It took a while after entering Corkscrew's home to put the armor on, but he did it and was proud of this accomplishment, at least until he saw himself in the mirror.  The helmet was lopsided and his mane stuck out of it messily, the body was clearly too large and had empty sockets where a pegasus' wings would be, and he was pretty sure that he had managed to put the horseshoes on backwards.  "This looks ludicrous," he grumbled, but left the armor on, if only because he thought Corkscrew would get a good laugh about it.  "I suppose all there is to do now is wait..."

Corkscrew walked into his house to make sure everything was still secure. He double checked each room to make sure everything was still normal, until he walked into his den which he had been using as a staging point. He saw Plagal in his spare set of armor and almost busted out laughing. He had to hold back that laughter, hoping that Plagal would not notice.

 

"....Ok, I need you to stay here. Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, and the other bearers of the Elements of Harmony should be arriving soon. I need you to watch them, be inspirational to them. What ever you can do while we think up a plan." 

Corkscrew pauses for a moment thinking about what he may have to do.

 

"I didn't want to put you into this position, but I'm going to have to track down a few ponies to make sure there safe...Twilight and her friends will have on there elements so you can identify them. DO NOT let anypony else into this house otherwise. As for me, We'll use that same little thing we did earlier...kind of like a password."

 

Corkscrew walks over to a pile of letters that had been sitting on his table. One of which had arrived earlier. It had some sort of magic royal seal that nopony in the room could open. Corkscrew touches it and if finally opens.

 

"This must be one of those for your eyes only spells that Celestia must have used..."

Corkscrew begins reading the letter from Canterlot to himself than dose a quick facehoof.

 

"Drats, that's right. Rainbow Dash was in Canterlot today for some kind of something or another. Somepony has to go get her. We need all six for my plan to work."

Corkscrew looks out his window and sees a familiar pegasi walk by.

 

"Is that......Storm Cloud...or a Changling? Plagal, I'll be right back. Something might go down outside. Remember If something happens......"

 

Corkscrew walks outside closing the door behind him and confronts Storm Cloud in front of his window.

 

"Hey! You! Storm Cloud! Can I talk to you for a moment?"

 

Corkscrew walks over to him. 

 

"What place did you come in in that race, and what color was your ribbon?"

 

Corkscrew was hoping for that it was the real Storm Cloud and not a doppelganger.

Storm Cloud looked at Corkscrew with a raised eyebrow and replied, "I got 4th place and I didn't get any ribbon actually. Why do you ask?" Storm Cloud wondered why Corkscrew interrogated him to see if he was really himself. "At least I think I didn't get a ribbon. I kinda left a little early, if I don't win I don't really care about the awards. Kinda my pride thing."

Corkscrew looked Storm Cloud over again to conform it was really him. He had seen the end of the race and he did indeed get 4th.

 

"I just have to make sure, would you mind stepping inside for a moment."

Corkscrew motions for Storm cloud to come closer.

 

"We have a bit of a problem on our hands. How filimar are you with....Changelings? Ponyville is under attack and I need you to do something for Equestria. I have a plan, but I need a particular pony for it to work. I need you to go to Canterlot for me and retreve Rainbow Dash for me. Can you do that. Canterlot is under lock down also, so take this. Show it to the guard and he should let you through."

Corkscrew hands Storm Cloud the equivalent of a deputy badge. 

 

"When you see Dash, tell her I....We need her back here ASAP. The fate of Equestria depends on it."

The guards left after a few minutes out of hunger from what he could tell they were in the basement of the hospital and Parcel new that he he too would soon get hungery he had to get them out of this cacoon and fast. But before he could set a foot on the shell a changeling came walking down the steps that led into the basement. A changeling that Parcel remember but only from a dream. "Impossible."

"Oh it's very possible my young Boon for you see when I was killed in the bats mind I became a physical form. I suppose I have you to thank for that." Virus' wicked smile was cruel looking.

"This is impossible you aren't supposed to exist how dis you even get in his head?"

"Simple. I hopped from one mind to the other yes that's right I origionated from you. Put there by Chysalis of course." Virus was smug he knew that he was in control. "And now I think I'll go and pay you little friends a visit," a green flash revealed a mirror image of Parcel the real Parcel gasping, "you wouldnt dare."

