The young man stood alone, the ocean's waves lapping over his old and muddied tennis shoes. His arms were crossed as he stood, simply looking out over the ocean. The bushes behind him were rustling in the faint ocean wind. He ignored them.

He was of average height and stature. Indeed, the only remarkable features the young man had was the way he held himself, confident and self-assuredly. Even though his clothes were torn, and even the green headband he wore was muddied, he had the air of one who had suffered, had endured, and was all the more powerful for it.

Tap. Tap.

The man jumped, a hand jumping to a red and white ball on his belt as he whirled around. But it was only one of the Island's native Wynaut, tugging on his pants leg. He bent down to Wynaut's level, and kindly whispered, "Yes? What is it?" The Wynaut blabbered something, but the man seemed to understand. "They've found the ones?" he asked. Wynaut let out a note of confirmation, and the man's eyes lit up with hope. "Maybe we can be saved, then." He smiled, and looked to see the floating city nearby. "We shall wait. They shall come."

In the streets of Lilycove City, a young trainer wandered around. A Swablu stood on her shoulder, only looking half as excited as the girl. Of course, matching the girl's enthusiasm was near impossible. Especially with the state the region of Hoenn was in. The people of Lilycove could be a little happier, though. Being the city that held Team Aqua's headquarters meant not much had changed there. Team Magma would be fools to attack the city. At the same time, no one in their right minds would leave the protected city. Unless they were naive. Or having visions of someone or something calling for help. Or just bored.

For this girl, it was all three. She didn't think much of the second. The girl dreamed often. So such dreams, no matter how frequent were not weird. The Swablu had nested itself into the girl's red hair. That hair was short, but soft enough for the softest pokemon to cuddle in it.

"But where to?" The girl thought aloud. "I mean, Lilycove has no gyms. If I was a coordinator I'd be set, but no, I can't pull off pretty for the life of me." The Swablu had seemed a bit irratated. He could surely pull off pretty.

The ocean continued to stretch on for what seemed like an eternity, never to show any sign of land. But it didn't matter, no matter how far it was, there was no turning back. A boy, sailing across the sea atop his loyal Lapras, driven by a vision he had recieved while venturing around Goldenrod City, a vision of a man desperately pleading for help. He was never one to have crazy dreams, so seeing this was a surprise to him. But had it not been for one key factor he would have probably brushed it off altogether. Not only were there visions of destruction among the Hoenn region, but it was with the man himself. He was riding the ancient legendary Pokémon Rayquaza! He then knew who this man was and that his plea was of truth.

After looking at his map he set out for the region in despair, not knowing how long it would take. He didn't care for risks and followed where his instincts told him to go. Throughout his aqueous voyage, he constantly thought about the vision, what was really going on, and, most of all, why HE was chosen. He just a young boy, nothing really stood out about him other than his short and spiky teal-ish hair and silver eyes.

"What am I getting myself into...?" He said aloud. After which, his Lapras let out a soft cry in response. He quickly switched his attention to her. "Oh, are you doing alright Aurora?? Would you like to take a break, it has been a while and we've been going non-stop since we left Goldenrod..." The boy softly asked to his partner. Aurora was strong, but he knew everyone had their limits.

Lapras responded in a determined and confident cry, showing no sign of letting up or giving in.

"Alright then..." The boy said with a sigh.

Peering off into the distance ahead of them he started to see buildings, one of which looked like a building used to dock submarines. Seeing as the water around this area was quite clear and devoid of rocky outcrops, he knew this couldn't have been Lilycove and deduced that it was Slateport City.

"Yes! We're almost there buddy!" He exclaimed, for he knew he would soon find out what the vision was bout and, more importantly, why he had been called there.

Miles leaned on the rails of the ship he was on. He'd just left Castelia City and was headed to Slateport City by boat since he had no Pokemon that could ferry him on fly him to Hoenn. Though Miles wasn't really sure why he was going to Hoenn in the first place. Sure he could get some nice training in but unlike his past travels this had more meaning behind it as if he was sent on a mission. What's more, he didn't even know what the mission was. All he had to go by was a vision depicting a man on a Pokemon asking for help. But the most interesting part was that the Pokemon the man rode was Rayquayza the strongest of Hoenn's weather trio.

