Is the dark side of the fandom dying out?

I think that clopping is growing and it might even be mainstream, I've read on the internetz that there are physical comics of pony porn now.The news of clopping dying is probably due to 1 famous clop artist that seemingly stop doing clop for more normal pony stuff.

Really, it doesn't hurt anyone, its just who they are, but they still get hate. Even INSIDE the Brony Fandom, Bronies still hate them, which really defeats the purpose of the our motto: "Love and Tolerate." Yet, Bronies still usually leave out and/or hate Cl*ppers.

I don't think it's dying out, I just think it's kind of distancing itself from the rest of the fandom, or at least the clop community is no longer being used by haters in an attempt to smear bronies as a whole (No disrespect to cloppers intended, I have no issue with it.

I've never been a clopper, but I have friends who are non-Bronies who think that all Bronies are cloppers. It's still a stereotype that we get. But as much as I don't want to say it, I think the clopping side of the fandom is still here.

Yeah this conversation gets real old. To want to exorcise a part of the fandom that some people disagree with is just ridiculous as r34 is just as much a part of what makes this fanbase as amazing as it is.  The artists who do r34 are really talented artists and there's just so many of them and doing so many variations of it. Again if it's not your thing i understand but why even post this then? It's like saying you want all the gays to be not involved in the fanbase because you don't like their take on mlp. There's a lot of reasons to think the brony fanbase is awesome and r34 is just one of the amazing creations that's blossomed from it.

 

PS there's no dying out of "this side" of the fanbase, it's bigger than ever. There was a time when a lot of tumblr's and deviant art accounts were being forceably shut down by people who didn't like it and wanted to troll these own artists for attention. Tumblr's policy is to not allow folalcon (underage) and bestiality (human x pony) and most artists don't do this in the first place or have edited on tumblr, tagged appropriately, or posted elsewhere. Again these are just cartoons and there is no "real porn" even involved here so it's a moot point how upset people want to get as no one is getting hurt by it, these are just drawn fantasies. Even Seth from EQD runs a pony porn blog for fanfiction and art. That's part of how mainstream it is.

 

They key in the last year is people who like the porn I think i trying to not shove it in people's faces and post it everywhere and hopefully the people who don't like it can just avoid the places where it dwells and not talk so badly about people who do like it.

I get your point that you don't want r34 to define bronies to those outside the community but we can't control that either. We'd rather they not make that conclusion either. If they wanna focus on a niche part of the fanbase then they were likely going to anyway. To outsiders it's weird across the board. The media has done this several times already (Cracked, Tosh.0, etc) but we're used to being trolled. Just don't turn on your brothers because WE (cloppers) have more common with you then some troll who doesn't even like MLP.

Too bad r34 artists are generally restricted from producing high quality works due to the markets, I notice that artists generally produce better work when there's no profits involved while their work quality deteriorates real quick if they're selling the product or receive commission for it.

 

I think that people should stop seeing art as r34 or non r34 and just embrace them all as even some artists produce both but tend to produce more low quality r34 due to the profit margin and easy money.

Seriously, considering that so many of us have been targeted for some manner or another of harassment solely due to what we like, you'd think that the people in this fandom wouldn't be so quick to target other people for the same thing.

Some thoughts on the subject from long ago. In 2011 people were fighting about all of this in the community, now we don't. It's called acceptance. 2012 I thought was the year that people finally moving on and learning to tolerate each other a little better about it and be more respectful with those who didn't want to see it.

Good job, you've managed to convert a few people into 'the dark side' and you've gotten someone who was fighting his inner desires and lashing out against those who openly partake in activities which he probably didn't want to do due to 'social norm'.Do send me a PM as well coz I'm morbidly curious as to what you sent them to take them on the next phase of conversion.

I wouldn't call it "dying out" so much as the fan base is polarizing. For instance, some of us do our best to distance ourselves from the unsavory side of the fandom while others are openly embracing it.

 

I happen to fall in the former category. Just total eww...

It's Xenophilia to be a Clopper, due to the fact the Ponies are sapient minded.

 

But even I have some standards when it comes (THEY MUST BE NOT UNDERAGE PERIOD!) when it comes to clop. Yes, I'm a Clopper. But I'm not gonna post porn in places where it's not wanted nor am going to shout it down the street.

 

 

In most cases you'll only find clop if you look for it. And I will say some of the most best fan fictions out there are in fact clopfics such as fan fictions called "Xenophilia" and another called "Her Whole Darn Heart".

 

 

Non clop text from a clopfic called: Xenophilia. It kinda helped me get over the shame of being a Clopper.

So, she’s definitely not an animal, but she’s definitely not a human either. So… it would be xenophilia, right? Am I a xenophile? He hadn’t thought so, but… Wait, I’m looking at this the wrong way. I get along with her better than I’ve ever gotten along with anyone; if she was human, I’d totally be all over her right now. Am I gonna turn her down because of the way she looks? Put that way, hell no. I hate guys who do that. ‘Sides, she is kinda pretty, in her own way.

you all know what I'm talking about......the cloppers. I am tired of being called one just becuse I lvoe the show. These are like sub-furries. How can we tell if they are dying down. Becaue as long as they are around this fandom is going to be plagued with nothing but negatvity. I mean if you are a clopper, cool. Just please keep it to a minimum.

Fun Fact: Believing cloppers are the bad side of the fandom is -your opinion-. It may very well be a popular opinion, especially among haters, but it is little more than -opinion-. Trying to tell people to 'keep it down' isn't going to work, for numerous reasons.

 

In -my- opinion, grimdark is the 'dark (hurr) side of the fandom'. Much of it is pointless, disgusting gore that serves no purpose outside killing characters. I'm looking at you, 'Cupcakes', 'Sweet Apple Massacre', 'Cheerliee's Garden', etc. What makes grimdark stick out so much more to me is that other fandoms do not have the retarded amounts of grimdark that we do. Conversely, other fandoms do have just as much porn and R34 as we do. R34 is in every fandom, so I really, really, really do not see the point in making a big deal about it. People like what they like, and it's completely inevitable, and no, it will never really die down. Haters use it as a reason to hate on the fandom: So what? Welcome to the reality of every fandom. Got the same thing in the Sonic fandom, which I've been apart of for 10 years.

 

It's not going to stop, just as the human race will retain large amounts of stupid, narrow-minded people who choose to hate on things they don't bother to look into, whether we want it to or not. It's a lot healthier to accept it completely, and ignore it.