Virus turned and walked up thr stairs looking back over his shoulder waving a hoof, "tata."

"YOU GET BACK HERE YOU SCUM!!" Parcel slammed his hoof on the wall of his prison but it was no use Virus was gone.

Nexus was filling out the requisition forms with as much haste as he could. As he worked, he could whispers in his mind.

 

"You need to feed. It is the only way to survive. These ponies are cruel, evil creatures, and must be stopped."

 

Nexus ignored these the best he could, and pressed on. He wasn't a changeling, so these voices weren't making sense, but he would figure that out later. He finished the letters, addressing them to Celestia with the word URGENT on each of them. The forms basically explained the situation and requested anything they could spare-armor, weapons, meds, supplies, whatever. When the notes were sent, there was a period of 10 minutes where Nexus was starting to think there request was denied. Until in through the window came several crates that from dust. About 6 crates were sent, each containing 2 suits of armor, spears and claws, and a few medicinal supplies. A note was attached to the last crate.

 

"Hope this helps. We cannot spare backup units at this time,so you are either going to have to drive them out or hold your position until we can spare reinforcements. I records show your father was a Night Guard that was KIA 16 years ago. We sent you the armor he used during his 2 year service in Celestia's personal guard. Where it proudly.

 

         -Guard Captain Shining Armor."

 

Nexus opened up the crate, eyes wide and the biggest grin forming on his face. He always was upset because he never got to see the armor that his father donned in his two year absence, who claimed that is was "sick." The chestplate was thicker and sturdier than the chestplate he was wearing, a slit eye on the chest. Several plates formed the armor, and ran down his entire body. This allowed more maneuverability. The helmet was large and strong looking, a patch covering one eye, a crescent shape on the front, and a fin running along the top and back. His claws were longer, and sharper. The coursed with extra lightning, a stronger enchantment. When he put the grieves on, and completed the set, the armor began to reshape and form, fitting onto Nexus perfectly. A spell is place on all armor of personal Guards to protect identity, and soon, Nexus' midnight blue coat was changed to grey, his green eyes turned gold, and his mane and tail turned purple, to match the rest of the armor. The patch on his eye actually didn't restrict view, but used magic to enhance it. All in all, Nexus looked like a grade A badass. He stepped out, looking around-and gaining a few frightened looks-until he ran into Corkscrew.

 

 

 

We have a bit of a problem on our hands. How filimar are you with....Changelings? Ponyville is under attack

 

"Corkscrew, sir. I have good news. We were sent supplies from Canterlot to counter the changeling invasion. Everything is in the library. I suggest anypony getting involved in combat make their way there and armor up." 

 

"Kill him. He is an evil pony who wishes the destruction of Equestria. You are stronger, and better armed. Kill him now."

 

Nexus shook his head lightly, shaking the thoughts from his mind. Something was still trying to control him. But he wasn't going to bend over backwards for these things that easily.

 "Al... Alright," Plagal said with a slight tremble in his voice.  "Should be easy enough, heh heh..."  Yeah, we're only guarding perhaps the sole advantage that we have over the changelings, nothing special.  It's not like they'd do anything and everything in their power to stop the Elements...  After a moment, Plagal shook his head and cleared his throat.  "Ahem...  Well go on!  Ponyville's counting on you!"

 

After Corkscrew left, Plagal had time to think.  I wonder... was it random chance that the changelings chose me as a doppelganger?  Could there be another reason?

 

As usual, his mind was the first to respond.  Well yeah.  Think about it.  We don't leave the house very often and we don't talk to very many ponies.  We don't have very many visitors and most of them you end up shooing away anyways.  A changeling could take our body and not be discovered for days or even weeks without trying!  I mean, it probably was just random chance, but there are a hundred different reasons why we're the perfect disguise.  A pony like us is the changeling's perfect weapon.