"We have five minutes before we reach port. Please gather your belongings and be ready to exit the ship." The captain said over the ship's intercom. "'Bout time." Miles says to himself quietly, still in deep thought. At this point he could see all sorts of buildings, though it was rather underwhelming compared to the sprawling metropolis that was Castelia. At the very least Miles would be able to start training again. Hopefully he could find a strong trainer to battle and maybe some answers to the vision that keep replaying in his head.

((I will color and stuffs when I don't have phone internet.))

A large group of Team Aqua members pushed past Stella, seemingly completely unconcerned about her welfare. Lilycove City was doing rather well as the hub of Aqua activity. In fact, the city had swelled in size, due to refugees from Fortree moving there, as well as those who had been sympathetic in Magma territory. The opportunity in the city was great enough that a Trade Bazaar had even been set up on the bare portions of the city on the sandy land near the coast. Some of the Merchants were recognisable as those from Slateport. The Bazaar seemed to thrive, even though the Megamart was also located in the city.

"Yes! We're almost there buddy!" He exclaimed, for he knew he would soon find out what the vision was bout and, more importantly, why he had been called there.

Slateport City looked surprisingly empty, for a city of it's size. Many buildings had boarded-up windows, or were otherwise in disrepair. The people there looked ragged and tired.

The Lighthouse was closed to the public, and was now running around the clock. Most activity in the town seemed to be on the east side, around the harbor and boat factory.

Shouts, yells, and roars could be heard to the North. The few people who wandered Slateport's streets kept looking that way fearfully.

The Bazaar looked abandoned. Maybe it was just an off day.

Two Team Aqua members stood on either side of the entrance of the museum, a Crawdant and Armaldo standing behind them. It looked very official.

Team Aqua Members were swarming around a new bridge that connected to the west of the city. According to the sign, it led to the free city-state of Oldale-Littleroot.

A small group of thugs seemed to be conspiring in the abandoned bazaar area.

The ship arrived in Slateport Harbor just as a Lapras pulled up on the South Beach. A voice could be heard over the intercom before Miles could leave the ship. It said, "Be careful if your destination is northward. Recent Magma attacks have been reported in the area. Tread with caution, and remember, always remember, Team Aqua's promise for a sunnier future in Hoenn."

When the two finally arrived at the beach, Cal jumped onto the sand to stretch his legs. He wasn't quite sure HOW long he'd been surfing on Aurora, but he knew it was too long. But that's when he heard it, a boat pulling in to dock nearby in the harbor. He was in so much of a hurry that he forgot that there were boats that travel between regions.

He turned to Aurora with a guilty face and said: "Oh yeah...a boat probably would've been a BIT more efficient...sorry girl. But hey, at least you were to able to get in a great amount of water time. But after all this, you deserve a nice, long rest."

Aurora gave a smile as Cal called her to return. He walked around and surveyed his area, he had always read that Slateport had a bustling market area. However, there was nobody there, even the market stalls themselves were empty and devoid of goods. For the most part, the city looked abandoned. Then he heard the sounds of whispers coming from somewhere in the market place. Feeling slightly uneasy, Cal called out his Quilava to walk with him.

"Feel like stretching your legs some, Sol?"

Sol gave a warm smile to Cal, and the two of them continued to explore the city, making their way to the PokéMart hoping to stock up on some supplies.

((Well, people are in Slateport, sooo...))

Upon being pushed by the grunts, Stella sighed. It was not unusual to be harassed by the lower members of the team. Swablu barely noticed a sudden jolt in Stella's movement, anyway. "So, where to?" She asked the bird, softly cooing in her ear. Which was odd considering how excited he was earlier. There was no point in going to Fortree, and Mossdeep City and Sootopolis were surrounded in water. Which would be fine... If Stella had a water type, large flying type, or wanted to waste her money on multiple boat rides. She did have money to waste, but why would she?

There were some ships in the area. Most owned by Team Aqua, they probably wouldn't allow travel to the devastated city of Slateport. The few privately owned ships were mostly small motor boats. And to get someone to take you somewhere would cost a lot. Luckily, the girl did have money to spend. Not to waste, but spend.

Seeing some nearby fisherman, Stella walked up to them. "Hey... You don't think you could take me to Slateport, do ya?" She asked with a somewhat confident voice.

