The Orphanage

Mystical Flow stood on the porch of the orphanage, staring ahead as she stared at the sun as it begin to rise.  At the moment, it was right on the horizon.  It was beautiful.  Too beautiful to be seen at such a place.

And it was snowing.  A bonus.

Mystical Flow turned her head to the door of the Orphanage and sighed.  She turned back towards it, her head lowered.  She went up to the door and stopped in front of it.

She quickly raised her head, perked up her eyes, placed a smile on her face and then ventured on inside.

Chamois Vine rubbed her eyes and then opened one.  She stared at the sleeping form of the pony in the bed next to her and then rolled over, preferring the empty bed to the pony.  She closed her eyes again.

But there was no use obviously.  There never was.

Chamois moaned and opened her eyes.  She sat up, her mane bouncing about her head.  She brushed it back and got out of the bed.  it wasn't even breakfast time yet.  Certainly not time for Chamois to get up.

But here she was!

Stupid life.

Somber Tunes, during his sleep, had heard a bit of shuffling about the room, slowly opening his full red eyes and sitting up. Somepony was probably already awake, and he just did as well. That made him a bit scared..

Somber was scared of nearly everything... He had only entered the orphanage for a few months, but refused to talk with anyone... He never spoke, and he always was behind himself either in his bed, or far off away from everyone.

He looked around, seeing that it wasn't even time for breakfast yet, meaning he was too early to get up. He just laid back down in the bed.

Lionheart was quietly siting at the office for  the ponies that just came in. His parent were recently deceased due to an assassin assault  at a cart the were escorting to the palace. He and his sister were going to be sent at the unicorn academy  but although his sister was accepted he was not. Having no other place to go he was send to the orphanage.

He was going to be introduced to the other kids during breakfast and if he wanted to be honest with  himself he really couldn't care less. It wasn't necessarily the fact that he was sad but more like a mix  of bad emotions hitting pressing him at the same time. He waited patiently wishing he had some chocolate to eat.

The very unpleasant sound of an alarm clock's bells tore Aloïs from his quiet slumber. He had a bad habit of not making it to his bedroom and typically passing out in his chair. Across the room, the clock continued its violent rattling, drawing a very pained groan from the poor unicorn. His horn began to glow as he rubbed his eyes, an empty green bottle lifting itself from the ground and firing across the room, smashing both itself and the alarm clock, which both fell into a a tall pile of broken glass and alarm clocks. Slow as a snail, he began his poor excuse for a daily routine, grabbing his saddle bags, rolling a cigarette and lighting it, exiting the mess of an apartment room at around 7:30.

Upon arriving at the building, he pushed his way through the back door, letting it close on its own behind him. He enters the shipment room and makes his way to his 'office' donning his vest and grabbing his mop and bucket, making his way back to the main hall, setting up and beginning to mop the floor, not entirely sure as to why. Maybe to look busy.

Fiera tossed and turned in her bed as nightmares still wandered around and played with her head (woohoo it rhymes!). The mystery of where her parents went was the theme of these nightmares, showing her what could have happened to them. Assassination, a dangerous and gory accident, a fight at the tavern that got a little out of hand... but she knew they weren't dead. She could sense that they were still alive... somewhere. Regardless of her faith in them living, the nightmares still scared her. Not even Luna could help with the terrors she experienced in her sleep, they got worse every night. There was still a small part of her that wanted to see all of this... all of the possibilities. It was seriously messed up, and she knew she needed to wake up now.

She awoke with a jolt and sat up, cold sweat slowly making its way down her face accompanied by fast and heavy panting. She took a quick look around, one pony obviously already awake. She shuffled around in her bed a little bit and laid back down, staring up at the ceiling.

'Those nightmares aren't real... my parents are alive, i know it...' she thought, her hope slowly draining out of her. 'But... what if they aren't? What if they ARE alive, but just don't care about me anymore?...' she pondered. She hated these thoughts, she just wanted to be with her parents again, but she knew the chance of that happening wasn't very likely.

Shade had been walking for hours... And she was in lots of pain. It's one thing to be kicked out of a place, it's another thing to be kicked out of a place you thought was your home.

