Why are the EG haters being oppressed

Me and my friend...Who I might add you I wasn't arguing with. I just simply told him I didn't like the EG trailer and I am also not going to like the movie because of it's horrendous premise. 

Pretty much I just want to know why the defenders of EG are so dam defensive. No one on the MLP forums is acting like this. But my FB friends and people on Equestria Daily are really pissed

Oh I don't know, maybe because how blunt and rude a lot of it comes off as? There's being against something, i.e 'I really don't like the looks of this. I'm not going to get my hopes up, frankly. If others would like to support it fine, but I'm not', and then there's 'This sucks, plot is fucking horrible, oh god it's going to crash and burn.'

If you disagree with something, try to be pleasant about it. That way the people who think the movie will be good won't bash your opinion about it. I noticed you have multiple swear words so that may be a reason. Most people don't respond well to profanity.

 

I for one won't expect too much out of EQG , but i highly respect everyone else s opinion about it.

Basically somewhat what CD said, it depends on the tone of it, and if the tone is a certain way, then people get more defensive about it.

 

I don't know if its really oppression  I'm totally fine with you not watching it, long as you don't get really angry about the whole ordeal like some of the bronies who are threatening to quit because of it.

Its because people can't take any disappointment anymore.  In my opinion, we got to get out there and let Hasbro and others know what we don't like or approve of.  (Its worth a try really)  Some people are just out there to shut you up;  its too hard for them to question EG at all.

 

There are two types of these people:

1.)  The type that actually thinks EG will be quality.  (IMO The 20%)

2.)  The more prominent type in which they know that EG won't be good, but they choose to live a lie.  (IMO The 80%)

The pony fandom seems to be oversensitive to me. I can understand why people are rebuking those who are saying stuff like "This is stupid I hate it" or "This is going to ruin MLP" or whatever. It's not even released yet, so you can't say that just yet.

 

However, it seems you guys are only that way about ponies. Anything else that other bronies hate on, like furries or Littlest Pet Shop, for example, you just seem to back each other up and continue hating.

 

I guess what I'm saying is that bronies seem to think that as long as you're not hating on anything pony-related, it's fine (especially if it has any similarities to MLP [LPS, for example]).

Meghan also said that EqG will not affect season 4. I am pretty sure that what she means by that is that season 4 will not feature the human high school ponies. We know nothing about season 4 anyways so no reason to worry about what you don't know.

You know I can accept many things in life. But like the Star Wars prequels. The unfortunate truth about EG is that it's here to stay forever....It will be around after we're long dead. It will never go away, it can never be undone.

Well for one thing, you're being rude to your friend. If you want someone to respect your opinion, show respect for theirs, too. He said he didn't want to talk about it. You should have dropped it there.

 

And we know now that EQ won't affect the show. Meghan confirmed that. So there's no need to worry about it.

 

And FYI, I don't think EQ is going to be good either. I think it's a terrible idea. But I respect those that are excited about it. AND I am going to see it. Because it deserves a chance. And if nothing else, if I'm going to say something's bad, I ought to be educated on the subject.

Oppressed is a strong word. Anti-EG people are hardly being 'oppressed'.

It's simply that those of us who are interested in EG do not understand what all the negativity is about. It's been said before, but I'll say it once more:

Why are people who supposedly adopted the show MLP FiM and it's teachings - people who chose to defy normality and try something new - so biasedly against EG, automatically believing it to be terrible? Despite the controversy, we all chose to go ahead and try out this whole 'pony' thing. Why should EG be any different? Why must it suddenly be hated and bashed on by people who themselves are part of a group regularily under fire?

It's a hypocritical notion to defend your interest in a show, but then discard anything vaguely similar, simply because it is somewhat different. It's no wonder people believe we're complete fools. We don't exactly make a good name for ourselves.