((OOC: Purely for the purposes of transportation to Hoenn, I'm going to say Shamus has an older brother who is a more experienced trainer and has travelled more. Said brother is never going to appear in the story after this post.)

As Shamus clung to the back of his brother's Golurk*, the wind blew his shaggy hair around, causing it to whip at his face. He had been surprised to learn that a Pokemon like Golurk was capable of flight, but it turned out it was actually a pretty fast flyer. Of course, he'd always had faith in his brother's ability to get him to Hoenn quickly; his brother never let him down.

Speaking of Hoenn, he still wasn't entirely sure why he was going there. He usually wasn't the type to believe in visions like the ones he'd had, but for some reason he couldn't resist the lure of adventure and the chance to see a new region. Anxious to arrive, he turned to his brother, "So Angus, how much longer until we get there?"

Angus pointed to a rapidly growing dot on the horizon (I'm assuming they're flying just a few feet over the ocean, because I doubt Golurk can fly at high altitudes). "That's Slateport city off in the distance. It shouldn't be more than half an hour until we arrive."

Indeed, roughly thirty minutes later they were standing near the harbor of Slateport city, which looked strangely deserted. Shamus thanked his brother, who immediately had to leave to take care of business back in Kanto.

With no real leads, he could think of little to do besides wandering the city and looking for someone who might be able to help.

((OOC:* Yeah, Golurk can learn fly apparently.))

A pair of muscular trainers in leather jackets stepped casually out from behind an abandoned building, barring Cal's way and cracking their knuckles. "There's a fee to walk down dis here street, dere is," the shorter of the two said. He was bald, and was wearing a sardonic smirk. The other was tall and dark-haired, wearing dark shades. "You gonn pay up, whelp?"

"The most direct route is blocked by an Aqua blockade of Mauville City. They attack any vessel that comes within sights. So we'd have to loop around through Pacifilog, and..." the man shuddered. "I don't like the things I've been hearing about that place. We could always go the long way around Hoenn's main island, or loop farther south, but you could just walk there for the time that would take."

Cal felt a bit intimidated by these hooligans, but only due to their appearance. He had no intention on paying any "fee" but was trying his best not to start anything. Despite his calm stature, Sol's flame ignited, showing that, were something to happen, he would be prepared for anything.

"Easy there pal, no need to get all riled up. We'll have no need for a fight. In fact, let's just leave these two and continue on our way, they'd just be a waste of time." Cal said calmy, not even expressing the smallest amount of fear.

Sol calmed down and extinguished his flame. The duo were about to turn and start their departure when they heard another person holler from behind them.

"What's going on here?" The person said with a heroic demeanor.

Before Cal could even say anything,

"This is just going swell isn't it..." Cal thought to himself. He awaited to see if a battle would commence or not.

(Guys...I'm so disappointed in all of you. Golurk is like the coolest Pokemon ever. I mean it's a giant robot that can fly with rockets. That's amazing. I get a nice Iron Giant feel from Golurk and I love that movie.)

Refer to my previous post for a description of Slateport City.

Miles listened to the intercom message as he left the ship. ~Magma and Aqua...Why do those names sound familiar?"~ Miles thought to himself. He quickly forgot about it, though, as he surveyed the city. "Well how disappointing." Miles said as he looked at the once great port city. The worst part was that the "famous" bazzar was all but abandoned. "Hmm I suppose I should start gathering information. Then again..." Miles looked down at his three Pokeballs. "Lets see if we can get a battle or two in first. That boat ride was boring." he said heading north to Route 110 disregarding the warning from just a few moments ago.

(Huh. I don't really have much to say. Give the hero a chance to post again.)

(IKR? Golurk is amazing.)

Route 110 was a complete disaster zone. What was once a magnificent Cycling Road was now very large pieces of rubble coating the ground. The fighting was louder, and occasional bursts of water, flame, and electricity could be seen spurting from farther north along the route, behind a large section of fallen bridge.

A slightly portly, balding man sat cross-legged outside what must once have been a house. Except that it had collapsed under a very large section of bridge.

Other than this, the route seemed eerily deserted. Even the wild Pokemon seemed to have fled.

(Get over it. It's canon. It was in one of the movies. That image was taken directly from a movie.)

