Also,

They shouldn't need permission to alter what's theirs!

It's reasonable, logical.

It's very easy to just ask permission to alter it.

Shhhh...

You might anger the paperwork gods.

So... returning paperwork, a normal part of filling out paper work will upset the gods.

But what if you refuse?

I most likely won't, I'd just want to know the way you're altering it,and what you're altering into.

You'd also have to swear to never share information on how to create the implant.

have you done it before?

Done what?

They can do whatever they want with their implants, because those implants belong solely to them as soon as they're installed.

Even if you did reverse engineer it, it'd be incredibly dangerous.

I'm just doing what's best for my patients.

It doesn't matter. While Equestria has no laws against this sort of thing, Earth does.

you are?

Robotics isn't exacty like LEGO.

You can't just take it apart and put it back together, you need to know exactly how to do it or long term damage could result.

I agree wholeheartedly.

I'm still a bit worried for my patient's safety.

It is their right to alter their own body however they wish. If they bring harm to themselves, that's their own fault.
