@@Dawn Stripes,

@,

((OOC: Huzzah! "Ok, NOW, things are gettin' good!" ~Vinny))

Steel didn't want to leave the Master Sergeant's side, but he was in his element, Steel didn't need to worry about him. The swordpony's first responsibility was the crew's safety.

Steel darted from the bunks to bulkheads. "IF YOU'RE NOT ON WEAPON DETAIL, GET TO THE SAFE AREA AND STRAP IN!" He urged ponies as the ship rolled and groaned in protest to the ocean around it. Whatever was going on, it was no rockslide, something was attacking them, Steel's fighting instincts screamed it. That, and the ponies rushing to the weapon bays.

"Help!" a somewhat cantankerous voice cried. "This 'ere crate a' veche-tables got mah leg!" Cookie, a chef from Dodge Junction, had his leg caught under several collapsed crates of lettuce. Steel rushed over and put his fore hooves under the crate on Cookie's right leg. He heaved with all his might, but the crate wouldn't budge. "Ah knew these was bad luck when ah ferst laid eyes on 'em!" The trapped earth pony complained.

Steel released and caught his breath, they were just too heavy. That's when Steel had to resort to more . . . creative measures.

Shiiiing

Steel's sword rung as he drew it.

"Aw yer gonna give me the trapped coyote treatment aren't ya?" Cookie dismayed. "Just do it quick!" He took the pan off his head, bit the handle and closed his eyes. Intent to take it like a man!

"Hold still, good sir." Steel cautioned as he brought his blade back. He aimed, and thrusted.

CLANG

The metal rang as it collided with the deck right next to Cookie's unharmed hoof. Steel pressed down against the hilt, using his sword as a lever to lift the crates. Cookie's leg was free, but he didn't move. He was still going Stonewall Jack.

"COOKIE, YOU'RE FREE!" Steel shouted as he felt his grip beginning to wane. The chef pony scrambled to freedom, bruised and with a wounded pride, but otherwise unharmed.

"You saved mah life! I owe you-" The ship rocked to the side and both ponies were knocked from their hooves.

"We'll stand on ceremony later, hurry!" Steel said as he helped Cookie back up and they both ran for it.

With a flipper flutter, she peered out the window that they sat beside, contemplating through her mouthful of food. "Yep," she chirped after she swallowed her artichoke. "It looks pretty empty, though. Not much lives this far down. I'll have to look really carefully if I want to find anything." An important-sounding announcement resounded in the cafeteria, and Cascade put her mostly-completed meal down to listen, only to fall out of her chair when the sub gave an almighty lurch, and a loud bang was heard.

Dox took another fall as the sub violently shook again. He stood up and wiped the blood from his cheek. He saw all the commotion and heard that he was to get to the escape pods. He ran down corridors, some dry, some filling with water, until he reached a pod. He climbed inside and searched for a first-aid kit to take care of his cuts... But that also mean't he'd have to take his eyepatch off... He hoped to Celestia that nopony needed to ride with him.

For a mare who was used to living on her own, Frostbite was a surprisingly heavy sleeper, it seemed.

The chaotic banging and frantic screaming didn't do much to wake her, but the sheer amount of growing noises eventually got to her, and she rolled out of bed with a thud, just in time to hear "ABANDON SHIP. GET TO THE ESCAPE PODS. GO GO GO. BATTLE CREW. HEAD FOR THE CAVE, WE'LL MEET YOU THERE. NOW MOVE."

There was no need to tell her twice, and she immediately grabbed a brush to sort out her mane at last. "First sharing a room, then late for dinner and now this? Can't a mare get any rest around here?" she grumbled as she slowly brushed her mane into it's normal position - in between being bashed around the ship, at least.

For a few moments, she contemplated grabbing Lila's things and taking them with her, but without levitation she wouldn't stand a--

"No, you're not here to look out for other ponies belongings, Frost...you're here to test yourself..." she argued with herself as water started to creep into the room. A look of worry crept on her face as she turned and picked up her things, before throwing Lila's as high as she could in the room, to keep them dry at least - she'd be along shortly anyway.

With that little show of decency, she bolted out of the door and turned down the corridor, having completely no idea where the lifeboats where, she followed the signs to the engine room - 'Ponies have been ordered down here...one of these will definitely know where they are' she calmed herself as she neared the top of the stairs.

@@Count Paradox,

Giant would have to target manually? Just lovely, he groaned to himself. There wasn't even anything out here, for all he knew, in fact, this was just a false alarm--

The entire scope screen filled with red.

"Gah! Fire torpedoes!"

The station officer looked bewildered. "Sir, which ones. And coordinates--"

"It doesn't matter just SHOOT! NOW!"

The sub made a squelching sound as all three torpedoes were released into the water, and shuddered as they detonated barely a few meters away. The bay was filled with clanging as sea-ponies rushed to reload the next round.

