Cuppie looked at Volt with an apologetic smile on her face, "uhh do you think you could deliver this cake for me? The building Iis rigjt there," she pointed with her hoof and pulled a small piece of paper looking at it, "it goes to some stallion named Windy Runner, it should be easy enough to find his office. Think you can do it?" Not waiting for an answer for she was eager to get back to the bakery she thanked him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Later she gave herself a face hoof, the week before she had been in Saddle Arabia where if you had done something nice for somepony they would give you kiss on the cheek in gratitude. Being a baker she got plenty of those and it was hard to break old habbits thinking that of coarse they didn't do that here.

At the kiss, Volt's cheeks flushed. "Um, cake! Yea! Right on it!" He hurried out of the bakery with the cake and started towards the building. Was that just courtesy? I didn't think Ponyville ponies did that. But what if it wasn't coutesy? What if it was more than that? No she's with Dogboots.... Right? Volt nearly walked into the building he was going to. He opened the door and went looked at the room names. Windy Runner.... Windy Runner... there! He looked at the room number and went up to it. He knocked on the door. "Um, Windy Runner? You ordered a cake... I think..."

Glancing up from the files he had been going over, Windy looked up at the door with his eyebrows arched in surprise. "A cake? Me? I don't believe so, but cake is never a bad thing, so I'll take it!" he laughed, smiling and grabbing the cake, before tipping the delivery pony. Tilting his head at the delivery pony, Windy snickered. "You're blushing red as a tomato. And I know from personal experience only mares can make us colts do that. So, who's the lucky mare?" he asked, setting the cake down on his desk and lounging back in his chair, while loosening his tie.

Cuppie trotted into the kitchen to find Flour kneeding dough, "um well it looks like you are on your feet again so I guess you won't be needing me anymore I was wondering...I need to leave."

"Leave?" Flour stopped kneeding to look up at Cuppie eyes full of disappointment before she shook her head and went back to the dough. Cupie went on, "yea leave I need to move on to a new place I know it hasn't been long but I feel like it's time to go."

"Well where are you planning on going how will you get there?" Cuppie shrugged, "I figure ill just catch a boat ride and see where it takes me I really wanted to go to trottingham." Flour frowned and but the unfinished dough in a bowl and trotted up stairs when she came back she gave Cuppie a slip of paper which she examined and saw that it was a very old ticket for a ferri ride to Trottingham that was unused. Cuppie looked up at the old mare and smiled wrapping her forelegs around Flours neck, "oh thank you so much!" She stopped herself from kissing Flour on the cheek as she responded, "I'm not going to use it anyway." But Cuppie knew this was a big deal and was greatful.

Dogboots stared at the ceiling for a prolonged period of time, the images of today with Cuppie were still clear and vivid in his mind. Every time it popped up he'd shake his head in embarrassment for what he had done.

 

"I'm such a fool for saying that to her! You don't know how she feels about you though. I know but is it really necessary to ask? There was no reaction, except making her feel awkward. Look, you need to go back and see how she at least feels about you. If you don't then you might regret it," 

 

The stallion sat up from his bed and knew that he had to at least ask her. The earth pony couldn't bear to have that kind of thing looming over him.

Volt had to pause. He didn't exactly know how to answer that"Oh don't ask. So much has happened in the past like... hour and I don't know how to deal with it. And what do you mean you didn't order a cake? I thought I had the right room... You are Windy Runner right?" Volt had a quizzical look on his face. He could have sworn this was the right room...

"Yeah, I'm Windy Runner. I know I didn't order the cake, but I'm more than willing to pay for it. I love cakes!" he said, starting to cut out a piece, before pausing and pulling out a bunch of bits to pay for the cake. Motioning the delivery pony to sit, Windy laughed genially. "Go on man, have a piece of cake, and tell me your name! I want to hear about these mare problems that you just had happen in the last hour, maybe I can help you out."

Well he seems nice.... Ah what the hay, it's not like this is my real job. Volt shrugged and sat down, grabbing himself a piece of cake. "To be honest, it's not really the mare. I'm pretty new here, don't even have a job yet! I met these two ponies at a bakery, and they seemed to be having relationship issues or something... I had a chat with them then left. I realized I forgot my saddlebags and went back to find some stallion asking for directions. I knew where the place was and I took him there. He is cra-a-zy! We ended up back at the bakery after I ran into the first stallion I met and we caused quite a commotion! The mare was there again and She asked me to to deliver this cake for her. Before I left she gave me a kiss on the cheek. That was just a brief summary, compared to what actually happened. So it's not really the mare. But she said she was from Ponyville and I don't think ponies from there do that. I could be interpreting this completely the wrong way but..." Volt sighed. He had just unloaded on a pony he didn't know at all! His caring instincts kicked in at the moment. "Sorry... I ramble sometimes."