She never knew her mother or father, her first memory was being in a room in a sewer, it was a fun life, she was trained to become a thief, until she discovered a dark secret about herself. She was a changeling, or at least part changeling, a halfling. She left the sewers to go to the hive. She guessed that she was banished from the hive because they didn't like halflings, but she just left without question.

The snow was chilling shade to the bone, changelings and halfling don't do well in the cold, not to mention that shade was starving. Shade stopped and sat down in front of the orphanage unaware of what it was.

Ace was still asleep unknown to him that everypony was waking up in his mind dreams of awesome adventures moved in his head (which were inspired by the books he read). As far as Ace has known he has been in the orphanage ever since he was a filly, he had no idea if his parents were alive-well ok he dreams that there the most powerful ponies out there, fighting for the good guys. (that's some imagination.)

Mystical Flow sighed and looked around the empty front room when she heard a shuffling sound from outside.  She felt confused, as she had just been out there.  Mystical turned to the door and pushed it open.

"Oh...hello.  Who are you...?" Mystical asked, seeing a pony sitting on the porch.

Chamois sighed to herself and slumped out of the room filled with beds and more beds.  She went to the bathroom.  At least that was one advantage of getting up early.  First to get to the bathroom.

Chamois went in, found an empty stall, grabbed a towel, and began her bath.

Angel Feather sat in the back of the carriage, staring at the floor of it.

"Are you sure, young filly?"

Angel Feather looked up and met her light purple eyes.  She hesitated and then nodded.

Shade looked behind her. She was shivering and could bairly talk. "M...m...my....n....n...nam....e......... Izzzzz..... Shhhade...." She was keeping herself from using her magic to keep warm... She was in her pony forum and didn't want to be seen using magic because she was a Pegasus. She shivered and looked at the pony who talked to her.

(Snow Song will come in later.today will be her first day working at the orphanage and she's brought Windfall. Lets say Windfall is 8 and Snow is 15 for this RP. I'm also controlling an NPC in this post but you won't see her again..)

"Are you sure you're alright, Miss Sky? You look a tad cold."

The social worker stares at the little Pegasus filly with big green eyes, a fake smile on her lips.

"Umm, yes... I... I'm fine..." The filly replied, trying not to shiver and hide behind her mane. In all honesty, she was freezing cold, frost forming on her wings. She didn't want to be on this stupid flying carriage. She wished the stupid worker would stop staring at her and leave her alone.. She would have wanted to go home, if she knew what a home was. All she'd ever really known was the old, run-down orphanage back on Prince Blueblood Island.

"If you say so. We're almost there. Your new home. Now, I know it's a little bigger than the place at PBI, and you're leaving all your friends, but this is for your safety. Anyhow, I'm sure you'll make lots of friends there in no time!"

Friends? Pfft. Sunset had never had any. She disn't even really know what they were. Somepony to play with? Somepony you could trust? She couldn't be sure. Even before those jerks came to the orphanage, she hadn't been very outgoing. Now, with her scars, it was worse. The fillies and colts at school had always made fun of her for the scars. Why would the ponies here be any different?

The carriage settled down outside the orphanage, around the back. Leaf Heart, the pink-and-green Earth Pony social worker, escorted Sunset to the front. She noticed the pony on the porch, and realized that she must be the owner.

Leaf walked up to the mare, saying, "Hello, I am Leaf Heart, a social worker. You must be Mystical Flow, the owner of this fine... Establishment. I have a filly here from Prince Blueblood Island. Her recent... home was overtaken by a group of stallions who beat the foals there, especially her. I have taken on the responsibility of transferring the poor foal to... Well, here."

(Browser just crashed and I lost a whole post xD)

Halfway through the hall, Aloïs stops to rest, leaning on his mop and letting the wet floor dry. A creeping thought as to why he's doing this is quickly dismissed as he sharply exhales through his nose, carrying a thin aura of smoke along with it. He shifts the cigarette to the other side of his mouth and clears his throat, about to get back to work when an all to familiar sound hits his ears. Somebody entered through the front, meaning either a social worker and another miserable ball of snot and tears to clean up after, or perhaps a couple looking to adopt... Bah, what was he thinking, it was obviously the former, it always was. He sighs and shakes his head, causing a clump of ash to fall into the water. Cursing quietly, he mops up the clump of ash and sticks his mop into the bucket, turning just in time to see the girl's bathroom door close. 'Up already, hm?' He thinks to himself. 'Fine, just don't break anything in there...' He wheels the bucket over and continues his busy work, humming to himself ever so quietly.