((OOC: Just let me have my suspension of disbelief, please. Golurk is still awesome either way, though.))

Shamus took that as a threat, and he didn't take well to threats. Nor did he take well to being called kid. What 'kid' had a mustache like this? "I'm not going anywhere. Unless-" he grinned,"-you're looking for a fight?"

Miles was in shock at Route 110's appearance. "What in Arceus' name happened here?" he said to himself as he looked at the remains of the cycling road. "Hey mister" Miles said walking up to the balding man. "Any idea what happened here? Why is the route, and Slateport for that matter, so torn up, and...What are you even doing out here by yourself?" Miles asked the strange man after noticing the crushed house.

"I expected as much..." Stella said, sighing and walking away. She then turned to Swablu. "Hey. You don't think you could evolve to Altaria now, do you?" She asked sarcastically. Even if Swablu was a flying type, he was too small to support her weight. Swablu barely batted an eyelash. "Well, I suppose we're walking then."

"I think going through Fortree is the best option. It'll take forever to get to Slateport, but whatever."

Octavia was yelping and shouting stuff across the boat she caught. Her Riolu was continuously hitting his head onto the boat in frustration, Leafeon was taking in the sunlight, and Luxio kept on trying to do a proper thunderbolt, but kept on shocking himself. The other people on the boat were giving her odd looks. She wanted to go to Hoenn to see those Magma and Aqua guys! Ever since she heard of the war and from that vision of this guy who was riding a huge flying snake, she wanted to come to Hoenn to tell Team Magma that their hoodies were awe-some and she wanted one! Magma did have an odd cause though...eh, she'd just find a grunt and ask for a hoodies without joining.

"We are arriving Slateport City."

Octavia jumped up with a grin, Luxio stopped shocking himself, Riolu stopped banging his head, and Leafeon continued to bathe in the rays. Octavia picked up Leafeon, and the extremely odd quartet made their way off the boat. Octavia could see a bunch of people around and a really cool museum too. The city looked pret-ty beat up, but so what?

"Okay, Luxio, where do you want to go? Everywhere seems so awesome that I can't decide!" Octavia asked as Luxio muttered something to RIolu.

"He wants to go to the museum." Riolu said, getting surprised looks that a Pokémon could talk.

Leafeon said something else.

"However, Leafeon thinks that those grunts won't let us in."

"If we have a really really really really really good reason they'll probably let us in!"

Riolu grumbled at walked right up to the museum with two Aqua members, who stared at him with confusion because he was talking to some other people.

"Yo, can you let us in? My trainer right now is really hyper and wants to go and do something cool and honestly this museum seems like the only cool thing here." Riolu told the two Aqua members, pointing at Octavia telling Luxio how to do a Thunderbolt the proper way, but falling on deaf ears. Leafon was bathing in the sunlight again. "If there's a fee..um...we have 90 Pokédollars on us at the moment, Octavia spent it all throwing a party in Sinnoh."

"Slateport's Governor is spending the day here. No chances can be taken." "Shut up, why don't ya?" The other grunt advised.

Shamus didn't buy it. The two men didn't exactly look like your typical upstanding citizens. Not that it mattered. Forcing someone to donate is the same as robbing them, really. "Your cause? And what exactly would that be? Because from where I'm standing this looks an awful lot like a shakedown."

Heading out to route 121, Stella called out her other two pokemon. "Oddish! Absol!" She yelled, before summoning the two. Oddish immediately jumped into her arms, though clearly looked upset that she was not the center of attention. While Absol stayed close to Stella, as if sensing something. He'd been doing that for a while now...

The route of 121 was as familiar as ever. Stella had been there often. As well as Route 120.

Cal started to get a bit impatient, he was needed somewhere and being "help up" here wasn't doing him any good. He felt like he could actually walk away from this, given that it seemed like they were barely paying any attention to him. However, he had other plans.

"Charitable donation for your cause eh? Well the only way I'll be giving you ANY amount of money..." Cal said, head hung low, "Is if you beat it out of me!"

Oddish immediately jumped into her arms, though clearly looked upset that she was not the center of attention. While Absol stayed close to Stella, as if sensing something. He'd been doing that for a while now...

