It hurts a little to breath now and again, my scars sometimes inch, and I can't run without getting out of breath immediately. But, it was years ago. 5 to be exact. It doesn't hurt anymore.

holy... i would never have known that... it sounds damn painful... how did you deal with it all???

 

I slept as much as I could. Most of the early days were spent unconscious. Sometimes I'd wake up in the middle of the night in pain, unable to sleep. And the people in the ICU were always so busy, so I didn't get painkillers too often. Not until the last month did I feel even remotely myself. I try not to think about it.

I have surgery scars. Due to a birth defect, my chest sinks in, which presses on my lungs. At the age of 14 I think, surgery was performed on me. They put a metal bar in my chest, and it was going to push up my chest from the inside over a few years time. Then, after enough time had passed, they'd remove it, and then my chest would be normal. Unfortunately, the bar became infected.

 

I spent 3 months in the hospital. I had gotten my surgery not too long before Christmas. When they first brought me home, I faced endless pain. So, they put me back into the hospital, where I remained for the entire winter season. They removed the bar early, so my chest only pushed up a tiny bit.

 

Those three months sort of changed me. Being bedridden for all that time kinda messed with my head. I am a different person from whom I was beforehand. And all I have to remind me of that awful time are a few scars from various things.

 

....Well, shit.....

That's one hell of story.

Meh, I'll elaborate.

 

Was a plank of wood, can't remember the measurements. Anyways, brother was pissed about something, can't remember what. I went outside, turned around the corner to the back yard, and he's there with a board. He throws it at me, it hits the ground, hits the ground, then swings and hits me right in the nose. Thankfully, it hit straight-on, and broke evenly, which is why it isn't really disfigured today.

 

@Berry Pie: That sounds like quite a thing to survive through. Sounds corny, but that makes you strong IMO. But I'm just a guy on the internet.

Nope, not anymore. For a small while after I was free of the hospital forever, which felt awesome, I needed to. But not at all now.

That sounds like quite a thing to survive through. Sounds corny, but that makes you strong IMO.

Er, thanks I guess. It's not like I was in an accident or anything. Just a botched surgery.
