Although It wasn't technically on topic.

Well it is just that Jump owns everything in that game so they can make it in Japan, but in America like 18 different companies own different animes in that game so it would be hugely expensive to localize it... though is the PS3 region locked? I heard something about gettinga Region free version of the game and just looking up translations for the menus.

All the best JRPG's never come to the US. The new digimon game on the original psp looked fucking awesome.

Did it get a release over here. Nope.

Sometimes people end up making fan translations but I can never get them to work so fuck it.

My brother is getting me a Japanese xbox 360 and a copy of Clannad...a visual novel... with only Japanese words... I probably should learn Japanese, find a translation, or just pick random choices.

Ah well I'm downloading a couple of cool looking games on steam:

 

Lifeless Planet - An early access game set in the retro space times where you are an astronaut exploring a planet trying to survive, looks awesome

 

How To Survive - A diablo style isometric 3d zombie survival horror rpg with perks and crafting and what not (it was £2.99 on sale usually £11.99 so I had to get it).

My brother is getting me a Japanese xbox 360 and a copy of Clannad...a visual novel... with only Japanese words... I probably should learn Japanese, find a translation, or just pick random choices.

Learning Japanese just to play games seems totally OTT imo but hey it's up to you. I don't know if there is a transalation but if there is you should go that route. I played only one visual novel of a Japanese game and old pc game. It was a 'classic' apparently, it was set in space and it was how should I put it rather adult in nature. 

Okay it was basically porn, I played a jap porn game it was kind of amusing.

Can I just say this, kitty? My brother watches One Piece and I had to explain to him that the things they were saying was a syllabary, a language/writing system built on prebuilt syllables, not like an abjad where everything is just consonants (like Arabic) or a true alphabet with independent vowel and consonant symbols (like the Germanic and Romance languages).

 

Anyway, when I explained that to him, it made a lot of sense to him when something like the word "bag" is said as "ba-gu" in Japanese.

Don't worry I'm not going into Japanese blind. I can already hold a basic Engrish conversation and that is just from watching anime. I know a bit about Japanese grammar and sentences, like adding -ka to the end of any verb/word/sentence makes it question. Also don't bother with One Piece it is way to long and takes to much time to get into.

Well if he has been emotionally invested since the start of course there is no stopping him. It is like my older brother and Naruto, he has every manga volume of it.

Let's see, I'm only an hour and a half from the Illinois border, I went to Indiana on a trip and while in Indiana we went to a museum just over the border of Kentucky. My dad owns property in Hurley Wisconsin which is only about 20 minutes from the Upper Peninsula. Then when my aunt was moving from California to Virgina I flew out there with my sister and grandfather and we drove my aunts car back to Wisconsin were she had a flight lay over. That trip covered all of the western states I listed.

 

edit: oh yeah and I've taken a family vacations to Iowa and Ohio before
