Beat Shock's Parkour and Freerunning Thread!

Beat Shock

Recommended Posts

I've tried parkour and freerunning but I wasn't fit enough to actually do it. Currently trying to build up my core strength before I'm going to retry. Some may call it stupid and dangerous but knowing your limitations seriously reduces most of the risks. And besides that, I like feeling a thrill, the danger is just a free bonus wink.png

I've gotten a little into parkour. The thing is I dont have time and I'm too lazy. Another thing is I have to focus on my school casue my parents want me to get above a B.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've been working hard on some of the more advanced moves that I'm going to use in my next video. I learned this one just from a tutorial!

Yay! I was just about to make a parkour thread 'til I found this!

I do parkour, I don't do it all the time but I do it when I'm bored. Yesterday I did my first succsessful monkey vault (Yay me!) and I attempted to do a backflip but epically failed and landed flat on my spine. I haven't done parkour for while now because of that incident. I have a new hobby now (the forums).

We all have times when we get injured from trying something new, but the truly skilled and determined Freerunners and Traceurs don't let those incidences destroy their Parkour/Freerunning experience. There have been times when I've lost the nerve to do backflips because of one big fail, and I would cry in sadness because of all of my disappointment, but I just started at square one and relearned how to do everything I had thought I'd never do again. I did it with safety pads and careful training until I got the confidence to do it in the hard environment.

Don't let that one fail stop you from progressing, but try and learn how you can do it safer next time. If you do that for every move you learn, you'll become one of the advanced Freerunners in no time!

I just did this advanced move last Saturday, and I am extremely proud of myself because it took me a month to learn!

I've always had an interest in parkour. Of course I'm clumsy and do practically no physical activity whatsoever so I'd probably be about as good as the QWOP guy if I ever tried.

Has anyone here played Mirror's Edge? I recommend it.
