Harmonic Revelations 8,836 February 20, 2013 Share February 20, 2013 So this thread is here to speculate what kind of powers Twilight would gain from her Alicorn status, besides the magical power of having her own sub-forum. I personally think that her magic might become more powerful with her Alicorn status.
Betez 1,734 February 20, 2013 Share February 20, 2013 WHAT!?! You think Twilight is more powerful than Celestia? I don't think so, not yet anyway. She still has a long way to go before she is truly unstoppable-ly powerful. But I do think She'll maybe rule Ponyville, as Celestia rules all of Equestria. I don't quite know yet what her powers can do now that she is an Alicorn. 1 My OC Stay pony my friends"And ALWAYS remember...to never forget." - Someone who I'm sure has said this before I did
Leafeon 2,702 February 20, 2013 Share February 20, 2013 I think that it'll stay the same, honestly. Not sure though. The only thing I can say for sure, is that Trixie is now cannonly highest level unicorn. :V 3 Eeveelutions: @Vaporeon: N-Harmonia : Ampharos @Flareon: Descant/Bard @Espeon: Locked @Umbreon: Lhee @Leafeon: Firebolt @Glaceon: Mal @Sylveon: Don'tDropThatDedenne
mycarhasaMoustache 449 February 20, 2013 Share February 20, 2013 I dunno really twilight has has always been slightly op, Now shes an Alicorn shes very op. So the only thing I can assume with Twilicorn and then revealing of Discord is the next villain the ponies face is going to be very powerful. duidamasterXD 9,627 February 20, 2013 Share February 20, 2013 I would definitely assume that she would become more powerful, and she was pretty stupidly powerful already. Of course I can't assume her limits yet, but I would guess less powerful than the Royal Sisters. Hm, can she use Starswirl's Cutie Mark Spell whenever she wants? If so, that is insanely overpowered.
Scootalove 10,689 February 20, 2013 Share February 20, 2013 Well, she was already powerful before as a unicorn. Now, that her power increased tenfold as a alicorn, we could say that we are in for a surprise in Season 4. But, we could know say that Trixie is now the new highest level unicorn! Mr Dash 1,820 February 20, 2013 Share February 20, 2013 Her powers have grown from being a powerful magic wielder, to a powerful magic wielder who can fly! I bet she even gets to super saiyan pony 2. She's already gone super saiyan pony. And of course her magic abilities will grow. She ascended into the next level. Like, don't underestimate my power man. Vicke 3,189 February 20, 2013 Share February 20, 2013 She will gain the power to fly, most likely. I don't think she will gain some magic power boost. Being an Alicorn does NOT mean you will become stronger in your magic abilities, there has been no conformation or info about that at all. And why do some people compare her power with two goodnesses? Her power will hopefully not even be close to their power. 2 Signature made by Kyoshi
Commander_PonyShep 349 April 29, 2013 Share April 29, 2013 (edited) As an alicorn princess, will she be overpowered to the point of no longer relying on her friends? I ask because when I watched a video about Rarity's self-defense capabilities, the speaker called Twilight the alicorn overpowered. But really, I highly doubt that. When I read Twilight Sparkle and The Crystal Heart Spell, she proven herself that she still has to depend on her friends, whether for decisions on how to run Equestria, or to stop another world-ending catastrophe. Because she's more skilled with magic, she won't have the physical strength of Applejack or the aerial agility of Rainbow Dash, despite her wings. And, as another example of still depending on her friends, she would have to get flight lessons from Rainbow. In other words, her friends could be one of two things: Her bodyguards, or her advisers. Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,937 April 29, 2013 Share April 29, 2013 (edited) Why is this such an issue all of a sudden? Twilight has ALWAYS been overpowered in terms of the mane 6. Oh, now she has become a bit more powerful, so what? That shouldn't change anything. If the rest of the characters had no problems with, and even admired Twilight, for her talents in magic, than I see them having no issues with her now. Everypony has one thing that makes them completely unique. With Twilight, in terms of her talent, it is her skill in magic. The rest of the mane 6 have their own special parts to their personality. The Alicorn will not change this in anyway whatsoever. In terms of the last part, it is possible, but those are not the only options. While them being her bodyguards or advisors would make sense, perhaps they will go with a different approach: Her friends treating her no different, because she is still Twilight after all. Yes, she still has to rely on the rest of the mane 6. It will always be that way. That is why the Elements of Hamrony are there, to keep a balance. Twilight may have control over the most powerful element, but it is useless without the others. She will not abandon her friends and her friends will not abandon her. Something that some bronies need to learn from. She has achieved her destiny and that should not a bad thing, it should be a fantastic thing. Yes, it goes against the status quo of the show, but that is called character advancement, something that many cartoons would even dare to think about. True Rarity 1,240 April 29, 2013 Share April 29, 2013 As friends, I don't think the Mane 6 care who's more powerful. They can either make a big deal out of Twilight's alicorn transformation or file it as a minor change and move on. Either way, she's still their friend. If they overpower her, they'll be doing it for a good reason that will most likely benefit their friendship! 2 My deviantART

I still think she's Overpowered either way, but way more important than that, she became a Mary Sue, which in my opinion, is worse. Meghan McCarthy said she'll be mortal. I once asked her on Twitter if Twilight will outlive her friends as an alicorn, and she said "no". It won't mean that Twilight will be killed off once Season Four comes around, but it is proof that Twilight will age normally like her friends, and eventually die and join them in the same grave. If this is the case, then there can only be one explanation: She's not overpowered, and is still dependent on her friends as always.

