"Okay, I'll see you then!" Scamps called back. She got up from the table, and began justwalking. What should I do? Read a book? Paint a painting? Check out the pool? Definetly don't want to be alone though...might as well check on Airy.

 

She spotted Airy in the dining hall, and trotted over to him. She then sat in the seat next to him. "Hey," she started. "How's the past thirty minutes been?" She asked.

"Damn... I'm starting to not feel too good..." Firebolt thought, while wandering through the halls. "Hopefully, that's just anxiety... I'm not sure how to tell Windy what I want to tell him, exactly... But I shouldn't worry about it." As most ponies know, trying not to worry about something is how to get even more worked up over it. After a good few minutes of walking, Firebolt had already flustered herself to a ridiculous level. "Ugh... I'll just relax, then. I may as well see the pool. Just so I don't have to go there again..."

 

Firebolt eventually made her way to the pool, and lied back on one of the lawn-chairs. She didn't notice the fact that Windy was near-by... though that was probably for the best.

Laray gasped for air as she burst through the surface. She paddled weakly to the side and grabbed on. She scooted from the wall to the stairs slowly. She coughed up lots of water. She sat on the stairs with her head in her hooves. She had a severe headache. She heard a splash and a stallion dove in to help the pony who had helped her.

Laray stood wobbly and began to walk. She began to choke on water. Her headache exploded as her airway was blocked. She stumbled a few more steps and passed out.

Airy didn't care if anypony noticed that he was just sitting there staring through the room. He hadn't even gotten anything to eat for himself. All he was doing was watching Windy Scamper and Windy Runner...

...and a unicorn mare who didn't seem to be happy about what the two ponies were doing. But that wasn't actually interesting for him... as if anything was interesting right now.

Well, until the moment when Windy Scamper moved towards him.

Within a few seconds he set up his inner mask to hide his bad feelings. "Oh, hi again. Nothing much here. I still don't understand how I was able to fall asleep on the top deck yesterday."

Yesterday... There was one thing he just needed to ask.

"Er... yesterday during the fireworks there was something I wanted to tell you... I'm not sure if you understood me, did you?"

"Listen, I need to tell you something about Bolt. Yesterday night she-" He got cut off after seeing Laray had emerged from the water though she was swimming very weakly. "I'm sorry...I gotta take care of this." He said leaving the pegasi and rushing towards Laray's side. The stallion checked for a pulse. "We have to do CPR don't we? eeyup. Well, this will get awkward." He thought before beginning. He quickly began to perform CPR on the passed out mare.

"But, I'm sure I could hear it now. I still have a half hour to kill." She added. That's right, before Windy showed up, he said he needed to tell me something important. I guess I looked close enough to be able to hear. Oh well. I'll just hear it noe!

Laray was having a dream.

'It's a dream, alrighty. I must've never truly gotten on that cruise and met the most amazing stallion ever. Wait, I drowned, didn't I? What an awful dream,' Laray thought.

Her head began to feel a little better. Her vision slowly began to return.

'See? I'm in my bedroom,' Laray thought. 'Why does my mouth feel weird?'

Laray's vision returned completely and she realized that Dogboots was giving her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Airy nodded. "Actually I was just being curious if you heard it. Right now I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to tell you. It's just that..."

There again he had his chance - and it possibly was the most unfortunate moment for that.

Hey, what are you waiting for? You only win if you try.

But if she gets me wrong, everything will be lost...

And if you don't ask at all, you will lose definitely. This way you at least have a chance to win her.

 

"Oh, sorry, got distracted... Well, the thing I wanted to say has become a little more difficult yesterday...

Okay, let me explain. The last thing I want is that anything between Windy Runner and you goes wrong, so please don't get me wrong now...

Oh, don't be silly. You managed to jump off a cloud after you lost your wings, how much harder can that be?

Airy hardly could hear himself speak. It felt like he was watching and listening from a hundred meters away.

He had said it.

He had taken his cance - but would the chance also take him?

That was up to the mare he was talking to...

Shaking his head to clear the water from his ears, Windy frowned.

 

"So Mr. Rich-hater has some dirt on Bolt? This is almost too good to be true! Oh, wait, he's helping somepony! Wow, he's really going at it there with that CPR! Mental Note: learn CPR... But only use it on mares! Whatever, this will all sort itself out after he saves that mare." 

 

Swimming over to where Dogboots was doing CPR on the mare, Windy raised his eyebrows.

 

"Wow! You saved her man! That's pretty damn heroic! Not to be a bother, but do you think at some point you could tell me whatever it was you were gonna tell me, you know, about Bolt? I'd really be interested in hearing it sometime...."

 

"You can count on that..."

And Scamps, being the niave filly she was, completely misinterrpurted that.

