Pomfritter 165 October 28, 2013 Share October 28, 2013 Gah. I think I would like the show for completely different reasons. I feel like I would just die whenever they did a funny scene with those accents.
Silver Letter 1,832 October 28, 2013 Share October 28, 2013 (edited) Actually to be honest I like British English way better than American English. So... What would MLP be like if it was produced in the UK? MLP - FiM somehow makes me feel Equestria is some fairy tale based US + Canada. So... what if Equestria was based on some fairylike England? This includes ponified place names like: Prandon? (London LOL), Buckingham Palace (already ponified lol), Marechester (Manchester), Oatford (Oxford) etc. British cultural elements and of course the infamous British accent So... what would it be like? Also (poll) would you still like MLP - FiM as much as you do now if it was British? Okay first idea: Sweet Apple Acres => Splendid Tea Plantations Apple Cider => Splendid Tea Mane 6 => Fancy 6 (okay these names aren't too good...) Twilight Sparkle => Gloaming Glimmer? (lol) Pinkie Pie => Gaily Selcouth Applejack => Teajack Rainbow Dash => Flashy Feather? (lol) Fluttershy => Yellow Timid (lol) Rarity => Darling Elizabeth (LMAO xD) There would be a good chance that few would have heard of the show in the US and Canada if it was made in Europe and for a European audience. So I guess it is good that it was not. And I don't care for the possible names that the British would give the mane six. They don't sound very good. Lauren Faust revealed that she originally wanted to give Rarity a British accent Now, I think that would have ruined the character in my opinion. Rarity is perfect the way she is, including her neutral but charming voice. Edited October 28, 2013 by Nightmare Diamond Silver Letter!!! Malinter 3,064 October 28, 2013 Share October 28, 2013 (edited) The male mane6 names wouldn't be to bad in it. Let me have a go. Twilight Sparkle = Twilight Velvet (her mom's name lol) Rarity. = Charity Fluttershy = Faintheart Rainbow Dash = Mary Ann "Rainbow" Dash (lol) Applejack = Jacquline Apple Pinkie Pie = Pinkamena Daine Pie. *meh Edited October 28, 2013 by Malinter 1 My OC's: Malinter, Rahl, Vengeful impact & alias-the-marked-one First fic i've written since forever here Skype: Malinter@Outlook.com "Defeating a sandwich only makes it tastier." most legendary quote ever. Untitled Goose Q 5,137 October 28, 2013 Share October 28, 2013 I think it may well be very good. My favourite cartoons (except FiM, of course) are all British, made by Cosgrove Hall. Doing it with the stereotypical British accent would be hilarious. But I think I'd agree that it would have a much lower audience, even if it would be absolutely spiffing! Spikey-Wikey 378 October 28, 2013 Share October 28, 2013 All the 7 mane characters have Canadian-American-Greenlandic (jk) accents, which means Equestria is them two countries massed together, with British accent's, they would not sound actually much different.
Winona the Dog 1,984 October 28, 2013 Share October 28, 2013 I think it wouldn't be stereotypical at all....... For real though im not sure what to think of a British version of MLP. Would most likely be the same just a different accent.

Jon the VGNerd 885 November 2, 2013 Share November 2, 2013 Honestly, having a British version of MLP: FiM would make the show 20% cooler. Their accents would be so awesome, including Rarity's, because simply put, I love characters with different accents in English.

Winona the Dog 1,984 November 2, 2013 Share November 2, 2013 Maybe Applejack would have character conflicts with herself. Being British yet Southerner at the same time?!? Dashabel 381 November 2, 2013 Share November 2, 2013 I'm not a fan if the changing names. I think the current names would work perfectly fine in British production. Fancy 6? I mean, c'mon... They might as well be five more clones of Rarity. I feel the voices wouldn't be as refined if it was British. I mean, Applejack would be Scottish, Pinkie Pie a Geordie, but apart from that, I don't think it would work. I don't know why (and I think there's something wrong with me for thinking this), but the acting seems to work better with American accents. And that's coming from an English person. MelancholicMemory 2,025 November 2, 2013 Share November 2, 2013 Sweet Apple Acres => Splendid Tea Plantations Apple Cider => Splendid Tea You are basing things on bad stereotypes. Tea is not from Britain. It became a popular drink there during the later 17th/ early 18th centuries when they imported it from India. The stereotype was solidified in the mid to late 18th century when Britain came to dominate the tea trade in India as a result of the 7 Years (French and Indian) War. Tea is not grown in Britain, as far as I know. If it does exist, it is not a big production. It certainly isn't something you'd name ponified Britain for Also, by the way, both the US and the UK speak English. The names would be the same.
Rinkitty 589 November 2, 2013 Share November 2, 2013 Ummm... Then it would be British. It'd be made in Britain. It'd have British people working on it, and perhaps people who aren't British. Hive King 2,001 November 2, 2013 Share November 2, 2013 Everypony would sound boss, especially if they got Jeremy Irons for Discord and Chris Ayres for Sombra and Chryalis. Discord would sound like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8wgXRNYcPM and Sombra would sound like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fe5Hv_v85U at 3:21 and Chrysalis would sound like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgPxo0S44iM "Aren’t we the same? Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,537 November 2, 2013 Share November 2, 2013 While I do like British English better, there wouldn't be a huge difference except for some humor and of course the accents. The names wouldn't change, as they didn't even change in the Japanese version (of course). Rarity with a British accent would be pretty neato though, no doubt. Molecular Kogwheel 37 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 Prandon? (London LOL), Buckingham Palace (already ponified lol), Marechester (Manchester), Oatford (Oxford) etc. HAM? Are you loco in a coco? Only humans eat ham, so tht should be ponified too. Buckinghay Palace. Yeah, that sounds much better. Also, how about Lundyon for the ponified London? Not_A_Replicant 109 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 If My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic was British. I think my mind would explode. Everything is better in British. Doctor Who would be nearly as entertaining if it was American.
squareyes 153 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 I find it funny how the speaks in the British accent stereotype. No one. Not even middle-class families from bloody Kensington. Anyway back on topic, I wouldn't like it. I don't know why but sure it would be nice to have a show that you adore centralised in your own country but I don't feel like the fandom could have had the same affect on the internet if it was British. Put it this way. If a new show started on CBBC which the same sort of audience as bronies started talking about, wanted to expand their love aboard, would an American bother trying to find it on the internet. It's not as likely no. Why? Because there's not as many Americans as there are British who would make the show accessable aboard and strive to do so. I'm probably thinking about this too much. Although Equestria Girls would probably look very different. As a British animation graduate, I'll fill you in on a little secret. British TV animation is BUCKING AWFUL (With the odd exception).
