Retro*Derpy 3,191 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 Backpack for this guy. They are more comfortable, and since I carry around 75 lbs, like you said, messager bags aren't good for heavier weight.
Agent505 661 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 When I was in school, I only ever used to carry about 5 books and a pen and pencil, but I still used a backpack. It's convenient for other things too, like dumping the contents on my bed and carrying heavy things to relatives houses. I've been watching you, all this time. Standard User 2,127 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 For Christmas, I got the Derpy messenger bag. I love that thing to death; wear it loud and proud to school every day. So now I'm a messenger bag guy. They aren't as comfortable or versatile as a backpack, but...Derpy. oOo RIP Forums Writing Centre ;_; oOo
concertoldham 140 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 Messenger bag yo. I really like mine, and I appreciate how perfectly my laptop and books slide into it. I love how stylish they are and when I carry it I feel like some important kind of person. I do agree that heavier loads are kind of a chore but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. Plus it has these front pockets that are perfect for storing poptarts. Like music? Of course you do! Betez 1,734 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 I always use a backpack. It's just more comfortable for me. I've never actually used a messenger bag, so I don't really know what it's like. Gigachip 148 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 I voted backpack, though I really use both. This semester I normally use my backpack most of the time since I need to carry some school books for class. Though some semesters if the books are available for digital I'll use my messenger bag. I'll just carry my laptop or ipad to class and use it for the day.

Justin 16 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 As a student who takes many high level classes, backpacks are practically essential to me. Every day, I carry around three big notebooks, one novel, one big novel, one workbook, calculators, lunch, water bottle, a study book, and the occasional textbook. It is pretty heavy, it makes me look like a turtle, and it strains my shoulders at the end of the day. But I'd prefer that than having only one shoulder strained from the day - don't wanna be leaning on one side every day. tumblr }{ backloggery
Bruno © 125 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 I use a backpack, because i can put all my books in it, and from what it seem, it would be more painful to carry 10kg in a messenger bag, but i never used one so i can't really tell it. Mightymags 1,053 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 I prefer backpack mostly because I have to carry my laptop around in it so I got a laptop bag backpack thing for it. I used to love messenger bags but it wasn't practical when I had to ride my bike. Now that I drive that's not much of an issue. I also found that the messenger bags tended to really hurt my back if I had more than a few things in it, especially my left shoulder because that's the side I had the strap on. Champion RD92 8,658 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 Backpack for me. I've never in my entire life used a messenger bag before. Backpacks seem easier to carry, and plus they seem more comfortable.
Prismatic 49 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 Usually backpacks for me. As for my laptop there isn't a single once made for a Toughbook. I either use the preinstalled carrying handle or attach a strap if I wish to wear it like a satchel.
Kamil 315 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 I use a messenger bag. I find it more comfortable, don't usually carry that much around (last semester I managed to cram everything from all my classes into a single notebook), and can easily access the contents without taking it off. The only thing I don't like is that it has Velcro, so I feel really awkward opening it if I need something in the middle of class. This space intentionally left blank. VelvetDivan 96 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 It depends on the environment, for me. If I'm going hiking/walking you better believe I'm wearing a backpack. I need my arms free, and there's no way I'm going endure a messenger bag ba-bumping me for more than a few minutes at a time. If I'm at a convention, I prefer the messenger bag, because it's much easier to get in and out of without taking it off. I can pull out sketchbooks, gifts, whatever and never have to set anything on the floor or bend over. It's also a little easier to keep track of it, rather than a bag on your back someone could unzip and fish things out of while you stood there, clueless. Honestly I'd like to find some sort of hybrid solution. Something rather cyberpunk, involving a modular harness system. You're carrying a laptop today? Okay, here's a sleek armored sleeve with a cut-resistant cable that nestles at the small of your back. Carrying some books? Here's a sack that molds to your waist and hip, snugged into place with straps so it doesn't bounce around. Phone, calculator, tablet, sammich? Various soft or hard cases you can fasten to webbing on your pants.
Chuckles4lyfe 441 February 18, 2013 Share February 18, 2013 It's gotta be the backpack for me. The messenger bags with the strap you wrap around your shoulder would seem irritating if you wore it around all day. At least with the backpack, your splitting the weight of the bag across 2 shoulders instead of 1. But i've got to wonder, we see in the show that the ponies carry their things in a backpack-messenger bag hybrid, but I'm not quite sure what you would exactly classify them as? I'm curious what all of you think? #Squadgoals "But that day...The day I discovered racing...I proved that the legends were true. -Nobody- 519 February 19, 2013 Share February 19, 2013 Backpack master race. But seriously. messenger bags just look weird to me and aren't as cool, plus I have an awesome looking backpack. I'm just nobody at all...
Just some guy 1,070 February 19, 2013 Share February 19, 2013 Backpacks. They're just too bloody useful to not have if you need to use one.Lots of space and being easy to carry heavy loads with is a godsend. Though if it's a light load,I prefer a sling bag.Messenger bags are too cumbersome and a regular backpack seems unneccessary.Plus,my current sling bag looks quite stylish. :
Beta 42 February 19, 2013 Share February 19, 2013 I think backpacks are way more practical, but I actually don't use either because I'm no longer in school. What I do carry around all the time now is a purse...and I have yet to find a pony purse that doesn't look super tacky.
Scootalove 10,689 February 19, 2013 Share February 19, 2013 I wear a backpack to school, I have gotten pretty used to it. I will only bring a messenger bag to an airport if it can carry my stuff. Nah 3,182 February 20, 2013 Share February 20, 2013 Messenger bag for me, I just don't like backpacks too much, they get real heavy and I actually contracted back problems from them. :/ Messenger bags can't carry as much as a backpack, so for as long as I won't lose my ability to walk or get arthritis, its the bag. ~Sugar Sprinkles~ 638 February 21, 2013 Share February 21, 2013 A back pack, except I think I use it a lot like a messenger bag O.o I carry it with one strap and thats about it. Its more comfortable for me I guess..
Lost 1,410 February 21, 2013 Share February 21, 2013 I did use a messenger bag at school, then when I started riding a motorbike and attending college I swapped to a backpack. I find that a backpack is more comfortable with a large amount of stuff in it than a messenger bag, and it holds more too, I like messenger bags when I'm not carrying much, but I can't ride with one on.
