I decide what games to buy from word of mouth, comments by regular people on forums and image boards, and plain ole research.

Yup I hope this is what most people do. Sadly I know that many would rather trust the judgement of a place like gamespot then anywhere else.

It's one thing to read reviews and a totally different thing to base your judgment on a game from that review alone.

For all you know, you could like a really unpopular game like Dirge of Cerberus but because the rest of the world said it sucks you just assume it is anyway.

I've heard for years how much DoC sucks and I consider it one of my favorite FF games.

One of my favorite party games has been Godzilla Unleashed for the Wii, I am not sure, but if I remember correctly it was considered trash by reviewers. Oh the hours I've spent playing that game with buddies. Literally that, Brawl, and Wario Ware are the only reasons I still have my Wii out of storage.

I have a tendency to like a lot of unpopular games. I have never once let a review sway me in a negative direction, though I have let a review hype me a bit. (There is a major difference between the two)

Well, I get Gameinformer and I only read about the games I am looking forward to then I trash them.

I get Game Informer and Nintendo Power and I keep them. I've got a shelf full of NP dating back to 2000. Sometimes I like to look at old issues and see what was out back then or how much things have changed. My first issue of NP was when the GameCube debuted at Spaceworld. Edited by Apple Bloom

I wish I still had NP. I used to get it as a kid but when I stopped buying Nintendo Consoles I guess I stopped getting them. Do they write a lot about the 3ds?

Last time I bought a video game magazine was for an in-depth preview of Pokemon Gold and Silver.

Damn where has the time gone.

I have no use for Nintendo Power anymore (the internet is now my source of information), but I did love the bonuses I got when I (well, my parents lol) ordered it. Like The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition. Then there was that one issue where they gave us the Smashing Live CD (Super Smash Bros. Melee songs performed by a real orchestra). I love that and I still listen to it after all of these years.

I loved that godzilla game for GCN, is it anything like that?

Quite a bit like it, same basic mechanics but with the wiimote and nunchuck rather than the GC controller. There's also a ton more monsters to unlock and play as and a really cool story mode that -depending on which monster you play it as and how much ass you proceed to kick- changes from playthrough to playthrough.

Like I said though, most fun is had playing with buddies

It is now a must buy for me. Time to get yet ANOTHER Wii.

If you get a Wii again I have a game recommendation that I would give to anyone. Baroque. It may not be your type of game but I absolutely adore it and will always recommend it.

Also, if you have a Gamecube or Xbox I would also suggest Goblin Commander: Unleash the Horde.

Both great, lesser known games.

I only get four magazines these days: GQ, PC Gamer, Sports Illustrated, and Time. I have hardly any spare time to read, as all my at home Down time is spent playing League of Legends or L4D2, I really regret getting into the competitive L4D2 scene, such a time waste, but oh so fun

Godzilla Unleashed is also on PS2, but there are differences between the versions, and while I prefer the Wii one, the PS2 one is still just as good and I assume wouldn't require you to go out and buy a new console

I have honestly never heard of L4D being competitive. lol

Then again, I don't even have a 360.

Oh well, as long as you loved Goblin Commander that's all that counts. I had never heard of the game when my mom bought it at Blockbuster. Instant love.

The only magazine I get is the Lego Magazine. I complained to them a few years ago for selling me a set that was missing a bunch of pieces, and they gave me a free subscription. I still get them, even though I don't build Lego anymore...

Damn, ninja'd 3 times...

Why are you dragging your cursor over my signature? Is there a problem here? Do you maybe expect something special? Honestly, that's kind of creepy. Are you trying to get as much information about me as possible? Maybe you're going to copy and paste this into onto your little collage or all things Lyra? (me, not the awesome BG pony...) You seriously have issues dude... I pity you.

Ye, competitive L4D2 exists still.

Primarily there are two groups of people that still play L4D2: shitty pubbers and competitive players, I rarely see any middle ground anymore, and the pool of each group is slowly evaporating into puddles.

I am part of the first group. God I was awful at that game.