How exactly would it negatively effect the show? Well, first i'm gonna say I don't call her that because others seem to do it, from the moment Twilicorn was announced I suspected this, and i was correct. Mary Sue, in terms of Roleplaying, is a predictable character who gains and maintains a constant personality, is either Go-Lucky, everything going their way, or incredibly depressing with depressing words and such. The reason i came to a conclusion that Twilight is one, is that, becoming a princess "through the magic of friendship" is the most predictable thing the show had ever came up with, not only that, but the way she earned princesshood, by making a crappy remake of the "Return Of Harmony Part 2" episode, no motivation, just save friends, be princses, yay. I seem to remember that the animation team did a "one hot minute" thing for twilight post Alicorn change. They showed that she was having to learn how to fly etc, so I'm assuming that that means she'll also have to learn how to use her new powers... That is assuming that she is actually more powerful now and that the Alicorn thing isn't more of a status change. I mean look at Cadance, she's not exactly powerful is she? 2 Street artist | activist | Fanfic writer | Fire Spinner | attempting Musician

We really cannot say anything beyond, except for speculation. Honestly, this whole 'Twilight outliving here friends' things is a pretty pointless worry.
duidamasterXD 9,627 April 29, 2013 Share April 29, 2013 I mean look at Cadance, she's not exactly powerful is she? She's actually demonstrated more explicit power than pretty much any unicorn in the show (Bar Sombra, who's special) in creating a magical shield that dwarfed Shining Armor's and was capable of restraining Sombra for long periods of time. I think Cadence is extremely powerful, albeit with much different abilities than most characters. This is something that I think the writers will have to walk a wire to prevent from happening. I thought Twilight was too overpowered anyway, and if this transformation increased her magical abilities (which is fairly probable), then it may grow more difficult to suspend disbelief at times. I believe the writers will do their best to distribute importance and roles in solving major conflicts relatively equally, but it remains to be seen whether they will do this in a way that will satisfy me. I hope they manage to.

I agree that the writers will be tightrope walking on this one, but I'm sure they can do it. Well they said the reason in the first place Twilight was going to be a Princess was so she could replace Celestia in further years. If Twilight lives maybe what, 40-50 years more, it'd be pretty pointless to make her a Princess in the first place. Lauren's original vision of the show included Twi 'ere to replace Celestia, without turning into a Princess. So, it's not a Baseless Assumption. :

It is only baseless on the grounds that we do not know if they are intending on using Faust's vision, which I already knew about. It is possible, but it is pointless to make any concrete assumptions at this point, since the season has yet to start and Faust is obviously no longer involved. Shanks 10,816 April 29, 2013 Share April 29, 2013 I think it is going to depend on how her alicorn transformation is going to be handled in season 4, how long will it take her to learn to fly? How long will take for her to adjust to her new form? Exactly how large will the power boost she got from the transformation be? How long will it take to learn to control that power? And how quickly will her powers grow? Those and other factors will determine whether or not Twilight will become too overpowered too quickly which is my main concern about twilicorn which I would say we have a 50/50 shot of. Wingnut 7,005 April 29, 2013 Share April 29, 2013 Meghan McCarthy said she'll be mortal. I once asked her on Twitter if Twilight will outlive her friends as an alicorn, and she said "no". It won't mean that Twilight will be killed off once Season Four comes around, but it is proof that Twilight will age normally like her friends, and eventually die and join them in the same grave. Actually, if I recall, Meghan said Twilight wouldn't outlive her friends. That's potentially a double entendre. Instead of saying Twilight won't exceed a normal pony lifespan, maybe they all have super longevity instead? Anyway, Kyoshi is right. Twilight's magic has always made her more powerful than her friends. Even Pinkie's abilities couldn't compete with everything Twi can do. Still, she's not invincible. Remember she was turned to stone by a cockatrice once and needed Fluttershy to save her. Whatever powers becoming an alicorn may add to her repertoire, we have to assume she's nowhere near Luna or Celestia's league. And she's always going to need her friends' help to utilize the most powerful magic known to Equestria.
hawkflame 3,310 April 30, 2013 Share April 30, 2013 While I have to agree that she's always been more powerful than the rest, and in that respect there won't be much of a difference, I think that if you make a character more powerful you run the risk of making them more difficult to write. If they were more powerful, it would be harder to create a credible threat or problem they couldn't fix. Take for example Superman. I love the character, but sometimes it's frustrating when the writers seem to forget that he has super speed. Thus a lot of his battles could have ended much quicker. Now I'm not saying that it's *going* to happen, but if she gets a significant enough boost... it is a risk. 1 Sig by Thunderstorm Check out my Rarity fansite!
