visual art Jverne's abstract art!

So, I get bored in school a lot. I also like doodling. Therefore art. Being in school, this is all just pencil in paper. No real intent other than to look cool. Also, sorry for bad picture quality.

This one's only a partial, and that blurry spot on the bottom left is where I signed it, and the blur was an attempt at censorship. You know, safety n' stuff.

This is my most recent and favorite one, done by drawing a bunch of parabolas (sort of) and using the spaces in between that to look like tendrils of some sort. I don't know, it's art. It's not always supposed to make sense.

You know what else I like? Symmetry.

Woah these are really good cubism art! Honestly, I think you could be a successful cubist! All the shapes and shading are very nice!

Thanks! I do hope to keep getting better at this style and eventually showcase some of it. Shading is something I've had some practice on, and I really like it.

I love doing this kind of drawing, I usually fill the squares in a checkerboard pattern when I'm done. I'm a big fan of simple geometric art like this.

Yeah, there are many cool artistic things you can do with geometry. If you really like it, you should check out the YouTube channel Vi Hart. She's a  mathematician and an artist who can do some really cool things with the two subjects. In fact, that picture you quoted was inspired by one of her videos.

So as I understand it. you love to doodle in math class instead of actually learning about maths and whatever your teacher boringly tries to explain to you.

Oh, I don't only draw these in math class. I do start them in math though.

However yes, the spoken words of the teacher are purveyed in a boring way and it is without my attention.

You should draw on printer paper next time, but really that's my only complaint.  The shading is very good.  My favorite is the bottom one.

I probably should. I guess I'll just bring some printer paper to school on Monday. XD

All jokes aside, thanks for the feedback! I'm gonna keep posting on this thread as I continue doodling.

I was just saying that cause it's how ViHart starts all her videos. And ViHart is amazing at making mathematical doodles. She did a video on the overlapping shapes thing.

I was much the same way in highschool, and I always got in trouble. What they didn't seem to understand is I still heard and learned everything they said. Any time they'd try to call me out I'd answer them calmly, making them look a fool.

I really like them by the way. I always liked just starting random stuff and it ending up unusual like this. They all look quite nice.

You have discovered the secret to my art! Yeah, nearly all of this is inspired by her. Great videos they are, a huge inspiration to me.

Drew another one here, I will try to put them on printer paper from now on. (Sorry about notebook paper, very easy to access in class.)

Triangles, not only being my favorite shapes, look really cool when shaded in my opinion. Drawing a bunch and making a black to white gradient starting from one corner sounded cool, so I made it!

  • 4 months later...

Another update! I've taken on more abstract kinda stuff, using a pen. The last one was with a marker, and was the first one I did in this style.
