HungryTroll 137 May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 (edited) As I belive there no such topic here (at least that's that search telling me). Since I've found out about my own temperament, It became easier for me to understand other people, so I'm interested in other Bronies temperaments. I'm myself is a phlegmatic, but honestly I think melacholics would prevail here. Ok, so who are you? Do you belive that people could be divided like that? And can that knowledge help in you life? So here the test if you don't know who you are yet - http://personality-testing.info/tests/4T.php (not the best one, idk the good one on English - sorry). And here the descriptions of all four temperaments - 1. Melancholic - The melancholic temperament is fundamentally introverted and is given to thought. Melancholic people are often perceived as very (or overly) pondering and are both considerate and very cautious. They are organized and schedule oriented, often planning extensively. Melancholics can be highly creative in activities such as poetry, art, and invention - and are sensitive to others. Because of this sensitivity and their thoughtfulness they can become preoccupied with the tragedy and cruelty in the world and are susceptible to depression and moodiness. Often they are perfectionists. Their desire for perfection often results in a high degree of personal excellence but also causes them to be highly conscientious and difficult to relate to because others often cannot please them. They are self-reliant and independent, preferring to do things themselves to meet their standards. One negative part of being a melancholic is that they can get so involved in what they are doing they forget to think of other issues. Their caution enables them to prevent problems that the more impulsive sanguine runs into, but can also cause them to procrastinate and remain in the planning stage of a project for very long periods. Melancholics prefer to avoid much attention and prefer to remain in the background; they do, however, desire recognition for their many works of creativity. They have been called "task-oriented introverts." 2. Choleric - The choleric temperament is fundamentally ambitious and leader-like. They have a lot of aggression, energy, and/or passion, and try to instill that in others. They are task oriented people and are focused on getting a job done efficiently; their motto is usually "do it now." They can dominate people of other temperaments with their strong wills, especially phlegmatic types, and can become dictatorial or tyrannical. Many great charismatic military and political figures were cholerics. They like to be in charge of everything and are good at planning, as they can often immediately see a practical solution to a problem. However, they can quickly fall into deep depression or moodiness when failures or setbacks befall them. They have been called "task-oriented extroverts." 3. Sanguine - The sanguine temperament is fundamentally sociable and pleasure-seeking; sanguine people are impulsive and charismatic. They tend to enjoy social gatherings, making new friends and tend to be boisterous. They are usually quite creative and often daydream. However, some alone time is crucial for those of this temperament. Sanguine can also mean sensitive, compassionate and romantic. Sanguine personalities generally struggle with following tasks all the way through, are chronically late, and tend to be forgetful and sometimes a little sarcastic. Often, when they pursue a new hobby, they lose interest as soon as it ceases to be engaging or fun. They are very much people persons. They are talkative and not shy. Sanguines generally have an almost shameless nature, certain that what they are doing is right. They have no lack of confidence. Sanguine people are warm-hearted, pleasant, lively and optimistic. They have been called "people-oriented extroverts." 4. Phlegmatic - The phlegmatic temperament is fundamentally relaxed and quiet, ranging from warmly attentive to lazily sluggish. Phlegmatics tend to be content with themselves and are kind. Phlegmatics are consistent, they can be relied upon to be steady and faithful friends. They are accepting and affectionate, making friends easily. They tend to be good diplomats because their tendency not to judge and affable nature makes reconciling differing groups easy for them. Phlegmatics prefer to observe and to think on the world around them while not getting involved. They may try to inspire others to do the things which they themselves think about doing. They may be shy and often prefer stability to uncertainty and change. Their fear of change (and of work) can make them susceptible to stagnation or laziness, or even stubbornness. They are consistent, relaxed, calm, rational, curious, and observant, qualities that make them good administrators. They can also be passive-aggressive. They have been called "people-oriented introverts." Edited May 29, 2013 by HungryTroll
SCS 7,537 May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 Both the melancholic and phlegmatic temperaments could fit me. I don't like putting labels on myself or others, so I'll just say that I'm a mix of both. I honestly don't think that all of humanity can be categorized into those four groups. This is due to the fact that it is the groups that conform to human behavior, and not the other way around, as the groups were formed through the study of human behavior. Since there are over seven billion people on this planet, the vast possibilities and nuances in the spectrum of human behavior are far too complex to be precisely organized into four groups.
Nilkad_Naqadah 144 May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 When I saw there were four options, I figured these probably corresponded to the four humors, which I'm more familiar with. Further inspection has shown this to be correct. Melancholic=blood (my mom and me) Choleric=Black bile (My youngest brother) Sanguine=Yellow bile (My older little brother and my boyfriend) Phlegmatic=phlegm, lol.(... I actually don't know any Dons.) There was a certain episode of the Cracked web series "After Hours" which brought up some interesting points in regards to the humors. If you're interested, it's the one about Ninja Turtles. 1 Nilkad_Naqadah, trekking through the barren wastes of the internet, searching for... I dunno, something less barren and wastelike, maybe? Friendship_Cannon 1,676 May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 Took the test, turns out I´m apparently Melancholic... Okay, that is just not true, at least not anymore. What I am is summed up in Choleric and Sanguine, the good as well as the bad things about me. Azaxx 111 May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 (edited) I ran the test and got MelancholicThe desciption I got, not entirely accurate, but most is. "Your temperment is melancholic. The melancholic temperament is fundamentally introverted and thoughtful. Melancholic people often were perceived as very (or overly) pondering and considerate, getting rather worried when they could not be on time for events. Melancholics can be highly creative in activities such as poetry and art - and can become preoccupied with the tragedy and cruelty in the world. Often they are perfectionists. Sapphire Quill 1,186 May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 Well, I did the Test and I got Sanguine, I would say this is true, Well in my mind, I have No idea, if it is or not, But I would say I don't have a full understanding of it, but I know Basic Knowledge of it, Cheers ~Sapphie <3 ✧ Made by Azura, Much Appreciated ✧
Shanks 10,816 May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 I am a bit of a mix of melancholic and choloric, it seems my mind is always going a million miles a minute even when I am asleep. I have in the past become pre occupied with the negative which has made me depressed which hasn't helped because I have had plenty of depressing things happening in my own life. As a musician and writen I am also a fairly creative person. I am an activist at heart though and lean more toward a choloric mentality of how I approach that, I am often very stubborn, strong willed and extremely determined. I am trying to become an author by writing about my experiences with Autism, it is the largest most complex project I have ever taken on and my mind is made up that I will do it. ~Chaotic Eddie~ 479 May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 According to the test I'm melancholic. Which might make sense and might not. I DID answer "Might describe me, unsure" to most of the questions. I do poetry. Give it a read? http://highonpoems.com/poet/ed_gosling Many thanks to weirdokitterz for the awesome siggy!
duidamasterXD 9,627 May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 The test tells me that I'm sanguine, but the description doesn't sound like me whatsoever, where the entry for phlegmatic might as well have been written about me. Voting phlegmatic.
fimdash 1,196 May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 Ah, the four temperaments. I always saw myself as a phlegmatic, and ended up getting that when I took the test just now. I think it's very fitting for me.
Sakura Moon 8 May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 The link you posted said that I am sanguine, I completely disagree with that. I'm very shy, and I don't really like speaking out loud, although I have to. I'm opinionated, but I'm scared that other people think I'm over-opinionated. I don't like parties, I don't like going out, whenever my boyfriend and I plan a date, if something gets in the way I just won't want to go any more. I'm very introverted. I prefer staying at home, watching movies or playing video games, although I do need the occasional social contanct or else I go a little stir crazy... but that's what grocery shopping is for! I used to be really out going and talkitive... but then a lot of people started being mean to me and they kind of just... broke me... Now I'm lonely :/
silverreverb 129 May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 according to the test, I scored as phlegmatic. I would say that would be accurate. I might also be a bit melancholic as this test would describe, but I'm not too sure about that

