Just completed Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Voted one of the scariest games in history? I SEE WHY!

But seriously, amazing story, amazing elements, best horror/puzzle game i've ever played, 5/5. It scares u for a reason, it dosnt just put random screamers in it, in actual fact, there arent any screamers.

But seriously, if you like adventure horror, puzzle, get this game. Can't wait for a sequal.

PS. I really reccomend people to get this game, its not as scary as people say so don't worry, its a awesome game and even if you don't like horror/puzzle games you will still love this one!

I only watched a friend play it and I nearly pissed my pants(then again I am a bit of wuss). In the sewer level, my friend was heading for the door out, but one of the monsters was right in front of it, so she backtracked a little bit and went back in about 5 minutes. The monster was gone, so she went for the door. When she got to the door and was in the process of opening the monster comes out of nowhere and smashes the door shut, missing her by about and inch. She ran away for a bit and somehow managed to get back to the door, open it, and climb the ladder without being driven insane.

I played it. Eh, I kind of felt that the scares were too synthetic. It was fun, sure, and I loved the game but...

Try playing it in the total darkness, alone, with a pair of headphones on. Then talk about scary.

 

I was able to handle it myself up to a certain point until near the end when the encounters start becoming a little more randomized. Never finished it myself, but I watched my friend play it from start to finish.

 

I really would consider amnesia to be a true to the roots horror game, your adrenaline really does start pumping when you think you're getting away and you turn around and BOOM, monster right in your face... game over.

 

And the music, that high pitched grinding music... makes my stomach double over just thinking about it.