The sub shook like a can of Sparkle-Cola in a unicorn foal's grip. Giant held onto whatever was next to him to stay put. Had he even done any damage?

There was nothing for it. He had to get a look at this thing. Giant winced as he hit a switch, and the scope changed to show a view of the outside of the submarine in plain visual.

Luna shave him to regs with a butter-knife. What was THAT?

Giant ordered one more round of torpedoes fired, then the Defender shook, causing everypony in the bay to drop the ammunition they were holding and roll across the hold. A couple ponies had limbs trapped or mangled by the heavy equipment.

Giant started to understand the phrase 'cussing like a sailor' as he helped strap down what was loose just in time to hear about engine trouble and the order to evacuate. His veins turned to ice, but he moved as quickly as he could--once everypony down here was headed for escape pods, he bolted.

He had the route easily memorized, from every point on the ship, to the nearest escape pod. Leaving the nearest for the crew members he'd just evacuated, he headed to an upper level, where he saw that unicorn mare slowing at the top of the hallway, almost to the pods.

"Frostbite!" he shouted. "Come on! We're getting out of here!" He ran to the junction and pointed down the hallway; there was a pod with only one other pony sitting in it and looking worried, a bizarre black-and-white fellow with an eyepatch and a cut over one eye. "Frostbite, we need to go!"

It only seemed like a few moments for Moon to report to the bridge, then to head straight for the escape pods right afterward. But knowing that those were orders, she quickly took one last glimpse of the now cracked glass and bolted off.

She made a quick stop to her room to gather the saddlebag and her portrait which was on the floor. But Moon didn't have much time to see that the frame was broken before she rushed back out the door.

@@Count Paradox

Just a short distance before the escape pods though, the ship violently shook again which caused her to lose balance and smash her head against the side railing. Luckily only her head was bleeding, but her sight blurred for a scary moment or two before refocusing again.

Eventually she gave a great sigh as she climbed into one of the escape pods. One of her hooves were up to her head to try and surpress the bleeding as much as possible.

She didn't bother to look up when she boarded the escape pod, and sat down in one of the seats before noticing that there was already another pony in here.

It took her a good bit, but she noticed it was her roommate, Paradox again.

"Mhmm.. Hey."

Frostbite heard the shouts from Giant, and turned around to see him pointing at an escape pod..."How did..." she started to ask herself before the wall beside her erupted with ocean water. The puncture was more of a slash than a hole, and she briefly caught herself staring before she found herself tumbling down the stairs under a torrent of water. Landing in a heap at the bottom, she looked up angrily at the offending gash in the ship, before unleashing a potent torrent of magic.

There was a loud cracking sound, almost like somepony had just cut down an entire forest at once, as the water pouring in through the gap started to freeze - along with the water on the stairs. "Didn't think about that one did you Frost..." she cursed before realising she had trapped herself in ice "Uh, captain? Lil' help?" she shouted.

(OOC: I think the escape pods hold five. We're still good.)

Giant turned in time to see the wall explode, just as quickly frozen again. It took him a couple seconds for the adrenaline to bleed out of his extremities and to figure out the mare at the bottom of the stairwell was responsible for the ice. Woah.

But now she had her hooves stuck in it.

"I'm coming." Giant raced to the top of the stairs--just as he reached Frostbite, his hooves slipped on the impromptu rink, and he found himself on a quick trip to the bottom.

His forelegs were bruised when he finally came to a stop--he hoofed the stairs. They were too slick for him to even climb back up. "Can't you just unfreeze yourself?" he shouted.

There was a look of realisation on her face when Giant suggested the idea, followed by a brief flush of embarrassment before she turned her attention down to her hooves - "MY BRACES!" she screamed suddenly "I can't focus specific areas without them, they're enchanted to help my magic!" she yelled frantically as she struggled to raise her hooves from the ice. "If I unfreeze it, the entire thing goes and we go right the way down this metal deathtrap!"

Several deep breaths and frustrated grunts later, she managed to focus her strength enough to wriggle her front hooves free, then start chipping the ice around her back hooves.

Nightfall remembered about something, and leapt, teleporting to his room. He made it, gathered up his notes and bag hastily, and teleported back to where he remembered seeing an escape pod sign. But as he appeared, the wave came speeding through the hall.

"Always my luck!" He yelled, running off towards the escape pods, diving in one and finding himself hoping that Cascade would be fine.

Letting out a rather girly squeal at the sound of the gunfire, she stopped and looked back at Giant with a somewhat confused look on her face, then down at the ice around them both "Does it LOOK like I need jewellery to use magic?!" she shook her head and looked at the top of the stairs "just stay put, i'll be back" and she galloped off up the ice as if it wasn't even there. Taking a few twists and turns, jumping over the occasional collapsed door she eventually found herself at her room - the water now about a foot deep where she was standing. She stared momentarily at how quickly things had gone wrong, before snapping herself back to the matter at hoof and diving into the room, frantically searching for her bracelets.

