cosplay Luna guard help

ok so im making a cosplay for the captian of the night guards (or lunar guards if you prefer) and i already got the armor and such down idea wise, but i cant decied on his weapon (yes he needs one...for reasons >.>) should it be a single edge katana, or a double edge sword a european knight would carry? keep in mind i may have a cape

I kinda like the idea of a Halbeard or spear. It's what you see the Royal Guards with, so I would assume the Lunar Guards would have something similar.

 

Other than that, I like a double edge sword more.

Yeah, something regal and imposing.  I say go with a claymore, although it would be large enough to be a bother if you're doing much more than just taking some pics.