The route of 121 was as familiar as ever. Stella had been there often. As well as Route 120.

((You can just teleport Stella to Fortree if you want, unless you wish to do a thing. :3))

(Okay. Skipping Pyre City, then?)

Rounding a curve in the road, out of the rainy lands of Route 120, Fortree City came into sight. Or rather, what remained of Fortree.

Most of the city now only existed in the ground, burned black and covered in a thin layer of ash. A path had been forged through the center of the city, where travelers had plodded through the ash. Indeed, the only signs that showed that there was once a city there at all was the fact that the Pokemon Center remained standing, and evidently in operation. The Gym still stood, too. Well, sort of. Most of it had burned away, but the foundations and floor traps remained. A statue of pure metal stood commemorating those lost in the fire, between where the Gym's entrance had once been and the trodden path. It was gracefully curved, almost sperical, and had a black stripe running down from its top almost to where its legs began. Seven indentations were placed in the middle of the stripe, arranged in a hexagonal formation.

The Pokemon Center's windows were bright, but other than that, the city was dead to the world.

"Wot does our cause matter to you?" The man spat. "Let's just say that it's funding the war effort." A sneer split his face. The man had two golden teeth. "You'd leave now, if you knew what was good fer ya."

Riolu rolled his eyes. "Is it just me, or am I getting a Galactic vibe from this? You guys are Team...Magma, right? No, wait, no, you're Team Aqua. Lame uniforms, by the way. At least Team Magma has hoods."

"Aw, don't be mean to them little guy!" Octavia said walking up. She looked up at Team Aqua. "Your...um...boss is staying in the upper half of the museum, right? We can just look at the lower half! Everyone's happy! And just to make sure we're not super duper secret special spy agents, you can put all of your guards at the doors to upstairs. Deal?"

One of the Team Aqua members went to snatch angrily at Riolu for his comments, but the other rested a hand on his shoulder. "Peace," the second grunt said. "And the Governor is permitting absolutely no one to the museum today. I'm going to have to ask you to leave."

"There's that name again." Miles said at the mention of Team Aqua. "Tell me, just who is this Team Aqua and what sort of battle occurred here?" Miles asked the Trick Master. He just assumed Aqua was similar to Team Plasma who had just been defeated a few months ago by Unova's new champion.

"You don't know?" The Trick Master looked surprised. "I guess Unovites have other things to worry about." He twirled again, then launched into a brief history. "Teams Magma and Aqua used to be the two villainous teams here, much like your Team Plasma. They were dedicated to reshaping Hoenn to their will, literally, with the use of legendary Pokemon. They managed to sieze control of Groudon and Kyogre, respectively, and simultaneously, and Hoenn was almost destroyed in the mighty battle they waged afterward for dominance." The Trick Master twirled again, wringing his hands incessantly. "But then a Hero emerged, and foiled both teams. The Mighty Beast of the Air, Rayquaza, thwarted those of the Sea and the Earth, and sent them fleeing back to their ancient dwellings, to never bother Hoenn again. The Hero, with Rayquaza by his side, went on to take the seat of the Champion in Ever Grande City. But Team Aqua and Team Magma perservered, and undermined the new Champion's efforts. Eventually, they grew strong enough to overthrow him once again, now that Rayquaza had returned to his ancient dwelling as well, to return the balance to nature. And now, Hoenn stands divided, as Aqua and Magma became the major powers of the region, forcing Gym Leaders and Cities to swear servitude. And the Civil War is tearing Hoenn apart." The Trick Master gestured at the bridge. "And you happen to be standing yards away from the front line, my friend. Fighting between Aqua's Slateport and Magma's Mauville has been heavy, dirty, and underhanded. Neither team has the upper edge, but both once great cities have been made little due to the fighting. But even they don't compare to the atrocities at Fortree and Petalburg..." He spun around. "And at the Trick House..."

The bald thug cracked his knuckles, grinning menacingly. "Your words, not mine, whelp," he laughed. A pokeball emerged from his pocket, and emerging from it was a dark, wolf-like pokemon with flowing, tangled fur and blood-red eyes. "Mightyena, this man needs a bit of convincin'," the thug said. Mightyena growled in response. "Now, be a good boy, and we won't have reason to rearrange that pretty little face o' yours."
