brink of
collapse."

One thing i love on this anime that caught my eye was the style and flowing art

that keeps pace in all the eps and in how the story is yes slow in parts but comes in  bangs

when things need to happen.  The other is you get to see them grow up and change as

they story goes along.

Oh man. Shinsekai Yori. To put it bluntly, this anime is just pure japanese aesthetics. I'm a big fan of Japanese culture, history, and the language, and my GOD this anime is just amazing. It follows a lot of the same story flow similar to the classical japanese monogatari' storytelling style by focusing more on the people and their integration with the plot. It somehow merges this into a plot that works amazingly with television airing. Visually it's pleasing, using simplistic approaches and minimalism in a form that just screams Ukiyo-e without being so.... well, caught up with the classic style. Heck. soap bubble was an AMAZING ending! :D

I cannot express how much this anime makes me act like foaming-mouth guy from Avatar.

All anime have a soundtrack, like any entertainment medium, but it's usually FAR less prominent. What's more is I don't think people pay attention to it as much because they are either A) reading subtitles and can't necessarily hear the music while trying to read it (lack of multitasking) or B ) the music is almost entirely for background and doesn't stand out so no one pays attention to it.

I myself only rarely pay attention to a soundtrack and it's usually during anime like Darker Than Black or Baccano which have soundtracks that really compliment the mood of the action.

K-On's actually an anime that focuses mostly on music. While there isn't much in the BGM, there are a lot of songs that are really vital to the plot, since it's about a high school band. The rest of the show mostly focuses on friendship and procrastination, but those parts have some of the most hilarious moments in the anime.

I can't say I've seen a lot of animes, but a brilliant one would be Puella Magi Madoka Magica. It starts off as your typical magical girl anime, with friendships and school and magic, which then gradually evolves into one of the most disturbing animated shows ever.

And most heartbreaking.

Also, the studio that made K-On had their new show, Tamako Market aired just a month ago. It's a hilarious one.

I've been sorta busy lately so I haven't had a chance to check out Read or Die yet. I watch a few episodes tonight hopefully. I will say that I like the concept though.

:/ well this anime doesn't seem to be getting much out of us sadly so might as well add some other questions.

what are you favorite songs in anime? not just the intos but songs that appear during an episode that kind get you pumped

Well I tend to love the darker sounding songs I guess, like

and
from To Aru Majutsu no Index. Or maybe something like
 from Ao no Exorcist and
from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

For fight scenes, I like songs like

 from Bleach and
from Mai-HiME.

Other favorites include: EPTM and Theme for Scanty and Kneesocks (Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt), The Chase (Steamboy), and God Knows (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya).

I have a lot more but I think this post has enough links in it...

Do you mean background music or actual songs? Because while I have heard actual songs in anime, it's fairly rare and usually some kind of musical performance in-show. Beck and K-ON feature a lot of songs, but they're also about characters in a band.

Just thought of another example- the Macross series (probably the third biggest mecha franchise in Japan aside from Gundam and Evangelion) features a whole *lot* of music, and always features a singer as one of the leads, even though it's in the sci-fi war genre a la Gundam.

I loved the FLCL soundtrack

And the Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt soundtrack

Fly Away and I Want You are so catchy

Night On The Galactic Railroad and Cat Soup

Both had weird soundtracks that I kind of like

Has anyone here read the mahou sensei negima manga. Not the anime, the nime is god awful. The manga had a crappy ending but the journey paid off pretty well. It's like DBZ and harry potter had a baby

I have. I didn't finish it but I got a good ways into it, into the

magic kingdom

arc. I absolutely adore Ken Akamatsu's art and writing styles. He proves that he is a master of writing as well as art in that story arc and CAN do more than just the romantic comedy stuff like Love Hina.

I would prepare for the worst. Hate to sound negative. But the ending ruined everything for me. Hopefully it won't ruin anything for you

I have two excellent songs from anime to share. First is "Main Theme Ai" from Higurashi No Naku Ni. It is one of the creepiest tunes you will ever hear from an anime, and it's even more bone-chilling if you've seen the show itself.

Next, is a more light-hearted tune, "Yume No Naku E" from the romance/ comedy anime Kare Kano.

Holy hell I still need to finish watching Higurashi

I've seen the first 4 episodes of it, but I stopped watching it

I should finish it sometime

Though my favorite song from horror anime

Would be Lilium from Elfen Lied

Even though Elfen Lied's not even half as good as Higurashi (Based from what I've seen)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZwsGGkMT5U

And the music box version is nice as well

I highly recommend that you finish Higurashi. In my opinion, it is the greatest anime/ manga/ visual novel ever made. I'm pretty biased, but regardless, it's awesome

As for Lithium, I personally prefer the music box version. I don't know why, but I just like the feel of it. Elfen Lied was a very good anime too.

Well from what I saw out of it, I can't blame you for saying that

And yeah the music box version of Lilium was better

It had a much more softer feel to it, that was just beautiful

And I'm glad to meet another Elfen Lied fan

Since it's really a 50/50 experience

Some like, some hate it

When They Cry has one of the best theme songs ever. Wolf's Rain is another amazing one.

Oh and both Darker Than Black season 1 themes (haven't seen season 2 yet)

Lots of good openings but music IN anime is harder to identify.

Yes. Very true. But one song in anime that I enjoy is Naruto's Theme (from Naruto, of course). I hardly can ever tell any music in anime besides that.

Star Driver

I just watched the first episode, now I'm gonna make one thing clear first.. I am not gonna continue watching this unless people are saying it is really good after this horrible first episode. I'm sorry, but I'm not gonna waste my time watching this kind of anime.

I'm gonna make this quick.

- The characters aren't memorable or peaked my interest at all, plain and boring.. basically your generic anime characters.

- Drawing style is something we've almost all seen before, your standard slender or either bulky male characters and all female characters look 'normal', also weird hair styles and colours.

- The insane story phasing that made no sense whatsoever.

- The intro started at the middle of the episode, WHY?!

Now all of the above are quite obvious but I will explain the story phasing in the spoiler below.

For me.. It went like this:

Guy and girl on the beach having a good mood, suddenly turns serious and weird -->some guy washes ashore --> Girl SMELLS(??) and saves him --> Suddendly in a mansion and casually eats breakfast and instantly act like best friends --> goes to 'school' like nothing happend --> Something dramatic about the father drawing a painting of the washed ashore guy -->  rules of dorm get explained --> INTRO?! --> some "evil" orginisation out of nowhere doing something evil. --> washed ashore guy goes to place he isn't supposed to go and gets caught by OBVIOUS CHARACTERS WE HAVE SEEN BEFORE (Why even bother with the masks) -->

SOD IT!

You've seen what happend and know what I'm talking about it is all crazy and goes way to fast AND WAY TO MUCH stuff happens in one episode and is just unfollowable..

I got so bored while only watching the first episode and the first episode is one of the most important!

Unless anyone gives a good reason I should watch the further episodes, I'm done.

By the way, I apologise that my first turn on this thread is so negative.. But I just cannot stand these kinda animes.  :umad:

and on a side note is anyone here watching some of the newer Anime from this winter season? I only rely watching 3 atm on Crunchyroll

I'm currently following Kotoura-san, I really like it because of the (some) original characters and the drama, setting and story are all quite entertaining.