Capital time 15 May 31, 2013 Share May 31, 2013 I would say a mix of sanguine and phlegmatic because it is very hard for me to find a hobby I like. I am quite unorganized and forgetful and I love to just hangout with people and FORGET all of my problems. Although a problem for me is I am way to sarcastic and somewhat mean to my friends I absolutely really hate it but I try to catch myself and its kinda hard to do, I really am nice it's just that somethings that I think are "playfully" mean really are mean I think this is because I really don't care what other people say about me I just go "yup" or laugh whenever someone says something mean so I guess if I say something that I wouldn't mind someone saying to me, someone else might mind me saying that to them. So does anyone got any ideas other than thinking before you say something cause I would really love to change my attitude!

Mutemutt 773 May 31, 2013 Share May 31, 2013 (edited) Phlegmatic. I've taken tests like this before and I've always gotten phlegmatic. You can't group everyone perfectly; these groups are just rough categories to place people into based on their characteristics, but it's the same deal with the extrovert vs introvert situation, people can have qualities from multiple categories. Is it useful information? Well, it is important to understand who you are, your strengths and weaknesses. I mean, you're going to be living with yourself 24/7, might as well get used to who you are. Gone Airbourne 21,977 May 31, 2013 Share May 31, 2013 I have a phlegmatic personality. I am usually really quiet in most settings but if I am around friends etc. you can count me to be social-able. I am a really flexible person so whatever a group wants to do in a decision I'll go along with it just fine. I am also very simple I don't need a lot of things in this life to make me happy and joyful. Just to have friends and love to me that is more valuable than anything else in this life.

HungryTroll 137 June 1, 2013 Author Share June 1, 2013 I am also very simple I don't need a lot of things in this life to make me happy and joyful. Yeah, I think that describes phlegmatics really well. Most of phlegmatics I know (including myself) dont need complicated things, simple ones suits them just fine, but thats not try for most of other temperaments, I've got a feeling that other people making their life too complicated. I prefer staying at home, watching movies or playing video games, although I do need the occasional social contanct or else I go a little stir crazy... but that's what grocery shopping is for! I used to be really out going and talkitive... but then a lot of people started being mean to me and they kind of just... broke me... Now I'm lonely :/ Things will get better, belive me, I think may be you could become a sanguine, but you have to work for it. If you feel down behaving like phlegmatic, I belive that means that that not who you truly are, I think test shows which temperament for you would be the best but that doesnt mean that you like that at this very moment. For example some people who knows me for short time think that I'm sanguine, cause I'm easy going with people, not shy at all, acting well at parties e.t.c. But thats acquirements and I'm feeling at right place than I'm alone with just book in my hands. Think about it!