 

This struck a chord with the composer, and he visibly winced.  Then he chuckled.  "All this time," he muttered, "I thought that being asocial could never hurt anypony but myself."  Plagal sighed, and admitted, "Evidently, that is not the case."  After a few seconds of silence, he continued, "If I make it out of this, perhaps... perhaps it wouldn't hurt to open up to the other ponies.  Just a little..."  At this, his mind emanated a warm, fuzzy feeling of approval.  This gave Plagal a surge of courage, a reason that he had to make it through this.  He stood tall at the door in his ridiculous armor, awaiting the arrival of the bearers of the Elements.

pushing, bucking, biting and head butting nothimg worked against the toughness of the cocoons shell. Slumping against the side and breathing heavily and exclaiming, "I give up."

"You can't!" Were the firey words that responded.

"Well what am I suposed to do I've tried everything. Its no use."

"Try harder"

"Yea right." He noticed that his line was srill attached to her from feeding on her before and didn't bother to take it out if he did it would leave her weakened and Parcel couldn't handle that on top of everything. And then he felt it her fear he looked over at her and noticed that she was staring at something, something at the bottom of the cacoon. Something green and liquid and something that was rising up past their ankles.

Ponyville is under attack

 

 

"Canterlot is in lockdown and can't' spare any support at the moment. We are to either drive them out ourselves or dig in and defend this position until they arrive." Nexus looked between the two ponies with the one uncovered eye.

 

"I need to get into the hospital. I have a score to settle with a certain mind controlling changeling. Plus, if what happened in my mind is anything to go by, Parcel should be free from their control as well, and could be in trouble." Nexus clutched his head, as if his head was aching bad, and groaned in pain,

 

"Boon, or as you call him Parcel, is a traitor. He would aid the evil dictator Celestia destroy everything good in the world with her army of ponies. Kill them. Kill them all, and save Equestria!"

 

Nexus continued like this for a little longer until he was finally able to compose himself.

 

"Celestia-damn virus. The sooner we kill that thing, the sooner we can get it out of my head." Nexus spoke up finally. He imagined Parcel going through similar torture, but remembered it ultimately giving in. Nexus wouldn't turn that easy. 

 

"Why do you fight? Does it not hurt? Wouldn't it be so much easier to just let go? To give in, and let yourself become a part of something greater?"

 

"I suggest we have most everypony here guarding the town, while I lead a small strike force into the hospital. When I say small, I mean me and no more than two other ponies. Any bigger and we risk attracting attention. We go in quietly, through the basement, find Virus, and kill him. Once he is dead, that should throw the rest of the invasion force into disarray, and allow us to kill them no problem." The bat pony looked around, seeing the town peaceful, the citizens unaware of the horror that was occurring down the road. He remembered a similar setting before all hell broke loose, and he wouldn't let it happen again.

 

"So who should accompany me? I recommend the heavy hitters stay here and defend. If we do our jobs right, we won't be seen at all, so raw strength will not be needed."

From what I know, I doubt the changelings have managed to get it open, however some time has passed since I left the hospital so I can't say for sure. Fire look at the bat pony and said " Yes sir" Fire never was in the guards before but he well do his best. Fire walk out of the room and then the door open it was Twilight coming form out side. Fire was so happy to see her she look's like a little ruff up but she look's OK.

 

Fire run to her and he start to hug her. " Sorry Twilight I so happy you are all right" know this is the real Twilight not a changeling. He stop hugging her and look at her and ask " Now Princess Twilight what is your orders" Fire look at Twilight was not happy what is happing at all. Twilight look at and said " Where is Corkscrew I need him now" Fire was look at and said " I do not know is Corkscrew I thought I hard him but look like not here" Fire said to Twilight.

After Fire said he didn't not know Corkscrew was she look at all the ponies in the library. Looking at her wondering she is not a Changeling. She walk to all the ponies and said" Look  ponies I not a changeling if you have doubt me you can use magic at me I well use some kind of magic know other pony well do." Twilight said in here friendly ton.

 

A pony ask Fire to use magic at her if she is not the Princess the blast of magic well view it TruForm. Fire look at her she say " Use your magic do not hold back Fire I well be OK" She said with a smile. Fire use his magic at her all his magic at her and a blast of dust surround were he blast at. A minute the dust come down a Twilight was OK she use her Shield magic "Only Twilight can use that high level of magic. And do not hurt any ponies at She is the Princess Twilight". The pony said. All the ponies were so happy to see a Princess here. 

