I was about to say the same thing to you actually! We're in Harmony! The cream of the crop! It's only those who had their shot but chose to cheat like Peach Tree (or Fontaine) that don't deserve to be here! 

I'm thinking that the plant takes root inside the host to process POX, and the conditioning is the same as in the original story.

 

Also, a friendly reminder to anyone who might be a bit rusty with Bioshock's backstory, the Big Brother program is still in its first stages. The little filles won't be gathering from corpses until the war starts, and there are only Alpha Series big brothers for now, the Bouncers and Rosies won't be created until the hostilities start and the fillies have to suck POX from corpses in the middle of all the fighting.

 

I am aware of this. I just wanted to sneak them into my post to give them some established presence before things get ugly.

Teneighbaum probably won't be interacting with the others until a bit later in the story, so I'll focus on introducing her and the little fillies for now. I'm going to break down her story in several posts to avoid a massive wall of text and keep the story flowing back and forth between her had the others.

I love it! A fitting contrast. Here I am ravishing in my (apparently massive) fame and success upstairs, and here Ziska is in the belly of the beast. The thing is, both that Steel and me  Steel aren't lying. I genuinely believe in Rapture/Harmony that is to say I believe in the Free-market system. Andrew Ryan was a hypocrite who nationalized several industries in Rapture, as well as censoring Bibles. You can't have your cake and eat it too. All being free even extends to being free to do what you don't like or disagree with as well.

 

So this makes Harmony's eventual collapse truly tragic. Why why did I give myself a love interest?!

I didn't even have the damn things drawn! Although, as anyone who has even basic knowledge of swordplay can tell you, that doesn't mean you're safe. Still, I'm trusting Marble didn't know that. (Maybe you didn't even know it. Not saying you didn't though!) Still I can't help but feel a bit insulted. I am NOT of the school of thought that might makes right! My cutie-mark is two parts for a reason, I am an excellent speaker and I try to make that come across when I roleplay.

Respecting others' freedom requires a level of compassion and caring that is incompatible with a competitive environnement.

Free-market economy is a form of warfare, it may be bloodless and sanitized, but its motives and goals are exactly the same, Rapture was doomed from the start.

 

I actually have pity and sympathy for Sofia Lamb. As misguided and blind as she was, she had the potential to do good. I was glad when I got the ending in Bioshock 2 where Eleanor saves her life. I like the idea that she deserves a second chance, and deserves to be helped and treated with compassion.

But for Ryan, well, to quote Dr. Suchong: "Ryan can go suck egg".

(I'm kidding of course, even if I hate someone and disagree with them, I still have a duty to treat them with compassion and help them rather than let them suffer.)

Your OC/PC can do the political dance, but I'm not going to have this turn into "Rapture was doomed from the start" vs. "No, Ryan screwed it up". We're not doing that. Not here. Please.

I guess I have to apologize, because I brought it up in the first place. In my defense though, it's pretty unavoidable considering the setting. Rapture is a societal political experiment based on one of the most divding issues of modern society. Part of what makes Bioshock great is that it turns these various philosophies almost into a mythology, while adding it's own unique "gods & monsters." Yet through all that, it never actually says "X is wrong, and Y is right."

The general theme of the franchise is that any ideology, any goal or idea, can become harmful and corrupted when applied unwisely and taken to the extreme.

Hey if it helps at all I just made my first post a little while ago. Besides they haven't done anything significant yet. They are just talking to each other and discussing how they met their special somepony.
