Keep in mind that the 4chan pony fans and bronies are quite different. 4chan's fans dislike the fact that it spread past 4chan, and they dislike what the outside fandom has become. /b/ronies also started the "love and tolerance" thing, except it was used as an anti-troll technique. It somehow became the motto for the whole fandom.

It's quite the story, really. And I don't think so, he's probably locked himself away in his basement forever out of shame

The word "meme" was originally used by 4channers, and a lot of the memes people use today came from there--Much to the disdain of 4chan's users, however. They were stolen from them, in essence. No credit was given to the original source.
