I can foresee some will try to question the candidates' capability as staff, and you need as much stamina as you can for the imminent stress :x

 

My solution this time will be quite simple. All those who have questions regarding the capability of a candidate should open a moderation dispute. Anyone that doesn't… Clearly isn't serious regarding having their voice heard.

 

@, I couldn't seem to reproduce the previous glitch. Are you sure it's not related to your admin panel?

 

You know what… That's probably it :o

No kidding… We've already received a few “applications”. Heh.

That's what they think, but, as you say… The reality is completely different.

 

To be honest, I never thought that I would moderate another site again, but this site… Well, I find myself strangely in love with this place. It's worth the pain.

I used to be a moderator, not here but on another forum.

And lets just say, that forum wasn't as friendly as this. You know you are doing a good deed by keeping all the crap out of the site, but damn. It can be annoying as hell to come up with a fitting solution at times.

I was a moderator there for 4 months, then i left because of various reasons.

And now i found this little piece of diamond.

Regarding moderators... Never been given the opportunity to become one as of yet and I'm both jealous and glad... Except for one private forum, but that's all I can say.

Very lucky… Before joining this site, I was away from forums for nearly a decade. Seriously.

 

If I seem a little “out of the loop” with memes and other things like that, then the reason is because that I actually am. Other than research, I only used the Internet for reading the news and hunting down stuff for programming. No online social stuff whatsoever.

 

Before this one, in what sites did you become a staff?

I ran my own forums dedicated to Linux back in the late 90s. I ran several forums dedicated to a few open source games back in the early 00s. I was a moderator on several game sites at the same time. I actually had a ton of stuff going on… Then I stopped. Cold turkey. I can't remember my exact reasons, but I believe that they were combination of annoyance at one of my sites being annihilated by a rogue administrator and just plain exhaustion - dealing with people burns me out.

 

Well, it was also necessary for me to focus on school as well. My later years in high school, my time in college… They were rather involved.

 

I've run other sites in the past as well. But no more forums after about 2004. My principal reason is that I really don't like dealing with people at all. I have to think and analyze in order to figure out what to say. Each site is a totally different domain that needs new analysis. So, I simplify my existence by avoiding them. Except for this one.

My definition of roleplay is>

 

Weyland sighed.

 

He couldn't remember anything. His name, his age, why was he a pony, and how could he ended up in this situation. On his left, a familiar mare whimpered in terror. On his right, a dying stallion caked in blood and gore. On his face, a changeling, fresh blood still dripping from its fang

 

"You have nowhere to go, pony," it said.

 

For the second time, Weyland sighed. Can't this world just leave him alone? At least until he could find a way to rebuild his ship. Absentmindedly Weyland flexed his wings. Yep, still good. Without any further thinking he charged at the changeling.

 

"BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!"

 

<roll for blunt damage>

 

Well, that's how I usually roleplayed with my friends. Red text means other characters' dialogue, and Blue is the poster's. The roll gave others a chance to react with my actions. It's up to them whether my actions succeed or not. It gave the roleplay a different feel, and clearly no one in this site knows how to use it :/