 

"I...that's really nice and all, but why did you tell me that? I mean, you'd have to like me, or else we wouldn't be friends, silly!" She chuckled a bit. "So, thanks for that Airy. But really, was it that important? I knew you liked me all along! What are friends for in the first place if they don't like each other?"

Airy was a little confused by Windy Scamper's answer. It just included too much "of course" and similar things.

She did get me wrong... in a different way than I expected. But maybe that's not so bad...

 

"So we really are... friends? That's so nice from you to say. Er... do you have some free time today? Maybe we could hang out, go swimming or so. Or... do you like classical music?"

"Sure! I mean, I already promised to meet up with Windy Runner after he's done working out,but I'm free after dinner! And...classical music? I don't listen to it much, but I do like some pieces."

 

Stallion, my schedule is packed, considering I'm on a cruise. At least it's pacjed with fun things, instead of paper work and boring-ness.

In the very moment when Windy Scamper mentioned Windy Runner a very careful observer might have noticed a little bit of reaction to that name. It wasn't like Airy hated that stallion or so, it just was that...

...that Windy Scamper seemed to like him more than just "like". Well, he was a healthy, strong and athletic stallion, unlike this crippled, slow and anything but assertive one Airy was...

"Oh, okay. Well, where would you like to meet me after dinner? Or shall we just meet at dinner itself?"

"I'll be right back." He said to Laray in a comforting tone before pulling Windy to the side.

 

"Listen, I don't know if you know this but Bolt isn't what you think she is. Yesterday night when we were talking at the Bar. I had asked her how her date was going with you and if I remember correctly she responded, "calling something like that a date is a jest, surely?". Now I don't know how you take that, but I wouldn't trust Bolt if I were you." He said warning the pegasi. "Listen, I got to get back to Laray. I'll see you around"

 

"Are you alright?" He asked worryingly to Laray.

"So Bolt told Dogboots that she and I weren't on a date last night? Well, that isn't exactly a shocker... But she said that considering me a date must have been a jest?! Sheesh, she thinks I'm THAT undesirable?"

 

Shaking his head in surprise and frustration, Windy dove back into his lane and continued swimming, along with brooding.

 

"I can't believe her! She's impossible! She's unbelievable! Windy, stop. What, brain? If you're fussing this much over such a meaningless comment she said about you, what does that say? If you're worrying this much about her opinion of you, you obviously still like her! No I don't brain! Don't put words in my mouth, er, brain! Look, Windy, if you really didn't care about her, you wouldn't be thinking about her, and would be getting ready for hanging out with Scamps! Yeah, I guess you're right..."

 

Having finished his laps, Windy pulled himself out of the pool, dripping wet and panting from the exertion. As he looked around the pool area, he spotted somepony who made his eyes narrow slightly. "Sheesh, is she following me?? Well, I guess this is as good a time as any to clear the air with her... Best to do it in a public place, at any rate."

 

Walking over to where Bolt was relaxing in a chair, Windy stood so that his shadow was blocking the sun from her face. "Why hello Bolt, fancy seeing you here." Windy said in a falsely upbeat tone.  "So you had said you needed to tell me something before? Now's as good a time as any, since I have some free time before Scamps shows up to hang out. What had you wanted to tell me?"

"Yeah, I think," Laray gasped. "Is it possible that I could owe you anymore?"

She sat up. Her side seared in pain and her head spun, so she fell forwards into her hooves.

"Urgh, my head feels like pudding," she muttered. "I can't see straight."

Trollsie strolled in.

"Mistress?" she suddenly became alarmed. "What happened?"

"I think I drowned..." Laray massaged her temples. "It's all really vague...I dove under and got caught in some sort of wire. I nearly died, but somepony dove in and pushed me out." Laray chuckled. "I practically owe everypony my life here. *hic*" Laray's hiccups started again due to lack of oxygen. "I climbed out *hic* and Dogboots here saved me *hic* again."

"Maybe you should take a little break..." Trollsie suggested.

Laray nodded, then cringed when her head thundered. She looked up at Dogboots slowly.

"Meet you *hic* in the Dining Hall *hic* around five? I have a *hic* feeling that Trollsie here thinks I need a long 'break.' Is that *hic* alright? *hic*" Laray asked.

Firebolt gasped softly, taken by surprise that Windy was here... She wasn't expecting that. "Ah... Sorry... I wasn't really expecting you here..." She said, standing up to face Windy. She was still looking up slightly to make eye contact, since she was quite shorter then Windy. "Well, since I've already apologized... I suppose I'll just cut to the chase..." She began, trying to not let Windy say anything while she was talking. She wasn't really aware of what her body language was like, though. Instead of being big and assertive like she had wished for, the mare was in a smaller position, with her ears flopped back and no longer making eye contact. She also moved one of her front hooves around nervously. However, her voice was still at it's norm.