 

" Now all of you ponies are all ok If someone tell me were is Corkscrew Top emergency" Twilight said in a Royal ton.

"Woah, uhhh... I'll get Rainbow Dash here as fast as I can." He took the badge and rushed out the door. He didn't know Ponyville was under attack. He knew he was faster than the train so he just took flight. "Ohhh buuck, Ponyville under attack? I came here to live a calmer life. I didn't know something like this would happen." He said to himself. He flew as quickly as he could. Once he approached Canterlot he flapped his wings so hard some leaves and a few rocks flew. He ran up to the guard, showed the badge and asked him where Rainbow Dash was. Once he knew where she was, he rushed to her. He found her and said with a raised and tired tone, "Rainbow Dash, you gotta come back to Ponyville. Its an emergency."

This was Virus' chance he went in. Parcel ran up to them panting and gasping for air, "Nexus the hospital........barely made it out of there.......too many to take on.......need reinforcements.......we need to wait."

 

 

Meanwhile in the basement.....

 

The green goo was up to their waistes now and getting higher every second.

"This is bad this is very very bad."

What is it?" Asked the firey words.

"It's changeling blood it'll fill up this whole cacoon and drown us then transform our bodies into undead changelings."

"Very bad"

"Yes."

They both started pounding on the walls more desperate than ever to get out calling out for help.

"Sorry. I let my hatred for changeling put you in danger. Ironic since I end up bringing about the incursion of them by aiding one." He smirked, looking up.

 

"I..,think I am done with changeling hunting for a while once this is over. I have seen and done things in my travels that have scarred me deeply-literally and figuratively. I may return to Macintosh hills, see about restoring my long dead clan. Provided changeling haven't already set up shop. Or I may just settle here. I don't know, but I can't do any of that now. I think I am just going to head over to the hospital. We need all the defenders we can get, and I don't think I can bear to get anypony else hurt. Celestia knows I will never be able to make it up to the ponies in the hospital, suffering in more ways than one. I can enlist Parcels assistance once I locate him. Here's hoping I can do some good before I lose my mind to the infection."

"Sorry, Parcel, but Canterlot can't spare any reinforcements at the moment. But it's a good thing you got here when you did. You can come with me to the hospital. We are going to sneak in, find Virus, and put an end to this changeling incursion. I would offer you a weapon, but I think your offensive magic should suffice."

"That's great. At least some messages are getting through."

 

Corkscrew looked at the supplies.

 

"Wow, Caption Armor is living up to his name." he said with a chuckle. 

 

Corkscrew notices that armor that Nexis is wearing.

 

"Wow, where did you find that? It brings back so many memories of my training. Your father was the pony who told me I was going to be trained as a guard."

(I am going to say for continuity sake that this post takes place before thor's post. I feel as though that is a large enough concept to address)

 

Nexus turned to Corkscrew in surprise.

 

"Wait, you knew my father? He was a personal Guard to Celestia for 2 years. I think he said he was also aiding in recruit training in his down time." Nexus remembered the stories that he was told, the nights he spent captivated by the description of Celestia, and of the Guards in Canterlot. He missed those stories so much.

 

"Captain Armor sent me the armor he used in service to the Princess. This is supposedly the best armor a Guard can receive. I don't doubt it, considering the enhanced lightning enchantment, the spell on the patch and the effect it has on appearance." Nexus looked down at his gear, and felt proud to wear it. He took a closer look at the claws, and noticed on the right one his name, his mom's name, and his fathers name scratched into each claw. That brought a smile to his face. It didn't last long though.

Virus knew that the changelings were back at the hospital responing but the new changelings wouldn't be ready until morning hundreds of xhangelings taking over this town, taking over Equestria. Not only that but if they found the real Parcel giving away his cover and keeping him from being drowned he needed to think of something fast. "Look they have hostiges there are ponies in there and if we go in there with not enough armed forces we'll just end up more prisoners I mean do we even have a plan?"

 

Basement....

 

The goo was up to their necks now and they were exhausted, Parcel had completely given up and his eyelids were drooped sleepy. Luminari gave one last hit with her horn slumping down the side of the shell. Then she gasped and snapped up to face Parcel, "what."