Mystical Flow lowered herself down so that she was at eye level with the filly whose name was Shade.  "But you're freezing," she said gently.  She unwrapped the blue scarf from her neck and draped it over Shade.  "Here,  Use this," she said.  "Would you like to come inside, Shade?" she smiled gently.  "its nice and warm inside and I can get you something warm to drink."

Mystical Flow looked up then, as some pony addressed her.  Mystical Flow quickly stood up and smiled at the pony.  "Yes, hello!"  She then looked down at Sunset.  "Oh, well you will have to go through some papers with my assistant and I'll take care of this young filly from here," she smiled down at Sunset.  "You can both come in.  My assistant will be with you shortly."

Then Mystical looked down at Shade once more.  She held out her hoof to her.

Chamois Vine basically ignored the janitor.  But then, she had already closed the door, so it didn't seem to even matter too much.

When she finished her bath, she dried herself off with her towel, tossed it into the dirty clothes bin and slumped out of the bathroom.

Sunset Sky wanted to hide as the mare Leaf Heart was talking to looked at her, but she didn't trust the social worker to understand if she hid behind her, so she stayed where she was and] hid a bit behind her mane.

"Of course! I was expecting quite a bit of paperwork. Thank you. Come with me, Miss Sky."leaf Heart opened the door and let Sunset in. They went to sit in the chairs at the lobby and waited for Mystical Flow's assistant.

(OOC: are you your assistant as an NPC? Or is Snow Song your new assistant? Because today is Snow Song's first day, so I don't think it would work...)

Lionheart was quite bored of waiting and he really wanted some chocolate, seeing as nopony was really paying attention in the room he was in he stood and swiftly sneaked out of it only to come face first with 4 ponies 2 adults(Mystical and leaf) and 2(shade and sunset) around his age(OOC:At least that's my interpatation of their positions). *So much for sneaking into the kitchen.* He thought to himself.

It wasn't only the fact that he was in a semi populated area now but the fact that he opened/closed the door fast and pushed hiself on it in a silly sneaking fashion making enough noise for the people in the room to be fully aware of his position.

*Couldn't there be chocolate dispenser like everywhere around here.* He pondered randomly. *It would be quite useful to have that much chocolate availability* His train of though continued as he looked at the others.

Shade looks up at the ponies around her, * wait... Social worker... Paper work... A shy filly... Some pony who looks like there trying to sneak somewhere... This is an orphanage!*

Shade knew about orphanages, the way of life and how they worked where really different from the sewer. She looks at the hoof that was held out to her. She got up quickly to run... But her legs where weak and not moving... Finally, "screw it............... I'm... T... Tired.... Of... R... Running... Any... Ways..." She took mystical's hoof to go inside.

Aloïs tensed a bit when the door opened, looking over to see that he had cleaned the entire hall down to the bathroom, he looked to the side to see the little filly before shifting his cigarette to the other side of his mouth, grumbling something unintelligible and going back to moping. As much as he would hate to admit it, the filly had actually frightened him a bit, he had forgotten all about her and wasn't used to the orphans being up this early. He knew she would have nothing to say, so at least there was that. He dips his mop in the water again before returning it to the floor, working out the filth.

Mystical lead the filly inside of the orphanage, whispering to Lionheart as she passed him.  "I know, why not get some chocolate from the kitchen for yourself?" she smirked, giving him permission.  (I suppose she would know him by now, as she is quite a good observer)

Mystical smiled down at Shade.  "Now you can go sit down somewhere and I'll go get you some hot cocoa."

Then she looked up at Leaf Heart.  "And for you, I'll be getting my assistant," she smiled.

Mystical Flow turned around and went towards a door, which she opened and disappeared through, closing the door behind her, already tired half an hour into her morning.

(I thought that perhaps we could skip that part.  Unless there was anything special you had planned for that part, then I could use a NPC)

Chamois looked at the janitor when he grumbled, nearly scowling at him for it.  But then she looked down at the floor that he was cleaning and quickly stood up on the tips of her hooves before hurriying down the hall, taking big steps, not wanting to mess up his new work.

