Molestation, comics, jokes, some random encounter with mods, things like that :P

Nothing out of the ordinary then

Found it on the KYM pony board. I don't know the original source sadly.

I still saved it though.

Huh. I was hoping it was from some MLP fan animation that I hadn't seen before or something

So, I started on page 430 and worked my way forward. Surprisingly, I'm still sane. Completely sane. Either that, or perhaps… I was never sane to begin with. There is evidence for either possibility. Take your pick. Actually, I'm freaking doomed - I've become an RP player. Not a problem though. I'm cool with this. I hope no one asks me what my hobbies are when I start work tomorrow at a new job.

aah, whats your new job?

Yeah, my participation turned out to not really make the activity legit. As a matter fact, I might've had a feather plucked.

So you basically saved us?

Spiders love you.

No. Seriously. I jumped at that image :(

@, Feld0 mentioned earlier you had wrist injuries. How bad was it? :<

Well, it happened back in April or May. Too much lawn work, over-strenuous weightlifting routine, and typing on a keyboard like a madman. Between all of these things, I ended up with a nasty case of repetitive stress injury. I actually kept typing through it though, which was stupid. Then, I think it was back in June, I had hand pains so bad that I actually couldn't move my hands all. I literally went days without sleep, because it felt like someone was hammering steel rods straight up my arms through my hands. I started using speech to text software back then so that I could keep using my computer. (Actually, I'm still using speech to text software.)

Thankfully, here I am in August and I am almost fully recovered. Emphasis on the *almost*. I no longer have sharp pains all over, and my hands have full range of motion. Downside is that typing anything longer than 200 characters on a desktop keyboard is still out of the question. I could do it, but I would pay for it over the next week. I've only recently regained the ability to actually move an ordinary mouse without sharp pains. I still can't reliably click mouse buttons in a natural way (I tend to just hit the mouse buttons with something heavy enough to trigger it - keeps the pressure off the wrists).

I'm actually writing a blog entry about my experiences, because anyone that uses a computer for more than 8 hours a day is easily in danger of ending up exactly where I was. That's really not the kind of injury that you think young people get, but I was only 25 and it was like I got hit by a freight train. To say that it was a nightmare would be an understatement. It only gets better when you go to your doctor for information and they tell you that you're totally and completely screwed for the rest of your life.

But I wasn't actually screwed up at all. I've come a long way just over the past month, and I expect to make a full recovery over the next one. If I could summarize what to do and what not to do:

  • When your wrist starts to hurt, stop typing.
  • Doctors don't know everything. Especially about repetitive stress injuries.
  • Running and wall push-ups are great for recovering from wrist injury. Don't do push-ups on the ground unless you want to get set back about a month.
  • Make sure your monitors are at eye level - you shouldn't have to crane your neck to see your monitors. You should be able to sit naturally and look straight ahead.
  • Regular mice suck, use a trackball. Trackballs suck, use a touchpad.
  • Spare no expense on your keyboard. (But, be careful with buckling spring keyboards if you are heavy typist. More expensive is not *always* better.)
  • You shouldn't have to reach up or down to type on your keyboard.
  • Don't rest your wrists on anything while typing. Keep your hands in the air.
  • Take breaks from typing.
I think that just about covers it. If I had done all those things, then I'd be fine right now.

aah, whats your new job?

Mercifully, it consists of mostly sitting in meetings, staring at spreadsheets, and watching people yell at each other. I'm only a number cruncher, so all I have to do is lots of reading and the occasional spreadsheet. The perfect job for recovering from a typing injury. ^_^

Youch...

I pray you will get better soon! :(

I work ten hours a day using computer... Better grab a better mouse :x

Anyway, thanks for everything you've done for this forum. I have no idea you are the only one who had access to the site's coding. Have a cake!