The words appeared hastily "changeling" Parcel was confused, "what?" The unicorn was exasperated rolling her eyes she tried a different word "change" not completely understanding he changed showing his true form. As soon as he did so she grabbed the back of his head with both hooves and slammed his head downward, "aaaaaaaaaaaaah." His head was submerged in the blood and crooked horn met cacoon wall puncturing the shell and letting out the goo. But she wasn't done Luminari put one hoof on his forehead and pushed upwards creating a slit in the wall enough to let them both out and to let out all the blood. They fell out gasping and coughing, "you are crazy," he was looking up at the mare now really looking at her he noticed how cute she was cute at least by pony standards, "you-," she interupted him with her words "no time" and they made their way up the srairs.

Nexus put a hoof on its shoulder, trying to reassure it. 

 

"We do have a plan. We are going to go in quietly, sneak in through the hatch on the left side of the hospital, and make our way through. We mustn't alert the hive though, if we need to, we must take changelings out quickly and quietly. We may be heavily armed, but we can't fight an army.At least, not until we cut the serpants head off."

 

He began to walk towards the path leading to the hospital.

 

"You will only find misery and pain at the hospital. The ponies defeat in inevitable. You can stop their evil, with us. We can grant you your hearts desire. Everything you could ever want. Consider it your rewards for playing a role in the end of Celestia's tyranny."

 

Nexus continued walking, trying to force the voice out. All he was being told were lies, and he would have none of it. He turned for a moment.

 

"Coming Parcel?"

Virus smiled his disguise had worked and if things played out he wouldn't even need the army inside the hospital. If things played out the bat would take over this town all by himself.

"Oh yes coming!" He trotted after Nexus content with hisnnew findings.

 

Meanwhile in the hospital.....

 

Parcel peered out of the basement door checking to see that no changelings were around thankfully the hall was deserted and stepped out followed by Luminari. They began to walk down the deserted hallway Parcel turning to whisper, "if we can just make it out of the hospital we can get to Nexus and- oof!" He ran into somethinf hard and fell to the floor looking up he saw it was a changeling who looked at Parcel then Luminari before shifting it's form to Parcels and tackling him they tumbled around on the ground bfore seperating and standing up. "Get him!"

"No get HIM!"

"Luminari listen to me changelings have different wings and no matter if they change into other changelings their wings will stay the same please look closely you know what my wings look like."

She inspected both changelings and shot the second one with her horn. "You did it im so proud of you now let's get out of here."

The two walked in silence for awhile. Nexus finally spoke up.

 

"Parcel, I need to tell you something." He turned his head to face it as they walked.

 

"The infection that I contracted from you-the one that let Virus into my mind-it isn't gone. We may have forced Virus in his entirety out, but a part of him still resides in my mind, whispering. It is trying to take control of my mind, just like before. I am able to fight it off fairly well though. Maybe because it's only a fraction of it. But I have seen this...integration before. I may have strong resistance, but I won't be able to fight it off forever. If everything goes well, we will be in and out before that happens. But just in case it doesn't..." Nexus stopped, a deadly serious look on his face. He held a hoof claw to his throat, the lightning causing his fur to stand on end.

 

"If I begin to...turn, if I lose myself, I need you to promise me that you will do what needs to be done." He looked him in the eye, with a look that would give a dragon goosebumps.

 

"No hesitation, no slip ups. If I lose myself...you know what to do." With that, they continued. Eventually they reached the hospital, and Nexus snuck around to the side to find that hatch. It was locked with a padlock. One swipe from the claws broke the lock and they were in. Inside were a few pods with ponies lying unconscious in them, and one that looks cracked open, blood splattering all over.

 

"Ok Parcel, follow me and watch my back," He crept towards the stairs.

Virus cursed under his breath at the site of the broken cacoon the damn changeling didn't know when to die. No matter when the time came he would kill the nuesence himself, looking at Nexus he smiled he would just make his friend do it.

