A recurring villain

Through season 1,2 and 3 we really never saw a recurring villain and since the show writes said they would do something different for season 4, I must ask you guys:

 

Would you like new a recurring villain to appear in season 4? or do you prefer the two parters more?

I love the 2 parters but there is no reason a recurring villain couldnt do a 2 parter. I do think a recurring villain is needed as a lot of the time there dosnt seem to be much of a threat against Equestria. I think an arch enemy is required like what Robotnik is to sonic or the Darleks to the doctor.

Aren't Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon recurring villains?

 

If we're talking about recurring villains like Cobra or the Decepticons, I'd think Chrysalis and her army of expendable minions fit the bill.

 

But I'm with 100 beasts kaidou on this:

These kind of antagonists are better left for special stories.

Well the only way a reccruing Villan can work is if that said Villan wasn't all take over equestria powerful and stuff.

A reccruing Villan would have to be someone who can give the mane six a hard or bad time constantly, while not being a huge threat. That way the slice of life story episodeds and way the show has been wont be affected.

On that note Dimand Tiara and Silver Spoon already fit that kind of role. If you want someone for the Mane six then that may be difficult to make.

That's the only way I see it working if they want to keep the slice of life episode plots.

As others have said, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon are reoccurring villains for the Cutie Mark Crusaders.

 

As for a reoccurring villain that could oppose the Mane Six or pose a threat to Equestria, I'm not sure. If Trixie hadn't been reformed I would say her or even Discord if not for the same reason, but I could see maybe Chrysalis becoming one since I see little chance of her ever being reformed. Either that, or bring Flim and Flam back.

I'm not sure if the fandom is ready for a recurring villain. I heard that when Return Of Harmony first came out, many bronies were scared that Discord would become a recurring villain. I personally don't understand why they were so worried. It's not like the first season opened with a 2-parter with a villain or anything....

When I first watched the show I expected Nightmare Moon to be the recurring villain. I though the show would revolve around defeating her. I also thought Celestia and Twilight were sisters at first. :x

I suppose that's a good point, but I think a good combination of slice of life and villain-related conflict episodes would've been just fine. I guess the current mix is good enough for me, but I personally wouldn't mind another reoccurring villain to stand beside Diamond Tiara and her crazy fan her friend Silver Spoon.

 

If there is a reoccurring villain added, though, I think they should probably just use one of the many, many antagonists we already have, if that's possible. Hopefully GIlda or Lightning Dust or Flim and Flam.
