Exactly. If somebody is messed up in the head enough to do something violent, the fact the video game influenced them to do it is just coincidence. If they didn't get the idea from a game, then they would have gotten the idea from the news, or from a book, or from their own imagination.

Eeyup. Your never gonna go "Oh, I think I feel like killing about 12-15 people cause this game is so awesome and filled with death." Now, if you have that thought or something similar already sitting and fermenting in the back of your head, then you might do just that after seeing it and thinking it might be fun in real life.

For some reason video games are always in the wrong place at the wrong time. You hardly ever see or hear something about a book supposedly encouraging something like this. Hell, I could see a book actually doing that if the writer is good with words and someone really closely follows them. Games don't have that type of power.

You know what I just realized...

That it would be absolutely hilarious to see someone attempt to recreate Gears down to the T.

Bouncing off walls and everything. Keep in mind when the characters bounce or just slide into a wall, you slam into it. Now go slam yourself into a wall either crouching or fully standing repeatedly. Now try that, but cancel your slide right before you hit the wall and do that multiple times. I'm sure the person would tire out or get knocked unconscious before even doing any damage.

Even better would be to see someone attempt a curb stomp the old fashioned way. Standing above the person and spinning around like a ballerina before kicking straight into the air hoping to hit something. Many times you would kick them in the ass for the kill

God I miss that game. ;-;

Should go relive those days...

This is one of those discussions where everyone agrees that one side is better and proceed to bash the opposite side, isn't it?

Well, there isn't actually anyone in here to defend that other side. So, I would assume it is.

Gears of War

Gears is not that unrealistic.

Some of those tricks are actually workable in military terms. Very few.

Tho, I'd love someone to try do a roadie run in that get up they got. Or even *a* roadie run.

So, you'll go into the whole "Yeah, we hate those dudes" any second now, right? =P

You're actually trying to tell me some of that shit is realistic in anyway? Other than blindfiring around corners/over cover in case of enemies (though, I'm sure that would do more harm than good in the long run unless actually in a firefight), Keeping your head down at all times...Ok I got nothing else that could be realistic at all. :/

Id love to know what would actually work.

Roadie runs are hard as hell to do on a normal basis and Im pretty sure the thing I've tried isn't exactly right.. Put on that overweight armor that doesn't seem to do its job and I don't see anyone making it too far at all.

lol I think we may have already established that part. :P

Though I'm sure its ending cause nothing else has been said about it.

What game are you talking about?

Then stop responding to them, dummy.

But I have to keep up my "internet tough guy" appearance.

Forum stands for some resemblance of quality.

In all honesty, that kind of random discussion is best to left to something that better supports short random blathering about this and that.

Posting on a forum should require a minimum of intent of having a discussion in some semblance of rationale.

Whether the topic needs to be rational, that is an entirely different matter.

Somehow this thread has managed to become a double standard, anything goes.

When the rest of the forum has to follow a very simple guideline in their content even for Cloudsdale: stay on-topic.

Here, the topic could be changing and be multilateral, instead it's constant off-topic.

I personally don't agree with this. Sure, you should be able to have a coherent conversation on a forum, but since we're in the forum lounge I don't think having such conversations here is a prerequisite. The lounge was made with the idea that people will post stupid shit in it in mind.

I guess your idea to have the "Random Chat Thread" is the best solution for this problem, but I dunno. The former state of the chat thread didn't really bother me at all, and I don't think it bothered anyone else either, besides you.

Dammit.

Meaning you are bored shitless.

And where else would there be a discussion thread?

This is the only one, and all others will get locked or cause confusion, buthurt and drama.

I don't think any admin or site owner much enjoys the thought of shiposting.

Neccesity out of stupidity, yes, but actively supported?

I think some lock messages explicitly state that even Cloudsdale has standards. Oh yes, they did.

Shitposting falls way below those low standards when it happens.

I don't think it bothered anyone else either, besides you.

Did I ever say it did?

I don't think so.

I represent the State of Libby, not the vague State of "Well, duh, you know who".

Blind firing a weapon get's you courtmarshalled. It's bullet, it WILL fuck up someone's day if it hits them.

It breaks the Rules of Engagement. That's a big fucking no-no.

Was more talking about tactics and what not.

Keeping your head always down and maneuvering for a flank is solid. Rest is kind of BS.

I've heard of it, but I never knew what it was about.

Let's see..

Basically a race of sentient creatures living below the planet start attacking for reasons unknown at first. They kill any and everything in an attempt to take over the land above. Humans retaliate in defense and a war starts.

Short basic gist of it. Don't feel like typing in depth on my phone.

whats everyone's favorite song of all time?

Don't have one. I like too many to really choose.

Oh, never knew that.

What are the rules of engagement, if you don't mind explaining them.

Again, oh.

That makes enough sense.

you know one of the brushable toys comes with a cowboy hat, but I don't think its ever Applejack...

no matter I got a hold one one and now she has a hat proper

the blind bag one doesn't but it looks more statue-esque being the metalic coloured one

I'm avoiding studying for an exam right now.

Exactly, we can't really change where this thread goes. Obviously the staff believes this is the right place for it, since it's always been in here. So you're not going to be able to avoid the "spammy" posts that you hate so much, really. I guess you'll have to deal with it, then?

Again, your definition of shitposting and (most) everyone else's is different.

Of course the forum lounge has standards, but nothing like the word limits and "you must remain on topic at all times" like GD has. Those kinds of limits advocate more "discussion-y" threads. Here, it's a lot more loose, in a sense. Harmless posting of a few macros here and there and a few impromptu blurbs aren't explicitly against the rules, nor do I, the staff, or any one here thinks it causes a problem. You're the only one that thinks it does.

Did I ever say it did?

I don't think so.

Read directly above this

Wow.

Only 100 more pages until 2k pages total.

Hopefully post 40k will actually be worthwhile.

Yes, but very seldom usually.

I just want there to be no fighting (Oh man......the dreaded days....). I couldn't care less about the post's quality.
