Toastie 110 April 4, 2013 Share April 4, 2013 Well personally I don't have a problem with pegasister and I tend to use it myself when addressing a female. It is purely because I would like to be acknowledged for my gender instead of just being classed as "a person". Not that I have a problem with calling females bronies if they asked to of course . But one to their own.
cuteycindyhoney 13,315 April 5, 2013 Share April 5, 2013 I seem to be a minority with my liking of the name Pegasister. Oh well. I'm okay with Brony though, so Pegasister falling from favor doesn't bother me. 1 Thank you Sparklefan1234!!!
Shift 4,272 April 5, 2013 Share April 5, 2013 'Men' can be referred to both Males and Females. 'Dude' is gender neutral, as I consider anything with 'Bro' to be gender-neutral. Not brothers, of course, but Brohoofs and Bronies. I mean, Pegasisters don't seem to mind brohoofs, we don't have 'sis'hooves. I don't give a fudge about what you call me, but I do prefer brony. Have the courage to think and act on your own. And have the courage to disobey.
Eragonrde12 49 April 5, 2013 Share April 5, 2013 Some girl bronies get angry if you call them pegasister, and other girl bronies get mad if you call them a brony. I'm so confused Amazing sig made by Gone ϟ Airbourne
FruitRiver 355 April 5, 2013 Share April 5, 2013 In short, pegasister sounds dumb. Of course, im not offended if you call me that, I cant imagine why that would be offensive. But brony sounds better, or just pony fan. 'Men' can be referred to both Males and Females. Thank goodness there isnt a 'sis'hoove. Plus I agree, why would there be a different word for girls when 'bro' means both? I also dont love "dudette" sounds equally dumb,
Cookie Feather 490 April 5, 2013 Share April 5, 2013 Why do some Pegasisters prefer to be called Bronies? Why must some get offended when we call them pegasisters? Is there a difference all of a sudden? So many questions. In my opinion, Pegasister sounds cuter~ it has a nice ring to it as well. We are family, I got all my pegasisters with me. n w n So no complaining on my end. 1 My DAggggMy OCggggMy Steam
Batbrony 16,055 April 5, 2013 Share April 5, 2013 (edited) As a female brony, that's what we call segregation. It separates the fandom just due to gender, which isn't very fair. If you want to be called that, fine. But, it puts a very bad light on a fandom which is all about including everyone. Eh, personally, and I'm not trying to be offensive in any way, but I've honestly never understood the "it puts a bad light on the fandom because it's discriminatory" argument. Don't get me wrong, if somepony specifies that she'd prefer to be called a brony than a pegasister, that's fine by me, I have no problem so long as they specify, and certainly wouldn't want to offend them. But personally, I've always loved the term "pegasister"; think it sounds kinda kick@$$, and I don't see any reason anypony should get riled up about it. If you don't want to be called it, fine, if you do, fine, but no reason to make a mountain out of a molehill; it just doesn't seem like that big of an issue. Clarity 3,094 April 5, 2013 Share April 5, 2013 Lol. Like, does it even matter? It's just a fun term that we use to shorten "Fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" and call each other. Brony or pegasister, I really couldn't care what people call me as long as it's not anything rude. I find it weird that people get offended by random, fun terms that aren't meant to be racist at all. hawkflame 3,310 April 5, 2013 Share April 5, 2013 To me, it makes little sense to justify "Brony" as gender neutral when it has the word "Bro" in it. If I were a girl, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with the idea that a word with a clearly masculine origin is being classified as gender neutral. Would anyone ever argue that "Pegasister" is gender neutral? Maybe we need to come up with another term for both genders other than Brony... 1 Sig by Thunderstorm Check out my Rarity fansite! Davoo 8 April 5, 2013 Share April 5, 2013 That can be looked at as separation, or it can be looked on as inclusion. I think the people who thought the term up and popularized it where thinking "hey, I want to call you a brony, but you're not male, therefore not a brother, therefore not a 'bro', therefore cannot be a brony. Let's make a new term just for you that means pretty much the exact same thing, so that you can be part of this!" But still, the reason it still doesn't catch on is because one stupid name is enough. Twinhead B 482 April 6, 2013 Share April 6, 2013 (edited) I personally don't see the point in having two different terms that describe the same thing. I'd be all for changing Brony to something a little more gender-neutral, but a change like that is unlikely to ever happen. Why confuse non-fans and haters with different terminology? The way I see it; we're all fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, what goes on below the belt is irrelevant. Cosmic Charlie 129 April 6, 2013 Share April 6, 2013 If anything, I would've thought girls would be offended by being called bronies because it's yet another all-inclusive male form. Bro, being brother, being definitely a male, ya know? I get the segregation angle, though. It's not meant to be in that spirit, I think, just another fun fan pun name. Say that five times fast! Neon Fire 473 April 6, 2013 Share April 6, 2013 I don't mind being called a Pegasister. Although I don't mind to be called a Brony either. I'm not sure why some take offense to it, but I'm fine with both. =P
