Random threads Box for each area.

I was just throwing out an Idea. Mods, feel free to delete / lock this if it has been brought up.

 

After perusing some of the area Octavia's Hall, I noticed that the majority of topics have few replies, and most become completely forgotten after a small amount of time (Usually).  I then had the idea that a smaller box similar to the recently discussed topics box should be placed into each area. The box would display a small selection of topics at complete random from inside that area. Upon revisiting the page, or refreshing, it would show a new small selection of topics.  The box could be placed under the names of the main areas on the main page, or in the are you go to after clicking on one of the sections.

 

About five topics per box? Also able to be hidden, like the recently discussed box.

 

Again... just throwing this out there. There are many neglected threads that deserve more recognition.

I agree with this idea, though I think it should only randomly choose from the last 20-25 threads created in that section.

why is that? That would defeat the whole purpose almost. All you have to do is click in said area and see the first 25 or so already. I want this implemented so others can see old threads that might interest them.

I think if it includes every thread in the section, then the random box would mostly include old pieces of art/ writing/ etc. that have already had there time in the sun, so to speak, and this would do nothing to lower the number of unread topics in Octavia's Hall. You do bring up an interesting point, which is why I have come up with a new idea.

 

How about the random thread box chooses from amongst the last 120 topics which have had three or fewer replies. This would ensure that the topics which are in need of attention, get the opportunity to be seen by a larger audience.

thats the point. Giving the old threads a new shining. Many users have never seen them.
