hello so I have not been for long in this fandom so I try to learn about the history of the things that happened before I joined...So I did some researces and found out that Some One named Yamino was send Death Threats!! Only because she did not like Derpy. Okay so really? I am sorry but I think ifanyone that sends death threats to someone who only has a opinion Then the person who sended the threats loses all treats of being a human being, I mean dint we learn That everyone is different? I dont even know what to think right now. How do you feel about that?

Yeah this fandom used to be loving, and accepting of people. I mean some of the people in it still are, and are actually sane. I mean look at Fluttershy's fans, I've said before on a website, that I did not like Fluttershy, and I got attacked for it, by a bunch of bronies. It's ridiculous what this fandom has turned into.

Frankly, such conduct is never acceptable. I've seen numerous examples of similar situations, and every single one was disgusting and unjustified. The worst scenario I've seen is an instance of a person receiving threats from people in the real world over something harmless he shared on the internet, but the other examples are equally wrong.

 

Less importantly, not to be rude or anything, but you really should pay more attention to spelling and grammar, especially if you're starting a topic. It just helps make the whole site easier to use when people make sure that posts are easily readable, and I'm sure it makes it easier on mods as well.

Less and less bronies are abiding by the Love and Tolerate mindset that we've always had nowadays. I may be new to the fandom, but I try very hard, personally, to abide by the old Brony Code as much as I can. You know, to love and tolerate. But it's disappointing that the Code seems to be diminishing in significance. 

 

I mean, I didn't know about this death threat. But I've certainly seen proof of the ... Ah... degeneration of the old brony mentality. Like, in one of his videos, BronyCurious mentioned that a Fluttershy fan threatened to punch him in the face for saying he didn't like Fluttershy much, and for calling her a Cheesy Gordita. Personally, I somewhat agree with that opinion. His explanation that while, the cheesy gordita is the worst item on the Taco Bell menu while still being pretty tasty was a good one, in my opinion, and I happen to agree. But threatening him for expressing his  opinion? That's just not the brony way.

 

Same goes for the thing with Yamino. Bronies aren't really being true to the fandom's morals anymore.

 

Am I the only one who finds it funny when a Fluttershy fan threatens someone for not liking Fluttershy? It's pretty ironic.

I'm a fan of all of the ponies on the show, but Rainbow Dash is my #1. But, for me, this doesn't mean that I go bashing on others trying to say that RD is the best pony. Everyone, is entitled to their own opinion. Despite the different ponies and personalities in the show, we can still be a loving, caring, accepting group and still have our own opinions about others, without belittling others. 

 

This is why the brony community has been frowned upon, it's not that we only accept certain people, it's that when we become so fixated on one part, or character of the show, our minds immediately lock in to that character or part. This is where all of the heated arguments and debates occur. If we can just realize that we become fixated to these things and correct ourselves when we start to argue for just about a character like FS versus RD and other stuff, then we will resume our positive role models.

well thats only because the mods here try all what they can to stop shitstorms before they even accure. but on other sites theres alot of shitstorms

That may be true, but you have to keep in mind that rude and obnoxious people are usually the loudest in a group. That's doesn't mean that a larger section of bronies are like that, only that the ones that are tend to be VERY vocal about it.

I can tell that a person would go that far just to send death threats because, of a person that doesn't like a certain pony. No wonder we have the Freedom of Speech, we are all entitled to our opinions. But death threats, that is just sad in a lot of bad ways. But, a lot of people have been neglecting the ''Love and Tolerate'' code while others abide by the code. It happens a lot.

 

But it is a good thing we have staff that can contain something that can get out of hand.

There's stuff like this in all fandoms, an extreme, vocal minority. Just a fact of life. Don't let it taint your opinion of the whole fandom as if it was the zeitgeist. Treat this like the isolated incident it is.

As much you would want to say to them to love and tolerate, not everypony is going to act the same way no matter what you say. And as much as the show enforces it, at the end of the day (and I dread saying this) it's just a TV show that's open to be thought of in whatever way that's wanted.

 

So people will act how ever they act. It's just bastards that send hate who are doing what they do best.

The people sending death threats to Yamino (or anyone else in the fandom for that matter) are far and few, and this kind of thing would happen in any fandom if someone like Yamino came into play. To be fair, the hate for Yamino is well-justified and goes far beyond her just disapproving of Derpy. She is a downright shitty person who only hurts the very people she is claiming to defend, and shoots those people down when they provide legitimate, logical arguments against her.

 

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Every group of people is going to have its unfavorable bunch, but those people should have minimal, if any influence on your view and preception of the group as a whole. Most people in the fandom aren't problematic at all and the pepole that do things like this aren't even serious about what they say.

I am calling bullshit on this, as much as I may dislike and even detest the people who complained about Derpy and as much as I will admit that the issue does bring out a bit of my nasty side I never sent anyone a death threat about it, never will because I along with most other Derpy fans aren't stupid and short sighted enough to do something like that. I am not excusing the people who did at all, but at the same time I fail to see why I should apologize for what a handful of crazies did that I had nothing to do with. I am trying as best as I can to keep my nasty side at bay on this though because as much as I wish I could tell the Derpy haters to go straight to hell I have learned that the only way to win this battle of ideas is to try not to stoop to that level.

I think that in order for me to form an opinion on what you're saying, it has to make some sense. Seriously, this post is what I'd expect if I called a customer service clinic outsourced to India.

did you even read my post? I did not say I was the one who got the death threats, but it was Yamino. She got them before I even joined the fandom and I just heard and wanted to know what bronies felt about it. Also theres a song Yeliing At Cats Mad cussing her and calling her a tranny...I mean I get not liking her but attacking her for something like being a tranny is againts all brony codes

I have never seen a death threat from one brony to another, but this may be mostly due to me sticking to this form, which for the most part seems full of great people.

 

Some people do infact take it to seriously I'm sure, I just don't personally witness it really.

 

I find that atleast within these forums most of the people here are pretty nice to each other regardless of opinions.

 

I guess with a fandom this large we can't all be great though, death threats over a TV show is dumb really though. I hope that doesn't come around to the forums here. 

 

I personally accept all the ponies pretty equally, and while I like Fluttershy a bit more then the others, I won't death threat someone for not liking her. Thats stupid.

 

Anyways, I think if all the bronies acted like the majority of people here we'd be pretty well off as a whole.

She is the single loud, possible reason that Derpy was ever in jeopardy of changing/being changed/being removed despite what the PR will tell us.

 

What IS told to us is that when that episode aired they received loads (around hundreds) of positive e-mails but very very few negative ones...and it's BECAUSE of those negative e-mails that they now have to refer to Derpy as "Other Pony", "Best Pony", "That One Pony", and "Special Pony" whenever she's brought up in merchandise or official sales.

 

So you know what? With the way how Yamino not only handled Derpy being revealed, but how the fans didn't like her being loud about it: this is the ONLY time I say she deserves it. I honestly could not care less or could even be bothered to practice "love and tolerance" because she didn't do it in the first place.

 

I feel she took the biggest, worst step in thinking Derpy was in any way a representation (or apprehensible even) about retarded or mentally handicapped people. You have TWO SEASONS up to this episode's debut to have complained about the Looney Tunes-esque slapstick or possible other tropes you could have picked up....but no: the one thing she chose was Derpy and because of that *BAM* Derpy is now no more as appreciated in the show anymore.

 

And I have refused to step down from this opinion since the incident happened.