Because she did some what feel bad for him, for ending up with an awful job, surrounded by whiny foals like herself.  But then she also felt bad for herself, for ending up with an awful life.

"Sorry," she whispered as she got to the end of his work and hopped onto the dry floor, checking back to see if she had messed it up.  When she saw that she didn't, she scurried off.

He had nearly fallen back into his state of mindless work when he caught sight of the little filly out of the corner of his eye. He looked up, praying she wasn't running from a mess, but saw that she was walking very carefully over the wet floor. He chewed on the cigarette idly as he watched her turn and make sure she hadn't ruined his work, this struck him as rather odd. Most of the little brats would even try to mess things up, sliding through the wet floors, but this filly was apparently different. Without noticing it, he smiled halfway, feeling some hope for the new fillies and colts. As soon as he noticed it though, he crushed the thought, dropping his cigarette to the floor and grinding out the flame with his hoof before mopping it up, turning back to his work.

Somber awoke again, this time to use the bathroom. He slowly got out of bed, quickly falling out of bed with a thud and a whimper. He got up, shaking, and slowly tip-hoofed off towards the bathroom, which was right in the hallway. He had managed to overhear some conversation about a new filly in the orphanage, but that was it...

(OOC:Well he was supposed to be new  XD But to be honest I don't think his love for chocolate would be much of a secret even from the first days)

"REALLY?!?!"He shouted out of reflex his face shining just for a little bit before turning back into a more gloomy one. "hmpf Thanks." He finished rather monotonously to hide his excitement. He wasn't really sure why he felt like hiding his excitement but possibly because he felt bad for feeling happy after the even that occurred..

There was only one obstacle in his path now finding the kitchen. He was still quite new and he didn't know the place by heart  yet and even though he left immidiatly like he knew exactly where he was going he got totally lost  and on his way the unknown he found himself slipping on wet floor and falling right onto the janitor  that just mopped it.

It all happened rather fast and Lionheart hadn't really realised what occurred and simple stood there fallen rubbing his head saying  "Aaaw that hurts."

(I hope you don't mean you tackled him, because that'd be a bit harder to react to xD)

The janitor had been facing away from the doors as the colt began his sliding across the floor. He turned around to wet his mop just as the energetic little pony collided with his left leg, as though a car struck an oak or a telephone pole. He looks down, looking angrily down at the newest mess who had wasted no time in ruining his work. His eyes took on what one would imagine a look that would turn many to stone, the pain starting to register in his leg. He bares his teeth, trying hard not to crack his mop over the colt's head.

"Hope you like mopping floors, boy..." Is all he snarls out.

Ace walked into the room where the two fillies were, now he would go and introduce himself except for one little problem he was still asleep, well ok he was half asleep seeing how in his mind one of the fillies was a timber wolf. He slower walked over to the them and gave a tired smile. "Helloooooooooooooooo, there I like your timber puppy." Ace said still not fully wakened.

(OO:Nah you reaction was what I had in mind)

Lionheart looks up finally realising what happened. "Hmpf you should have put a warning  of wet floor. Your fault." He swiftly pinned the blame back to the janitor. It was really his own fault both for hurting them both and ruining the clean floor but he sure as hell wouldn't going to admit to it he was still in a hurry to reach the kitchen and mopping anything wasn't on his to do list.

"Oh oh maybe you can help me. Where is the kitchen ? I am rather new and I don't know the place very well." He asked boldly. His chances of getting help from the guy he just  ruined his work close to zero but still it was his best bet.

He stood up. "Come on please don't hold your own mishaps against me." He said doing his best to sound as convincing and cute as he could.

(The janitor isn't about to lose his job by beating a little kid xD)

His anger turning to rage like a pot of water boiling over, his horn ignites, lifting the colt off the ground by his tail with the unseen hand of magic. He holds the runt right next to the bucket to allow him to see the wet floor warnings on all four sides before lifting him a bit higher, dropping the mop and making way back to the office. He opens the door and sets the kid down on the floor, ready to prevent him from passing and messing up the floor again.

"Who brought in this one and who said he could go to the kitchen?" He asks, trying his hardest (yet failing) to hide his anger.

(I hope you were in the main office, because I haven't been able to read ever single post yet... Let me know if you aren't though, I'll change this post!)