 

"Ah... Well..." Firebolt took a deep breath. Telling the complete truth was not something she did as often as she should. "Well, the reason I had been avoiding you yesterday... is because I do like you. I suppose that doesn't make sense... But, basically I felt that we were rushing into a relationship too quickly... I mean, the quicker you get into something the quicker you get out... If you understand... Sorry that I came off as..." The unicorn stopped talking. Her mind was completely silent, apart from telling her what to do next. "Well, I suppose you have no intent of talking to me. I'll go..."

"Y-yeah that's fine. I'll see you then." He smiled at the mare while waving. "Well, at least she's safe...what? You like her don't you? Uhhh n-no I don't. Yes you do. Okay I do. So you going to tell her how you feel then? Eventually I will. How bout at Dinner?" The stallion shook his head at the thought but it had been a recurring thought.

After Laray had left, Dogboots caught sight of Nightraxx and he was with Sorrow. The earth pony approached the duo hoping that he wasn't going to scare Sorrow. "Hey, is everything alright?" Dogboots asked the stallion.

"Hold on, Bolt, wait!" Windy said, sticking out a hoof to prevent her from running off. 

 

"Wow. That was... Unexpected... Yeah, didn't see that one coming... At all... Think she meant it? Yeah, I think she meant it Windy! Her body language, the way she delivered it, I think she's... sincere! YES!!!! Ok, that's great Windy, but you should probably say something before she runs off!"

 

"Wow. Bolt, I, I had no idea... I mean, I rarely have any idea with mares, but this was worse than usual! Although I do understand about not wanting to rush into things too quickly... But I didn't even think you liked me! Like, at all!" Windy paused, trying to gather his thoughts, as a blush began creeping into his face as he struggled to keep his cool. "Look, if you want to, we could, you know, hang out now? We could go see a movie, or take a walk together, or... something?" Windy finished lamely, trying to sound confident and failing astronomically.

 

"Whoops, sure hope Scamps doesn't mind being ditched..."

"See? Being truthful does work. In moderation, like anything. But we should try that more often, me." Firebolt thought to herself before turning back to Windy and smiling. "Thank you for understanding, and I'd love to!" Firebolt's voice was slightly overly chipper, but she would let that slide for once.

"YES!!" Windy crowed in joy, pumping his hooves in the air... Before realizing that Bolt was still standing right next to him. "Er... Hehe, sorry, got a little carried away there... But anyways, so what would you like to do now? Movie? Grab some food? Go rock climbing on the indoor wall? Just continue chilling here at the pool? Hit the sauna? Its totally up to you Bolt, I'm all yours for the day!" Windy said, barely keeping a lid on his extreme excitement that was so strong it was practically making him vibrate on the spot.

Firebolt tilted her head to the side a bit. The excitement was... unexpected. Appreciated, but unexpected. She kept smiling, though. "Uhm... Well, I don't really care. Is there any place you want to go though? You can feel free to keep swimming, if you like." The nice personality she was holding was quite deviate from her general sarcastic personality. But it seemed most effective right now. "Let's just hope he doesn't ask me to join him swimming..." She thought, not being too fond of the sport.

"Okay..." Laray stood with Trollsie's help. They began to walk silently through the halls. They reached her room swiftly and entered. Trollsie helped Laray out of her soaked swimsuit and hung it up to dry over the shower. Laray rested on the bed as she waited for Trollsie to get her some medication.

"What do you think of Dogboots?" Laray asked weakly.

"I think that you two make a fine couple. You with your bad luck and him with his heroics. You'll be saved everytime!" Trollsie replied from in the bathroom. Laray turned a deep scarlet. Trollsie brought her her medicine and she gulped them down. She snuggled into the sheets further and chose a comfortable position.

"I'll set your alarm clock for 4:30," Trollsie offered.

"Thanks, Trolls...you really...are...the....best..." Laray dozed off.

"Well... I mean, I already have been swimming for a while, and I'm not a huge fan of it, it just is excellent cross training. Honestly, I'd love to go watch a movie, but again, that's just me. What do you think?"

 

"Good Windy, good! We can't stick around the pool area, because if Scamps sees you leaving with Bolt when you were supposed to spend the day with her... Well, things could get... awkward."

"Oh... Alright." Firebolt said, brushing a bit of her mane out of her eyes. "That sounds fun!" Her voice was still a bit overly chipper. "Ugh... neutral voice Bolt. Neutral is literally the best thing. Except for something like fire, of course. Fire is nice." She thought. Firebolt's mind had been incredibly more active then usual. She wasn't exactly sure if she liked that. "Oh! I have to go work on something later, as well..." She added quickly, returning to her normal voice.
