your reaction to DHX staff getting death threats

I will just say right now. These people on 4 chan and even all over the brony community who are making these threats are pissing me off. This thread will be closed most likely. But I want to throw this into the air. I am defending people like myself. Who are being labeled loonies. Look I think the trailer is dog **** I know the movie is not going to be good. But I just want to say, this fandom is shooting itself in the foot. These fools who made the threats are giving people like me a bad name. This is my last effective post on this subject. After this, I'm going back to talking about the show. Then I will see the movie and come to a conclusion. Tell me how these threats have affected you.

Absolutely shameful. Regardless of how one feels about Equestria Girls (and there are loads of legitimate concerns about it), there is no excuse for doing anything on that scale. I couldn't believe it when I heard about it.

Really? Death threats? Over a family show? Come on people. If you don't like the movie don't watch it. It's already been confirmed that it won't have any impact on MLP: FIM  Just ignore it. After it goes through theaters all the publisity will die down and we probably won't hear about it ever again. This is but a minor hiccup, and will soon pass.

I don't like the look of Equestria Girls either, but sending death threats to DHX? That really does highlight the stupidity of people. 
It really just makes the rest of us look bad, and gives another reason for haters to hate. 

But then again, this kind of reaction is almost expected. There have been countless death threats to people for ridiculous reasons over the years. People sent death threats to Platinum Games when they announced that Bayonetta 2 would be a Wii U exclusive.

1. Anyone who threatens/blames the people working hard to try and make EQG good is an idiot. Studio DHX is clearly making the best of a bad situation.

 

2. Hasbro is still a good company. EQG is a horrible idea and it's going to suck, but let's take a deep breath and remember FiM wouldn't exist if it wasn't for them. They hired Faust and had her design a show that wasn't crap. Now they want to try a quick cash-grab, and that's their right. They're allowed to make money.

 

3. If you find yourself seriously willing to hurt/kill someone over a fucking movie spin-off then get professional help. You're crazy. Nobody's forcing you to watch EQG. Asides from being outright disgusted by it? Shocked, horrified and embarrassed by the fandom. The fact that there are people in the community who are willing to go to such extreme lengths to voice and opinion is absurd. 

 

Sure, not all of us aren't enthralled by Equestria Girls but who cares? In fact the people that did this do not even have the right anymore to be a part of the community and deserve to be shunned by everybody. The reaction to EG has been questionable at least but this is just ridiculous.

 

I just hope those effected by this are not too hurt and that we as a fandom don't receive a backlash from this.

They haven't affected me at all, so a couple of nutjobs are hurling threats it is not a good thing I am going to agree on that but throwing a fit over it is not going to solve anything. Most of them aren't even being serious anyway, don't get me wrong death threats should be taken seriously whether the threats are serious or not but still. I think we would be better served focusing on the positive than on the few crazies that do things like this.

I dont know how anyone can even cast judgement on EQG when nobody has seen more then 1 minuet of footage and we know very little about the story line. People are saying its going to be a typical High school drama with a love interest, How do you know that? This was written by Megan McCarthy

so its safe to assume that it isnt a typical high school drama and may actually be quite good. People need to stop making blind assumptions and being so fucking stupid.

Disgusted - even if they aren't being serious, death threats are no way to pay back the creators of the show! We're getting a movie, and people are complaining? Sure, it might turn out to suck, but who knows? Maybe it'll be good. 

 

Other than that, this sort of thing is why people hate bronies. Some fans are just too overzealous to the point of freaking out whenever one of the creators so much as blinks. What's worse, they're overreacting in a very negative way when they don't even know what EQG will be like. Ugh, I shouldn't be letting them get to me, but dammit this is embarrassing. They're going to turn the creators against us if they keep being stupid...

The fact that the possibility of violent messages were sent disgusted me. Equestria Girls, from the get-go, has had very poor quality control, and I've been royally disappointed in both Hasbro and DHX for not promoting it at its best and for not developing such a stupid concept to its fullest potential. But regardless of your feelings towards it, there is no excuse to Tweet or e-mail violent messages, either in the form of a death threat or posting a picture of someone pointing a pistol, to those who were working on it. Just because you're on the Internet doesn't absolve you from self-control or self-responsibilities online, and the ones who sent those out-of-line messages need to comprehend that.

I'm gonna make this short. For one do we have proof that they are being sent death threats, and two do we have proof that these are legit bronies or are they a pile of opportunistic trolls trying to stir the pot of hatred between bronies and DHX. Seriously, I know that we have some dark people in our community here, and I know that most of would never dream of doing something like this. Though we have to consider that even if this is true, the people shouting death threats are obviously in the minority.

Of course I find it horrifying that they are receiving death threats. At the same time I realize this is the work of only a handful of extremist elements, and 99.999% of our community is still good people, so this doesn't change my opinion of the community at all. It's just a shame that the 0.001% are getting all the spotlight lately and dragging the rest of us down, it seems.

 

Another possibility is that these are anti-bronies trying to seize the moment and strike a blow at our fandom. In fact, I'm almost certain more than a few of those sending threats probably are.

I am not the least bit surprised, while it is possible that some of these may be real I really think this is yet another one of the many reasons why I think we should stop giving people who make these threats so much attention. It just seems like it encourages it far more than discourages it, trolls like attention and there are few ways to do it more quickly than with death threats.

Come on, Rabids, I know you're angry, but seriously, this is just too far. You don't send death threats to the people who MAKE THE SHOW. This is one of the reasons why people hate us, because the Rabid split of the fandom over reacts at ever little change!

I was concerned about EQG but I've calmed myself  because I know season 4 won't be affected so whats the problem? (and I also think EQG could be good, I mean look at MLP did you expect that? )

 

Just trust the writers and don't whine about something you can't change and if you really consider to kill someone over a show

I think it is unbelievably stupid.

 

I can't think of any single situation where it's justifiable to send threats over e-mail or social networks to people working on a cartoon show. No matter your feelings on the quality of the product. A threat is not even a real critic, it is the dumbest possible course of action. It hurts the staff, it hurts the reputation of the show and it hurts the fandom.

 

These guys that sent these threats should be criminally charged for it, because that's what it is: a crime. (In my country at least, and I can't see the US or Canada being different)

 

Now, I understand that some of these messages where sent by people that are not even in the fandom, but anyway, the fans who behaved like this need to do 3 things.

 

1. Public apologies to the DHX staff.

2. Public apologies to the fandom as a whole

3. Get professional help.