"Aw, don't even get me started on rambling! I ramble so much, I invented a phrase for when I do it! I call it 'motor-mouthing'! So I can totally understand a long convoluted train of thought! And to help you out, that mare wants you. Bad. I was in Ponyville for a while, and they sure don't kiss in a platonic fashion there...." 

 

Pausing to think and eat a bit of cake, Windy leaned back and chuckled. "Be careful though, stealing a mare from a stallion is always tricky business.... Although I must say I have honed it to a doctoral science by now. You could say I have a PhD in Mare-snatching. Call me Doctor Runner!" he proclaimed with a laugh.

Oh Celestia. He's one of those ponies. Volt subtly rolled his eyes and played along, although he didn't truly believe what Windy had said. "Well really now? You think so? I must go confess my love to her! Oh and that cake is 20 bits." Volt left the building as soon as he could. He had gotten advice from the wrong pony. On his way back to the bakery, he actually did think about Windy's words. They don't normally kiss in a platonic fashion huh? Hmm, that does seem weird. But she said she was from Ponyville. She never said she hadn't been raised somewhere else. Then again she did- wait a second why am I being so pessimistic? Volt shook his head. He knew he had been overthinking this from the start. He walked into the bakery and over to the kitchen.

Cuppie looked up now kneeding the dough that Flour Dust had left and smiled seeing Volt, "oh hi wow that was fast thank you so much! The guy who ordered it was really specific, said it had to be delivered right away he was sending it ti a new employee or something...Margins was his name I think. It was a congratulatory cake."

Cuppie put the dough into a pan and popped it into the oven humming a soft tun as she did. The ferri ticket hidden in the pocket of the appron she trotted up to Volt trying to get flour off her nose but missing the rest which appeared is splotches all over her face, "did you get the bits for it?"

Volt chuckled at seeing Cuppie with the flour on her face. Somehow, the look suited her. "Yea I got the bits. The guy that it was for was a bit... eccentric to say the least. Hey you still have some flour on your face." Volt proceeded to wipe the flour off Cuppie's face. After realizing what he was doing, he stopped and his cheeks flushed a deep maroon.

"Haha he didn't punch you or anything did he cause your face is really red anyway I made you this while you were gone I had to thank you some how and since I'm not allowed to let you keep the bits no pony can tell me not to bake for somepony." She pulled out a small lemon tart with a dallop of whip cream and a blue berry on top, "I was inspired by such bright colors, the rest of the batch has already been eaten I had to save this one it's really popular I guess and I just made these."

Volt Switch laughed nervously. "Hehe... no he didn't punch me he was just... I can't really describe it. Erhm... it's pretty funny how it looks like me. Thank you." Volt gave Cuppie the bits from the delivery and took the tart. He took a bite out of it. "Sweet Celestia this tastes amazing! I know you made the coffee cakes earlier but this is amazing! This really is your thing!" After mentioning Cuppie's talent, he thought about his own. I wonder how the weather team is doing back in Baltimare. Mybe I'll go back sometime and help them out. I wonder what Cuppie would think of Switching? Would she give the same response as Rouge? Volt shrugged to himself. It wasn;t really important what she tought. Still...

Cuppie gave him another warm smile, "oh well thank you so much, it was the least I could do." She took the bits and trotted out of the kitchen putting them into the cash register when she came back into the kitchen Volt still standing there seeming to be deep in thought. She poked him with a hoof as she trotted passed cleaning up the mess she had left on the counter, "whatchya thinkin about?"

Volt looked up at the sound of Cuppie's voice. "Huh? Oh I was just wondering whether or not I should show you something." Volt winced after saying the fumbled words. "Oh, um, that came out wrong. I just, um... Buck it I'll just show you." Volt's body became illuminated by an electric blue aura.  A small bolt of electricity shot towards Cuppie and they had Switched. Volt knew what was going to happen so as soon as he Switched, he grabbed a rag and started cleaning all the flour on the counter. The least could be said about Cuppie's preparedness. "N-Neat huh?"