They turned a few corners before they heard a group of changelings coming towards them and they ducked into a nearby room. Inside it was empty and Parcel put his ear to the door listening to the outside Luminari going to the window. A word appeared in front of Parcels face, "Ah!" Parcel moved his head back surprized the word changed to "Sshh!" Before returning to the origional word "seal"

Lowering he said turning to face her, "what are you talking about there's no seals in- oh.."

The entire window was covered in the harded green material that was made to make cacoons. Running up to the window he exclaimed, "no no no no no no no no! This can't be happening they're all going to be like this we have to find another way out. C'mon let's go." They walked out of the room and turned to see down the hall 4 changelings looking right at them horns glowing ready to attack. "TAKE COVER!!"

Pinkie Pie

"Twilight," Pinkie Pie said popping her head into the library door, "That weird pegasus that hangs out with Celestia's brother is over by his house. He's acting kind of weird. Ohhhh is he playing a game? I love games!"

 

Pinkie looks out the library door and sees Corkscrew motioning for them to come over.

"Thank Celestia your safe. Once the others get here, I can tell you my plan. Pinkie, head on it, Rairity is all ready here.....Um you haven't seen Fluttershy yet, have you?....or Apple Jack?.......I sent one of the fastest flyers in town to retrieve Dashie from Canterlot."

 

Corkscrew looks in the direction for Fluttershy's cottage.

 

"I think we may have to go and get them. I'll go for Fluttershy if you go for Apple Jack. Pinkie, you can make your self at home..."

"Hia Mr. Plagal! You don't look so cranky today. Where'd the neato aromer come from? Is it Nightmare Night already? Let me guess, your going as Corkscrew!"

Dogboots felt depressed at the current situation. There was nothing the stallion could do with his current injuries and he knew he would only get in the way. The stallion limped towards a chair located near one of the windows. He sat down and looked out towards the hospital in the distance.

 

"If I can't help them, then at least I can get a front row seat," He thought to himself as he stared out the window.

Flashes of green light lit up the hallway striking the gurney (bed on wheels that doctors use) they were hiding behind, the changelings were close now and getting closer Parcel had to do something. He stood up shooting back his own offensive blast hitting two of the four and ducking back behind the gurney. "Look if anything happens when I say the word I want you to run no arguements I need you to do this i need you to stay alive when you get out you need to find a stuburn bat pony named Nexus and rell him that 'the eagle has landed in the pond and there's a bomb strapped to the eagle' he'll know what it means." She nodded and looked at him with worry in her eyes.

"Don't worry I'll be fine," he ruffled her hair with a hoof and stood up and sent a bombardment of blast which he got in return he got but the other got him first the blast grazed his arm sending him straight to the ground crying out in pain. In response Luminari stood up and sent her own spark of orange magic which sent the changeling flying backward. She kneeled down to Parcel showing the word "idiot" he chuckled and thanked her but she didn't hear him because she was too busy kissing him.

Nexus heard fighting break out in the hall, and quickly made his way to the sound. He saw 4 changelings facing away from him and Parcel, shooting at a few ponies who he couldn't identify.

 

"OK, looks like we got the jump on them. Follow my lead."

 

Nexus quietly approached the changeling farthest back, and with speed, stabbed his right claw into his back, while covering his mouth with the other. The commission covered the muffled cries as the lightning quickly fried its insides. Setting the body down, he was about to get the others, when he ducked into a room seeing a green blast come at them. The ponies must be returning fire. Two bodies hit the floor, and soon a third one was sent flying through the air. When the commotion died down, Nexus peeked out to see Parcel making out with a unicorn mare. It didn't look like he was feeding, as he was in his pony form. Nexus walked up to them, coughing to make his presence known.

 

"How did you get here Parcel, I thought you were-" Nexus turned to see Parcel behind him, like before, staring at the Parcel on the floor. Nexus looked between the two, and actually noticed that, while Floor Parcel had his regular rounded wings, Backup Parcel had more tattered wings. It didn't take a genius to figure it out.

 

"Ah crap." 

 

"And so the traitor stand before you, with a pathetic unicorn in tow. They just murdered three innocent changelings doing their duty. They do not deserve life, and so they must die."

 

"Buck off Virus, I'm not killing my friend. You can feed me all the lies you want, but you will never break me."