Much to her relief, they where still on the floor - albeit sunken. Stepping into them as soon as she saw them, they clung to her legs as they did before and she began emanating her frosty glow once again. Banging her head on the table as she lifted back up, she wobbled for a second before she started sprinting back out, the shallower water forming a brittle icy layer over the top as she merely passed by.

Giant watched the mare race away and stolidly spun in circles, watching the world fall apart around him and occasionally giving guidance to a crewmember who passed in varying stages of panic. He figured the pod upstairs was about full, and just as well, because nopony was getting up there anyhow, so he sent them to port.

While waiting for Frostbite to return, he watched the ice worryingly. While she'd been around it had seemed very solid, but as the minutes passed, along with a growing concentration of worrying steam rising from the engine decks, the ice began to sweat, and then to shrink. Giant took a couple steps back as the mass against the breach on the wall began to shrink. When he could see the edges of the crack, and his hooves were wet, he heard galloping hoofsteps approaching.

"Okay!" he cried out, panicking. "I'm scared of water! I'm bucking TERRIFIED of water! Help! Get me OUT OF HERE PLEASE!"

Hearing Giant's panicked screams, she couldn't help but feel sorry for him, he'd gone down there to help her, now she needed to help him. The ice on the wall was about to give way, the water that was starting to force its way through was enough evidence of that.

Immediately, she blasted the wall once again with another magical beam, sealing it tight. "Sorry captain, you're gonna get wet" she shouted down the stairs as she focused her energy on melting the ice on the stairs, watching it all drip through the holes and run down the stairs.

She followed, naturally, and held out her hoof to reassure Giant things would be alright "You good?" she asked, quickly glancing back at the doorway checking for any other ponies or breaks in the wall.

Water splashed over over Giant's face, soaking his mane and dripped into his eyes. He closed them shut. Unfortunately, that only made it easier for him to imagine that the water was all around him, swallowing him, suffocating him...drowning.

He could hear the mare right next to him. His knees shook. "Escape pod..."  he stammered through gritted teeth, "up stairs...first left. Let's go." He took a step forward and wobbled. "You...first."

Frostbite frowned, she just couldn't understand this pony's fear of water. She shook her head and then hopped off up the stairs, waiting at the top and looking around for any signs of danger again. She could see a few ponies heading in the direction of the escape pods, but she didn't recognise any of them - probably just crew. "Follow my voice, one foot in front of the other, and step up! @,

(OOC: Nevermind, pod capacity is twelve)

"Nice to know," Giant muttered, quickly hoofing it up the stairs in the direction of the voice. He continued to follow, step by step, ignoring the screams, until he felt his hooves across the familiar rubber intersection between the escape pod doors and the sub.

With a sigh of relief, Giant collapsed into a dry if uncomfortable seat. But his work wasn't done. "How many?" he asked, opening his eyes long enough to see the ponies in here with him. "Four. We wait." Giant kept his hoof near the 'launch' lever for when the pod was filled to capacity.

He stared out at the chaos--sparks were flying as something outside jarred them again--calling out to the occasional pony rushing past. When a pair of technicians made it to the pod doors Giant yelled at them until they got to the threshold and ushered them inside. Six now.

"By the way," he said as conversationally as possible over the noise, "Not really a captain. More went the desk-job route in promotion to tell you the truth."

Frostbite followed Giant to the escape pod, making sure he was alright, then she sat down opposite him in the pod, next to a blue pegasus mare, who looked a little less than "with it" as she held her hoof to her head.

"But captain is such a good name for you" she replied sarcastically, but with a healthy laugh as she finished speaking. She looked around at the chaos ensuing in the sub, and leaned against the wall to her right, kicking off her bracelets again so as not to freeze the pod before the door was even closed.

Noticing Giant was a little shaken up still, and obviously trying to hide it with his conversational tone - why else would anypony try and hold a normal conversation in a time like this? She leant forward and put a hoof on his shoulder and gave him a hopefully reassuring smile. "Don't worry, thing's will be okay."

Not only was this mare a mite unpredictable mood-wise, she also had a very poor choice of words.

"Don't worry, things will be okay."

....

....

...

Don't worry, private! Everything's going to be okay!

Giant hrched as his chest lurched and his temple throbbed. Just barely keeping himself from curling into a ball on the floor, he reatreated to the farthest seat of the escape pod and closed his eyes, laying his muzzle down on the armrest.

"Watch the launch lever," he ordered tersely. "When there's twelve ponies in here, pull that and it'll close the doors."