Cuppie just stood there for a few seconds blinking in surprise then she snapped into an instant change her wings flew open and she began flapping them not quite lifting herself of the ground a huge smile covered almost al of her face and her voice became loud and exited, "oh my gosh can you do that all the time? How does it work? Can you show me? When were you going to tell me you were so awesome? That is the greatest thing I've ever seen!"

Volt blushed at the compliment. "Hehe thanks! I don't think I can teach you. It's all sciencey stuff though, like currents and circuits. As for being able to do it all the time... I dunno I think I can do it all the time. I've never over exerted myself so I wouldn't know. My body generates the electricity." Volt had a goofy grin on his face and he couldn't stop. She had called him awesome, and it made him feel... great! No stop Volt. She's still kind of with Dogboots, I think. You can't get in the way! Still, the grin remained.

Her face fell then as she remembered the ticket in her pocket and she cleared her throat giving a small smile, "um, thank you for everything and I'm sure we can tell we would've been really good friend's but I have to go...now." she left the kitchen and made her way up the stairs to the small room she was given putting the saddle bag on her back and placing the hat Cook had sent her on her head she headed back down stairs peeking into the kitchen, "uh you should probably get out of the kitchen if Flour sees you in the kitchen she'll have a fit."

After leaving the bakery rouge had sat down in a local park and let it sink in on what he had put his only friend and a complte stranger through.' I've just messed up royaly first I not only get into somepony elses buissness but then I force said pony and my only friend, and that was just after he had allowed me to stay at his appartment.' Rouge felt like a complet idiot not only for putting them through what he did but also taking time away from what ever one of the ponies had to do that day. ' okay enough mopeing around, I'm going to show them how much I realy mean I'm sorry.' And with that thought rouge checked his saddle bag and found he had just enough supplies to get the job done he sprinted into the closest board store and bought four twenty hoof by twenty hoof boards and had them bought to the back of the appartments that volt and dogboots lived at. ' good now let's get this party started.' Rouge thought as he started to put the boards up. "Oh, thank you, sir!" Rouge called to the stores stallion.

 

**two hours later**

 

"Good, it's all done, I can only hope that they may forgive me." Rouge said to him self as he looked over his work. After finishing the appolagy art rouge had went twords volts appartment building and started to write an appolagy letter.

I know that you are probly mad at me, and justifyingly so. I am not bribing you , I only want to give this to you because you have been a good friend to me and I was only a hinderance to what ever you had planed. If you look behind the plant pot there is a bag of five thousand bits for you, volt and for causing you trouble dogboots I, am really sorry for almost ruining what you had and for getting into your bussieness when it wasn't okay for me to do that so I have left you a bag of five thousand bits over in your plant pot. I know that this doesn't make my actions justified in any way but go around back of the appartment and you will find something I made to say sorry, feel free to do what ever you wish with it.

Volt was about to leave and wave a farewell when he realized the tone of her voice. He had thought she had meant she was going home, but it sounded like she was going to leave Sydneigh! He had to ask to be able to confirm his suspicions. "By leaving, do you mean... leaving Syneigh?! Why would you do that! Didn't you just get here? Was it something with Dogboots? Was it...." Volt trailed off. He had rambled again, and he didn't like doing that. But he also didn't want Cuppie to leave. He had just gotten to know her a little better, and he confirmed to himself that he did like her. And he wasn't going to just let her slip away. "Sorry. I know it's not really any of my business what you do. You've been a good friend, and I only met you today! But I want to get to know you better, and  if you leave I can't do that. I.... I..... I just..... sorry..."

Cuppie cringed at the mention of Dogboots just the thought of him pulled at her heart strings. But she quickly recovered and laughed at his words, "I never stay in one place for long and I never go to the same place twice. It's just a thing I do I'm glad I met you and maybe we'll meet again someday." Cuppie gave him another bright smile she never remembered smiling so much in one day and she liked it. She loved this town as well but that was the problem she was getting too emotionally attached and it was time to go.

Volt didn't think this was a good enough explanation. "But... But why? Why do you move from place to place? I'm sorry I just.... I need a better explanation than that! You're so kind and sweet. and I've never had a friend like you! I... I don't want you to go Cuppie..." Volt wasn't sure if he was leading her on to him liking her or not, and frankly he didn't care. It didn't make sense! WHy would she leave! Sydneigh's such a nice place... Why would anyone want to leave it?
